Do yourself a favour and DO NOT buy furniture from here!!! My husband and I have had the worst and most regrettable furniture purchase experience at Knock On Wood. We bought a bedframe with a headboard that had drawers in it over 2 yrs ago. They make the bedframe at their warehouse in Surrey once you place the order, so it's brand new, paint and all. We noticed a strong varnish smell inside the hollow areas (drawers) of the headboard the first day we slept with it. We tried different methods to get rid of the smell such as baking soda, cat litter, onions in a bowl of water, etc. When we told the owner, Harjit, of the varnish smell, he reassured us that the smell would go away after a few months. Unfortunately, there is no returns or exchanges at this store, I guess we should have asked about that before purchasing. We didn't want to sleep with the smell of varnish anymore after a couple of months so we decided to leave it at a friend's garage to let it air out (since we live in a 1-bedroom condo). It's been over 2 years now and the headboard still smells of varnish, not as strong as originally, but still has that lingering varnish smell once we started sleeping with it again. We've spoken to Harjit about it several times, even told him that we are willing to pay for a new matching FLAT headboard with no drawers so the varnish is not trapped inside. He quoted us over $650 for a new headboard and would not go down on the price (we'd already paid $1800 for the whole set). We then complained more and suggested that he should just sand down the inside of the drawers to get rid of the varnish. He got someone to pick up the headboard and we called him 2 months later because he never called us back. He insisted that the headpiece does not smell of varnish and that he did not sand down the inside of it because it would take too much time to disassemble it, sand it down, and reassemble it. Told us to come pick up the headboard at the warehouse in Surrey (we live in Vancouver and the headpiece would not fit in our small car). We will never shop here again and will spread the word about this horrible store so that no one else will suffer like we did. read more
