Once you go inside, you find a real artistic feel. Not snooty trying to seem high end, like so many salons end up being around here. The clients and pros are warm and inviting. The team is two great professionals with one focusing mostly on the color while the other focusing on the cutting and styling. The two communicate with the client and each other very clearly and politely. The process makes for a fun experience with them. I give them only four starts rather than five since they seemed a little overbooked and rushed. They did NOT make any mistakes on myself or other clients but that kind of schedule makes me nervous with hair, inviting the possibility. Then again, maybe they are used to working at that high level pace very well, so more power to em! I will definitely be back there again and again. The compliments I get on my hair confirm that this is the place for good hair.

Recently, while visiting RI from FL, I really needed a hair cut. I saw True Colors Salon was in the…read morearea and had a 5-star review on Yelp. Everyone was friendly and it was a nice looking salon. I have thick and curly hair. The blow-out was okay, but not as smooth as I usually get because the stylist cut corners by drying much of my hair with her fingers instead of working the brush more (i.e., the "lazy gal" method). My hair looked good to me, but not the silky smooth I'm used to getting. I returned to FL a few days later for some color work with my regular stylist. When he had finished blow drying and flat ironing my hair, he said, "I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to fix that haircut you just got - it is very crooked." I thought he was just being a stickler, but he took a close up picture of the back of my hair and showed it to me. It was totally crooked. Then he pointed out the sides, which were also choppy and uneven. I was upset because I had paid quite a bit for this hair cut and given the True Colors owner a very good tip. Several of my friends and work colleagues go to my regular stylist. My regular stylist apologized again for insisting on fixing the haircut I got at True Colors Salon, but he didn't want anyone to think he had given me that bad hair cut. I let him fix it. He didn't charge me anything, but I paid him extra for his effort because it took a while for him to fix all the mistakes. I won't be back and I doubt Cindy Lauper would ever go to True Colors Salon.

She was patient, listened to what I wanted, offered advice and helped me achieve my hair goals. She colored my hair for years and it always looked healthy and lovely. She agreed to bleaching out a section of my VERY dark hair to color it pink and it came out beautiful; but she also then counseled me that given my particular hair she wouldn't recommend doing it often.
