two jars of nutmeal in a cardboard box

I came here on my way to Harry's up the street one day. It's a cool little middle eastern grocery store. They have a little of everything from teas to yogurt to spices and such. I was most impressed with their large and relatively inexpensive spice selection. They have the basic stuff like garlic and onions to the more exotic stuff that I wouldn't know what to do with. I did purchase some cardamon and some Turkish ceylon tea. A Persian friend once taught me to drink Earl Gray teas with 5-6 pieces of cardamon in the cup. Ever since then I've been addicted. They also sell various other teas with the cardamom already added including The Lipton tea brand. (Its cheaper than what they sell it on Amazon...in case anyone cares...) I saw that they have lots of beans in all varieties. My only theory is that beans is a big part of their diet. I'm not too familiar with Middle Eastern cooking so I don't know for sure. I do however have a close Muslim friend and her entire family are strict vegetarians..... I think the prices are competitive and the owner was quite nice. The place is very small and everything is stacked on top of each other so be careful when you are shopping. If you are in the area and feeling adventurous then check these guys out.

They had what I was looking for: special blend spices. Lots of cool stuff here. Definitely a cultural experience.

We had ordered two pies. One meat one cheese. Both were good. Definitely would buy again. It was nice to see a lot of beef only items and hope we see more of it the more we go. We're very happy we found this place so close to home. Hope they keep this up and we will be there weekly.

This review is based on my first visit to locate a different Bulgarian yogurt. PSA - It's a retail shop NOT a wholesale as it's incorrectly categorized...I've put in a correction to Yelp but we all know how that goes... + Ambiance is a slow south eastern European grocery shop with a pre-occupied cashier on her phone. A handful of well-organized aisles filled with dry goods, pottery, refrigerated goods in along the walls and a small over the counter deli in the back. + Food is imported goods from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Turkey, Greece and others around southern Baltic Sea. I found interesting condiments, pates, coffees, teas, nectars, cheese, salami, sweets and tchotchkes. In the back they have a small deli with varieties of fresh feta (goat, sheep and cow), olives and fresh made baklavas and other sweets (unknown to me). They also make a handful of inexpensive sandwiches. Unfortunately for me though, they were out of Bulgarian yogurt that I made the trip for. ++ Price is very reasonable. They accept credit cards. + Service was humorous and was friendlier than Hong Kong. The lady behind the deli was older who didn't speak English well and was helpful. The cashier in the front who looked to be in her late 30s was glued to her phone, crouched on a stool, aloof when I asked about the (missing) prices on jars of peppers but came back to tell me the price a few minutes later. She obviously understood and spoke more English but couldn't be bothered to speak...much. + Parking is free and shared with other shops. Over all, it's an interesting little import grocer and a fun place to find southern Baltic foods!

Well, now I know and this is where I'll be spending my money getting fresh cuts of meat for my family. I wanted rib eyes and I'd been checking the prices of several retailers. I checked that farmer's market, Publix and last I called Tripoli. Tripoli has the lowest prices so that's where I went. When I walked in I was greeted warmly by the little lady behind the counter. I asked for rib eyes but the owner Mahmoud Mohammed said that he'd be happy to process some for me as they were fresh out. I agreed. He was so polite and accommodating I looked around while I waited which was only 5-10 minutes. I also bought some roast turkey and turkey ham which I haven't been able to get anywhere here in Atlanta. My teenage son even took his face out of his phone and picked out some kabobs to make later. I called my mother as soon as I got home and told her about my great experience and she said she'll go check it out too. If you're looking for a fresh clean meat market with a great selection, check out Tripoli Halal Meat Market. FYI: In case you're unaware, there is no pork so you won't find any there but if you're looking for a Halal or even a clean orderly meat market with great prices go visit Tripoli Halal Meat Market in Marietta Georgia. He takes all forms of payment so swing by there. I recorded Mahmoud processing my rib eyes and the other things available to buy so go shop there! *I took great videos of my time there but uploading here is a nightmare.

This is the only Oriental market I could find in the area. I went to 2 others that were listed, one…read morein downtown Kennesaw and one right around the corner from here that were both closed down. I was looking for Agar Agar. The store is on the far end of a dingy early 70's stripmall isolated, yet there are 8 vehicles parked directly in front of the store. Several latino men are seen entering the store before I and they pass through to a door in the back. Odd I thought. The store is sparsely stocked with few labels and most items just lying flat on old metal shelves. It is seemingly a one man operation. After perusing the whole store in a matter of two minutes I cannot find the Agar Agar, which certainly should be present in an oriental market. I proceed to ask the man, who has been eyeing me silently from behind the counter on my trek through the aisles, "Do you have Agar Agar?" There is no music playing, the ubiquitous Asian TV muted, he just stared. Finally we concluded that I was crazy and he could not order it for me, though I did not ask him to, because it would rot on his shelves.. He then tried to sell me gelatin, I think. I left and on my way out spotted some Reishi coffee, and decided to give it a go. $6 for 12 instant Reishi coffee packets. Haven't tried it yet. As I was receiving my change, another different group of latinos emerged from the back door and left. In conclusion, this place is fucking weird and I reckon it may be a front for some illegal activities, but the little man running the place did try his best to help me so I gave it two stars. Buyer-beware. Also, I went across the street to Harry's "Farmers Market" and found some Agar Agar. The women there knew exactly what I was talking about, even after I told her that she probably wasn't going to. It was $10 for 28g.. VERY pricey, but cheaper than driving to Buford hwy, which was my next option.
