My review of NBM is exactly the same as all the other 1* reviews on here. Seems very odd it's either 1* or 5*!!!. We had a straight forward, small chain sale. I am not a first time buyer, so know how the process works and how it should be handled.
Oh dear, what can I say. Not only could I never get hold of anyone, emails were ignored, phone messages were ignored. Put it this way, you will never here the words Just returning your call!!! What makes it even funnier is that if you want to exchange and complete in less than 10 CLEAR WORKING days between exchange and completion (so not Friday to Friday in a fortnight), then you need to pay an extra £100 expedition fee WFT?!!! So when you think you're getting a good price for online solicitors, you are infact being charged for this shower to errm, finish the job they're paid to do in two weeks, rather than three?!!
If you are a first time buyer, seriously avoid you need to be able to speak to your solicitor for advice etc. If you don't know what to expect, you wont know what you should be nagging this lot to get on with and do.
If you use these people and like me it was too late to change, you will need to micro manage them like mad. Apologise now to your buyers solicitors and agent and tell them when they can't get hold of them you will deal with it. Ring the main office, choose the sales line, which incidentally is always answered, give them a piece of your mind and ask them to get the solicitor to call you back NOW!!! It even got to the point where the other party solicitors would call me to ask me to get NBM to call them at some point in the week! Complete waste of my time, yet had to be done.
Don't expect an apology from Miss Prince when she makes a mistake, eg. forgetting to do your searches despite taking the money and saying they are waiting to come back, or failing to exchange on the day you agreed with your chain because no one could get hold of her etc. etc. Apparently that's normal. Well it's the first I've heard of it, along with my estate agent and other party solicitors, who I ended up having to speak with directly which is very unusual!!
And as for that on-line tracking thing great, ask a question, get a response 48hrs saying noted. Ask the same question again, wait another 48 hours to get a reply suddenly a week has gone!
Final rant, £45+vat to fill out the SDLT form. seriously? Took me 20 mins and that is the first time I've done it. My advice to anyone is just do it yourself. Get on the SDLT page from the HMRC website and follow the guide. The form is easy and the guide tells you clearly what to put on it.
Can honestly say, the best thing about NBM is the day you complete!!!! I will certainly be telling all my friends and family about NBM! read more
