Risk taking is valued as part of growth and development, and the joy that comes from inquisitive young minds is heard throughout the halls at Harley. I stood up to my bully today and she still beat me up but in my defense that eighty year old sure knows how to fight. One time was just standing around playing on my phone and then boom, someone stole my underpants, I had to walk around for the rest of the day uncomfortable because of that jerk. Plus when I went to check if I still had underpants on, which i didn't my phone was stolen. And two months ago George brought a rabid badger on a stick and beat me up with it. The spitballs have evolved into an blow darts with cyanide tips, I have to carry around antidotes. I am obviously joking though, my bully is only 75. It's a great school though.

Questioned his lower reading scores, even after I explained he has a learning disability and basically begged the school to give him a chance. And like another private school in Rochester, they also didn't give me any decision whatsoever. So if your child has a learning disability don't bother with this school cause there's no compassion. They couldn't even bother to let me know whether my kid was accepted or rejected!

The exterior is a mix of a modern addition to a classic era feeling. It is quite a large school for a small community so I kind of feel it might too large but I wouldn't know that. The interior is what really needs to be helped. The greenish-blue floor tiles are beginning to fade, ceiling tiles are coming apart, and there is a non-functioning waterfall near the entrance that I recall, used to run. If this was only styling based, this was probably a lower rating but as a high school, I absolutely loved my time and made some great memories, but I don't feel like it's ever going to age very well with time.

Here's why: My son was abruptly expelled from Allendale Columbia, and the school has made no attempt to rectify the situation. I'm going to communicate the facts of the situation and let you draw your own conclusions about how students are treated by Allendale Columbia. As background, my son (a first grader) has some mild behavioral issues that I acknowledge can be a challenge to deal with. We were working with the school, my son's pediatrician, and my son's therapist. We were seeing positive improvements and our impression was that things were headed in a good direction. On February 24th, 2021, at approximately noon, I informed Allendale Columbia that we might not be returning to the school for the following school year. On the same day, at 3:45pm, I received a call from Interim Head of School Shannon Baudo. Baudo claimed there had been "an incident" in the after school program, provided few details, and told me that my son was expelled from school effective immediately. He never had a chance to say goodbye to his friends or collect his belongings. We never received a written incident report. Two days later, on February 26th, my wife and I had a phone call with Baudo and the lower school principal Michelle Feiss. By this time, Baudo's story changed, and she insinuated that my six year old son had acted inappropriately towards a girl in the after school program. This is an allegation I take extremely seriously, so I called the parents of the girl, who were not aware of the severity of the situation. The school has still provided no proof, and no written incident report. The school refused to refund any tuition, even the tuition for the portion of the school year we did not receive. Only you can make decisions for your family. However, I feel that I'd be doing a disservice to the parent community in Rochester if I did not make you aware of this event, and the school's callous and abrupt response.

That is why, it is no surprise the Rochester city schools are in the state they are in. In 5-10 years it will be much worse. To any parent of school age children reading this, do not send your children to Rochester city schools. Work an extra job and move to the suburbs or find a charter or catholic school. You will regret it if you don't.
