My wife and I stopped in on our first day and were warmly greeted by Ivy, one of the employees, who was EXTREMELY knowledgable about local PR artists, and showed us some amazing pieces. They also have very nice silver and locally produced jewelry pieces. We returned on our second day and had the pleasure of meeting the owner, and decided on purchasing two pieces by a more renowned Puerto Rican artist, and received an amazing price. My wife then saw a third piece that she loved, and we received a package price that was too good to refuse! Price included shipping, and we were treated with great kindness. The second day was when the island wide power outage was occurring, and they were still able to conduct business using cellular devices. Yesterday afternoon we received a call from Ivy to verify our home address, and THIS afternoon, all three paintings arrived (including the oversized framed 30"x40" oil) via USPS PRIORITY EXPRESS! Now, THAT is truly amazing customer service! We would have been happy with regular shipping! There were a lot of souvenir stores around but I was looking for something authentic done by local artists. At first you wouldn't think that the Haitian Gallery would be a place to find Puerto Rico art but it is. It actually has a spectacular collection of different things that aren't just tacky souvenirs. When you first walk in, you'll see all your little souvenir knick knacks. They have key chains and magnets for those looking for something to bring back with them. As you walk further back, you'll see the painted art on the walls and the veijigantes (Puerto Rican masks) that artists have put together. You'll see a lot of these around, but the ones here are true works of art. They have beautiful detail and are sturdy meant to be included in an art collection. They are pricey but well worth it. They will be the center piece of your house. On the second floor, you'll find a lot of Haitian paintings by Haitian artists. Many of them modern but some were very traditional. I got the impression that a lot of people skipped this floor. Although I'm not an expert in art, I am confident that there are spectacular pieces here that could sell for a pretty penny but are overlooked. They will offer to send you your items if you buy something large or difficult to take back but they will also offer to pack something tight and break proof if you decide to hand carry. You can pay in cash or credit card. You can also talk to them about reducing your price if you bought something pricey or you bought a lot of things. Love this store and personally think it's the best place to get quality local goods.

The selections at Art Age Gallery are generally smaller in size but like Exodo real artisanal pieces, each unique, offered at what I would consider totally reasonable and affordable prices. Most of them are done by local artists and if you're lucky you may even have the opportunity to meet with the artists. What I really like about Age is that it has such a diversity of art. There is mix media, ceramics, paintings, jewelry and so much more. It's a real gem find of an art gallery.

Caribbean Stone Art opened in January 2015 so we were lucky to visit during the first few weeks of operation. They sell beautiful, stone-carved artwork. Most of the sculptures are related to sea life: turtles, starfish, mermaids, sea horses, etc. They range in size from hand-held to the size of a mid to small dog. Prices obviously vary as well. You may be able to negotiate. We had a chance to meet the artists and learned about the processes. All pieces start as a hunk of stone. Hours of craftsmanship and work go into each piece.
