My husband and I sent both of our children to Notre Dame School. What we really appreciated was the…read morenurturing environment that we found. The academic rigor that Notre Dame provided also came with fun and challenging athletic and arts opportunities. We also loved how the school supports specials: students have a different teacher for music, fine arts, and physical education. Further, there is a fabulous after school theatre program run by parents who have passional and commitment to the theatrical arts. The hot lunch program is delicious and nutritious. We especially appreciated the upper elementary and junior high field trips to interesting places including: the Balclutha ship trip (5th), the Monterrey Bay (7th), San Francisco (6th), and Ashland theatre field trip in 8th grade. When we were there, parents also organized a Washington D.C. trip. The choir and music opportunities were embedded in the school program and classes, and all students learn the fundamentals of music. The proximity to the university also provided the students with enriched programs and activities such as the science lab just a hop, skip and a jump away. Notre Dame is a traditional looking school that values respect and community service, but teachers also bring the most relevant and research-backed best practices to the classrooms as well. One other aspect is that my children, during those turbulent junior high years, were not just around peers who they had grown up with, but were able to be role models and teachers for the younger students, as Mass buddies and teacher aides. I feel that the TK-8 structure keeps junior high students a little more innocent then massing all of the same-aged kids together at once, like the other junior highs in town. The financial investment is just that: an investment in our children. Well worth every penny.

The environment could be better regarding the protests that happened and the staff did not do anything about it. An example of this is the anti transgender protest that students held at PV. Some staff members saw it happening but did not stop it. They did not stop the discrimination against transgender people. So overall, the learning experience is great, but the environment can be changed so every single student will feel included at school.

My spouse and I sometimes argue about how picks up the kids from school because we love seeing our little ones in their element interacting with their friends, and we love to hear about their days from their teachers. There are some days when our preschooler is happy to see us, but doesn't want to go home yet because they are having so much fun! It is clear that the teachers truly care about the kids & babies and it shows on their happy little faces. They serve healthy and delicious foods, usually I want to stay for breakfast because it looks and smells so amazing! The kids always have fresh fruit on every plate I've seen! Also, they make the most amazing fresh bread every Friday and the parents can bring some home!

It is so difficult to leave them in the care of others, and it is very comforting to know that they will be having a great time, socializing with other kids, learning, and doing lots of fun projects while I have to be away from them. Usually they don't really want to leave when I go to pick them up, which I take as a very telling sign about how much they enjoy it! My 5 year old transitioned very nicely from the all-day program to getting picked up from Kindergarten on the van. They did very well with our cloth diapers for my then 2 year old, and handled the transition during potty training wonderfully. I would highly recommend this preschool to anyone in Paradise!!

So far my son has only had one teacher, Mathew, and my son loves him! He's learned a lot and has even taught me a few things I didn't know, and I've been driving for 37 years! Customer Service is excellent! I spoke with quite a few, but Ashley went above and beyond and I appreciate their kindness and efficiency. After we *both* learned a few things from Matthew I'd say that if you've been driving for a long time, it's a good idea to pick up a California Driving Handbook. Not only were professional driving schools not required back in the 80's and early 90's, but a few laws have changed since then and it's a good idea to freshen up your knowledge of the California road rules, regulations and safety etc. Lessons are expensive no matter what, and they're all about the same price. Coastline tends to be available within a few days, so if you're looking to book a lesson ASAP, they're the ones to call. I'm definitely going to have my daughter use Coastline, and I definitely recommend them to anyone!
