There is approximately fifteen feet between my home and the neighbors. Bobcat drivers job was to remove all the large and small limbs dragging them to the front of the property. Where they either mulched them or load the huge ones into a truck. Neither the bobcat driver nor his coworkers trimmed the long branches prior to removal. (Trying to draw a picture with words.) A lot of them were almost fifteen feet wide. This resulted in coming VERY close to ripping of the downspout on the front corner of my home. They did rip off the eavestrough that carries rain away from the foundation. And knocked over my waste and recycling containers. They did pick them up and reattached my run off gutter. If they had trimmed the wide branches ... Now, this happened both days (2) they worked. Personally, if it happened on day one then on day two I would have the brain function to change up my approach. But nope. They never knocked on my door to ask permission to enter my fenced yard to clean up their debris. So I went out and cleaned up. Day two as they were cleaning up I went out and cleaned up their debris from my yard. Giving it to them to dispose of. The bobcat driver job approached me and said they would clean it up. I pointed out that they didn't on day one so why would I think they would on day two? The customers yard was cleaned up each day. I also brought to his attention the fact that he came close to ripping off my downspout. Twisting it by about thirty degrees.

We recently hired JD Baldus Hardscape for a landscaping project on the lakeside of our home, and we…read morecouldn't be happier with the results. The project involved constructing an eight-foot retaining wall, performing significant excavation work, and completing the final grading and seeding. The work area was difficult to access, but John handled every aspect of the job with professionalism and expertise. His pricing was fair, communication was excellent throughout the project, and he was reliable and courteous from start to finish. We've already referred JD Baldus Hardscape to other homeowners looking for similar work, and we wouldn't hesitate to use John again or recommend him to others. Highly recommended.

I spoke to my local company that recommended John for landscaping (because they asked how he did). Once I told them about the issue, they took his business card and threw it away and stated thats not the first time they have heard this. Then I was in Mattawan Landscape supply looking at their hardscape options. When I was talking to the owner he pointed over to a contractor that he says does great hardscape work. He pointed to John. I informed him that John has not returned any of my calls, even to just say the project is too big for him or he does not have time. He never answers his phone either so you are always leaving a message. I am very reasonable about timing. I can have someone start tomorrow or a few months from now. I know these guys are busy. To completely ignore a potential customer shows lack of professionalism through my eyes and brings great concern to the actual project if he struggles to communicate on the front side. Are there any landscapers out there that would like a complete landscape job or even a few filler jobs?

Booko Brothers responded as soon as the tree was removed to secure the roof, finishing just ahead of the next torrential rain, which would have likely destroyed our home. They were instrumental, over a 3 month period, in facilitating a reasonable insurance settlement for us. They were powerful and productive advocates for us with our insurance company. The work they have done for us in restoring the structural integrity of our 100+ yr old home and rebuilding the interiors has been exceptional. They are dedicated and brilliant problems solvers! Old homes are quirky and always difficult to renovate - nothing is level; nothing is plumb. But when severely damaged, they can feel impossible! Their team has approached each problem with what can only be described as a real zeal for finding clever solutions to weird problems. It's not just their attention to detail that is noteworthy, but also their attention to the things WE care about. This was not just a rental property to us, it had been our family home and held much memory for us. They treated our sentimental issues and needs with sensitivity and a real commitment to accommodate us. We are very grateful to have had them walking through this difficult season with us! They are a real blessing and we could not recommend them more highly!

Our search for a lawn maintenance company did not stop as the weather started to warm up. I called…read moremultiple lawn companies only to discover they had minimum charges that ranged from $35 to $45 for our small front yard and our backyard that doesn't even require mowing (it's full of river rock). I was stunned. I checked Craig's List as a last resort and happened on Simon & Son Lawn Care. After looking at our yard they told me their minimum fee was $25, which was a whole lot more tolerable. I hired them immediately. Simon & Son has already finished our Spring clean up and I just called them to start mowing for the Spring/Summer season. They did an excellent job. They were careful of all my plants, yet they got all the leaves from under our deck in the backyard. They picked up all the sticks and branches that had fallen over the winter and got all the leaves from under the pine trees near the road. There are bigger lawn companies in Kalamazoo, but they charge almost twice as much to do the exact same job and they pressured me to fertilize, seed and water before I had even hired them. We are very happy to have a small, locally owned, and efficient company taking care of our lawn again.

I would definitely recommend Simon & Son to those in the Kalamazoo area looking for a fair-priced and attentive lawn service.
