Lloyds Tsb Bank Cash Machine

It was taken over by Santander recently, so will probably be stronger than it would have been in the current financial market. But hey, you probably know all that already. In terms of practicalities, there are a couple of other Abbey stores in Oxford, and they're all over the country, so it's a useful bank to use. The staff in this branch are usually very friendly and helpful and they are happy to offer advice without you committing to anything. The branch is quite small, but I've never had to queue very long, and it feels cosier than some of the banks in the centre of town.

At busy times (lunchtime) there can be a big queue sometimes even when all the cashiers are open, but the enquiries desk team will offer to do various things. They can't handle cash though so you'd have to queue for that. They also have a full financial team here so you can go in and meet mortgage advisors etc. There are little meeting rooms as well for privacy. Also has a fast drop service for cheques which means I don't have to queue!

They looked up my details on the computer and seemed really keen to help, despite it not being the branch that had caused the problem. Even when they did not know an exact answer, they gave me an approximation and were very clear. A refreshing change from the vague politician-style answers you often get when they're not sure what to say. It only gets 4 stars because the building society itself was really slow in setting up a bank account, so my money was in limbo for months.
