Camille and I came famished and freezing after an intense yoga session. The staff at Natraj greeted us with warmth and immediate sustenance -- the pre-meal papad came out in seconds, and was delectable. We ordered the Chicken Tikka and Jaipuri Sabdi, spicy, of course. I was a little skeptical of how spicy and flavorful Indian food can be in a place with relatively few of the diaspora. My mind was blown. Highly recommend these entrees, along with the garlic naan and tandoori roti. Should I again find myself in this Bavarian wonderland, I will be back. Having heard of this place from fellow Yelper, that shall remain nameless ;-) three of us decided to check it out tonight :-)) I am glad I got to try this place for the first time and, really enjoyed it. The service here is personal and excellent - 5 stars for that. The menu is extensive with lots of options including, a page of chefs specials. They also have a selection of starters and Thalis (plate with a few dishes in smaller portions). We opted for a Thali that came with 5 different curries to share like the Lamb Boti Masala, prawn hariyali, chicken in a sweet cream sauce, mixed vegetable curry, duck curry and raita. We also had rice, roti, peshwari naan and puri to share. For starters we had a mixed pakora plate. A lot of different flavours and levels of heat. My favourites were lamb, prawn hariyali, vegetarian and the tandoori rotis :-)) the food had a nice kick to it and went well with the nice cold beer :-) The flavours were good and intense, just the way I like it :-) The taste was quite authentic and the servers spoke Hindi, making it slightly extra special for me ;-)) A fabulous experience that I would happily repeat. The staff are very friendly and even brought us some extra bits of sides to make it an enjoyable experience. My stable of places for good Indian restaurants in Munich is growing and, I am glad to add this one to the list ;-))) read more

Thank goodness for Foodora, as we had ordered Indian takeaway on a rainy Munich Monday evening, and on a bank holiday! I was craving Indian food, and we were very satisfied with our orders! What we had: B U T T E R C H I C K E N [ 11,90€ ] We really loved the butter chicken! The cooked cashews were an excellent touch and the chicken was tender and marinated very well with the tomato and butter curry. This has always been my go to dish, and Natraj executed it wonderfully. M A N G O C H I C K E N [ 11,90€ ] The cream was very unique with very nice flavours of almond cream and mango with tender chicken. It was not spicy, however the mango and almond flavour was an exotic combination. Each cream dish came with fluffy basmati rice. I usually don't go get Indian food, much less get Indian food in Munich. After seeing good reviews for this place, and admittedly encouraged by an Indian friend within our group, we decided to try it. Our starving table of 5 was seated immediately despite not having a reservation (we arrived a little early for dinnertime), and I was relieved that they had English on their menu. I ordered a butter chicken curry, garlic naan, and lycheesaft (basically a lychee juice soft drink). The butter chicken was delicious, and to quote the words of said Indian friend, was one of the best he had ever had. At the end of the meal, we also got complimentary dessert! Overall, would definitely recommend this place as an alternative to the traditional Bavarian food in Munich. read more

The vegetarian dishes are delicious, as well as the Naan Breads and the Vegetarian Samosas. The Staff is super friendly and helpful when you want some suggestions. The Spice level can be made up to your taste, just ask! I only find the Mango Lassi is a bit small... Nevertheless, it is wonderful place and the atmosphere is invigorating. :D read more

We eat Indian food in almost every country we visit. It is our go-to favorite. Natraj was simply a stunning surprise in the caliber of the food and service. It was delicious food with well-balanced flavors served with panache. The owner did spend quite a bit of time with our table and was a wonderful host. I started my meal with a bowl of Dahl -- light, smooth and wonderful. I wanted to have the Lobster Curry but they were out so the owner suggested a special treat with prawns that would be similar. It was quite simply a stunning taste profile -- he explained that they start the dish with an overnight soaking of fenugreek to bring out intense flavor. I don't know the name of the dish but it was life changing. The naan was even well flavored. We ended the meal with a mango confection that was light and refreshing. If I lived in Munich, this would be MY Indian restaurant. read more

Fantastic ambience, great food, incredibly authentic, nice service, good facilities, accessible but subtle and quiet. Perfect perfect perfect. Having been around Bavaria and Austria for four months I can happily say this is my favourite place in Munich, favourite Indian place other than the local tandoori in Newick, England (up the loca people) and my favourite place of the whole season in the area (other than perhaps a nice Thai in Vienna)! 5 stars easily and whole heartedly!!!! Are areas for improvement such as making food more perfect and spicier and thicker but it's still wonderful so not too fussed. Recommend Naam bread here (provided I get a curry sauce to dunk it in!!). You'll see what I mean, it's incredible! Highly, highly recommend! read more

This is a quite small but cosy Indian restaurant with great food at descent prices. Run by a super nice and funny man that wil make you laugh at least once. Overall all the staff is very friendly. The food taste superb. One of my favourite Indian dishes, the Lamm Nilgiri, was the chosen for that night and was not dissapointed. The meat was tender and juicy, the green Nilgiri full with flavour (although I was expecting it to be a bit more spicy) and the Garlic-Naan was one of the best I've ever tried. I'm not giving 5 stars just because it took a bit long between the soup and the main dish. But overall is totally worth it read more

Our first-time visit to this place, and an overall positive experience. We're often going to other Indian restaurants, and have been to India recently. The waiter welcomed us, took our jackets and brought us to our table. The service was quick and very attentive. We ordered a few drinks and just a main course (no starters, we weren't that hungry due to a late lunch), and they brought some bread with dips, which tasted very nice. Our main courses were a mix of Thali, Tandoori and Curries, and all were very tasty. The curry was appropriately spicy, with a very nice taste. The chicken tandoori was tender and not dry at all. We ate the food with Naan bread, which was very tasty. The service is very attentive, and puts effort to serve rice to the customers, just like it is done in India itself. Price is reasonable for the food. I'm looking forward to visiting again. read more

The food was delicious and it is a cozy little restaurant. I had the duck curry with garlic naan and everything was very tasty (a little more garlic on the naan would have been nice). The service was good as well. If you're in the area and looking for decent Indian food, I'd recommend this place. I wouldn't bring a party of over 4 here though, as it's fairly small. read more

After two more visits since our first experience at Natraj, our impressions of this place have simply gone for the worst. Perhaps it was we've gone on busier days, but it doesn't justify the experiences that we had. I usually don't update my review unless something drastic happened (for better or worse), but our last experience was soooo bad that I cannot endorse this place anymore. The service was so chaotic when we went as a group of 6 that many inexcusable mishaps happened: (1) My friend ordered a duck dish, got a chicken dish, started eating it, only to have the staff take it away without saying why, leaving my friend confused. Then the staff brought the new dish back saying they mixed up the meats. I just hoped they didn't serve that wrong dish to another customer... (2) I ordered a the Vegetable Kadai as described as "Mushrooms with onions, tomatoes, mixed vegetables and coriander, fried in strong sauce." When I got my dish, I noticed there were no mushrooms, leaving me confused. I asked the staff, and they simply told me that they ran out of mushrooms. I was flabbergasted that they didn't inform me beforehand as I would have ordered something else and that they were not apologetic about it. (3a) We asked for the check and to pay separately. The staff not only refused to do this but suggested that we split the check 6-ways. What?!? To make it more aggressively irritating, the staff then gave us pen and paper for us to calculate our own tabs. We were running late for the movie, so you can imagine how annoyed we were. (3b) When we checked our bill, we noticed they charged us for a bottle of wine that we did not order. Given all that trouble, I doubt we would ever go back there again. read more

This is my favorite Indian food (so far) in Munich. The service is great, the location is great (right by the English cinema) and the food is to die for. I have tried the Butter Chicken, Badak Jhalfrezi, the Chicken Tikka and the garlic naan. All delicious! The prices are typical for Indian food in Munich, but the service and cozy ambiance of the place is what really won me over. It is great for a date night. read more

I love Indian food. Sadly, some of my favorite Indian restaurants, family-owned, have gone by the wayside during my life. I happened to be walking don the street in Munich and saw Natraj and thought, why not see what Indian food is like in Germany? Let's put it this way: if Natraj is representative, one need never go to India! I simply could not believe how wonderful each dish was as they kept coming out. I love Munich and have thought about returning simply to dine here; I would never go back without revisiting this exceptional cuisine. Great food, great service, good prices. Stopped in on a Wednesday evening and had no trouble sitting right away. The chicken pakora was perfectly cooked and spiced, the chicken vindaloo and chicken Tikka Masala were both a perfect mix of sauce and cream, and the nan was both well baked and spiced perfectly. Top it all off with prompt, attentive service, and you've got a great restaurant on your hands. I plan to return when I come back to Munich. read more

As good as it gets indeed! We've gone twice now, and it's on our list for places to take guests when they come to visit us. The service the first time was a bit slow, but the waiters were very attentive and nice. What's nice is that our guests had been vegetarians, picky people, and people new to Indian cuisine, and they all really enjoyed it. It is the first Indian restaurant in Munich where my dish was listed as "spicy" is indeed hot and not just bland. My favorite dishes so far have been the raita (pureed cucumbers in yogurt) as a side dish and as main dish, the sabji kofta. I am addicted to the flavors of sauce for the sabji kofta -- I was just sopping it up with naan and rice. The only drawbacks to the experience were that the check was slow to come and our first visit, the naan were a little flat, overly charred, and yet still somehow greasy. But the second time, the naan were fluffy, crisp and so delicious. read more

My family and I travel a lot internationally. Bring vegetarians and Indian, we always try to get a little taste of the local Indian food, even if for no other reason, to satisfy our tastebuds a bit. This restaurant exceeded our expectations! It's as good as any Indian food you'll find in the U.S! The breads and various curries were so good, we ate their twice! Our servers were so warm and attentive, they welcomed us with open arms the 2nd night and even gave us free dessert!
