The house white wine (Bianco Salento) was also top notch. Not too dry (again, I'm not a huge fan of white wine, but this one won me over). Great service, terrific atmosphere in a sleepy little town in Salento (the town of Salve). Make sure to get the "tiramisù al limone" for desert and finish with the "finochietto" (creamy sweet liquor they make with fennel). My wife asked for seconds of the finochietto! They also have many non-fish recipes, but we will have to try those next time. If you are near Gallipoli or Santa Maria di Leuca or Otranto, make the trip - It's worth it!

My wife and I dined at Li Pali this evening and enjoyed a delicious meal…read more Although we were the only diners at 7 PM, as it is still off-season in this beach town in Puglia, the owner/chef was very gracious. The dining room is spacious and beautifully appointed. We ordered a simple meal of insalata mista, Papardelle con fungi and Medallions con funghi. The insalata was abundant with fresh salad greens, thinly sliced carrot, fennel bulb, tomatoes, cucumber and sweet red peppers: much better than the insalata mista typically served in restaurants. It was presented dressed with EVOO and white wine vinegar in a lovely white ceramic "shell" shaped bowl, a more than ample serving for two. The papardelle were deliciously "al dente", in a savory mushroom sauce served on a white ceramic, fish-shaped platter, garnished with fennel fronds, white flower petals and a colorful sea shell. The medallions were tender in a velvety, smooth mushroom sauce served with a side dish of cross-hatch stacked patatine fritte and three polpette di patate. The house red wine was unremarkable but satisfying. We highly recommend this delightful restaurant to all looking for an excellent dining experience at a reasonable price while visiting Salento.

    Great ambiance.

L'Angolo Blu - The gamberi in sale--the presentation was amazing and these were the best shrimp I've ever had. Unbelievable.

I was staying at Palazzo Mosco Inn and Maria, the manager there, recommended L'angolo BLU. I had…read moreread about it while researching Gallipoli, so was excited to try it out. We went in May and had a reservation for one night, but one of my friends wasn't feeling great so I walked in and they were so accommodating--they let us push our reservation to the following evening. My two friends and I arrived, the hosts were so kind and welcoming. They didn't speak English, but not a problem--they were smiling and mimed to make sure my friend was feeling better, how sweet! We had a dictionary on my phone, all was well. Maria talked about the seafood, and in particular the local purple shrimp, so I wanted to try it out. When I saw shrimp on the menu, I didn't even know how it would be served or what with, but I pointed and that's what I got. I wasn't purple, so who knows if it was the local shrimp, but honestly, they were THE BEST shrimp I've ever had in my life. My friends got linguine vognole (linguine and clams) and a seared tuna (if I'm remembering correctly...) and I won the ordering contest. :) Our kind waiter brought our dishes over, he turned an espresso cup over, leaned my dish against it. The platter had the large shrimp (steamed or boiled) lined up and dusted in flakey salt. He bathed them in olive oil in front of me, flipped them over, and tah-dah. They were mine. (I wish I took a picture or video of this, but it was MEMORABLE!!!) This restaurant is a beach-y spot, but a little upscale (jeans were fine but shorts might not be), so I went to dig in with my knife and fork. The hostess noticed and ran over motioning with her hands and brought a hand wipe with her. I went for it and was so glad she gave me the o-k to peel the prawns with my hands!! The prawns were sweet, succulent, and the best I've had (and I grew up on the ocean). I absolutely loved them. We ended the meal with some granita and I was one HAPPY camper. If I were coming back I'd 100% get this dish again, or ask for a recommendation and go with it. Maybe stay away from the pasta... the seafood is too good to be mixed in with noodles. :)

One of the best restaurant. Very tasty food. Have to book in advance. Highly recommendedread more
