I am the son of an elderly couple who had some roofing work done by NBM roofing ( Jamie ) and I have requested a breakdown of material costs , as I believe the time taken to complete the work and the amount charged was exorbitant. My parents said that it took 10 minutes to repair the flashing up above the kitchen roof and no more than 6 hours of actual working time on the shed roof which was over felted. The quote stated aluminium fascias were to be used on all sides and only one side was faced. They were also charged for some wood even though the quote stated all materials were being supplied. After cost of materials for which I have been informed would have been no more than £200- £300 , the hourly rate charged works out to be £200. I have asked for the owner to justify this but nothing to date has been received. My elderly parents felt pressurised in paying the quote that was re-presented to them as the owner had gone home to re- write it and quickly returned for payment without putting a bill in the post. Standing over a 85 year old man waiting for him to write a cheque out I believe to be intimidating. I'm afraid the trust my parents had with the owner of NBM roofing has been lost. read more
