Having two bathrooms, a laundry room, eat in kitchen, new fencing, doors, windows electrical upgrades and all the issues that go along with these repairs is a worrisome adventure. I have worked with two other contractors recently, and I can honestly say that they don't come even remotely close to the quality of work that Carlos and his crew provided. Carlos and Victor remodeled my entire bathroom, removing and reinstalling new tile, a vanity, mirror, light fixture, toilet and other bathroom accessories in addition to spackling and painting. From start to finish, Carlos demonstrated an extreme attention to detail and a genuine commitment to making sure everything was done properly. He does not cut corners, and he takes the time to do things the right way even when it requires extra effort. For example, he noticed that my bathroom floor was not properly leveled, something that could have easily been overlooked or simply worked around. Instead, he took the time to correct the problem and make sure everything was properly leveled before continuing with the project. He even painted door trim outside of my bathroom to make sure it transitioned well with the bathroom, something that was not his responsibility. That level of care and thoroughness is exactly what you hope for in a contractor. The spackling and painting were absolutely immaculate. I have hired professional painters in the past who did not come close to the quality of the paint job Carlos delivered. Painting is 90% prep work: sanding and spackling. You can tell when a contractor understands the difference prep work makes, and Carlos and his group certainly does. Carlos and his crew were also kind, respectful, professional, and a pleasure to have working in my home. They were extremely conscientious about keeping everything clean throughout the project. In fact, I commented to my husband that my house looked cleaner after they left than it did before they started! Another thing that really stood out to me was the pricing. His prices are more than fair considering the quality of work, attention to detail, and level of care he provides. You TRULY feel that Carlos takes pride in his work and wants his customers to be completely satisfied with the finished product. It is VERY rare to find that these days. I could not be happier with the work C&N Construction LLC did for me. We were extremely clear that the seating needed to be unobstructed--essentially, a counter-height table extension from the cabinets. The final design we approved included an apron, but no measurements were provided to explain how it would impact stool clearance. The rendering even showed five stools at the island, which gave us confidence that it would work as intended. Unfortunately, that was a huge mistake. Because of a poorly designed apron, it is physically impossible to fit standard counter-height stools under the island. The clearance is so low that no stool exists that both fits under the island and allows you to sit and eat comfortably. In other words, the centerpiece of our kitchen--the island seating--is a total failure. It is appalling that a professional kitchen designer would overlook such a basic and critical detail. We assumed we could trust her expertise, but that assumption has left us with an island that cannot function as designed and no reasonable options to fix it without a major renovation. If you are considering working with this company, be warned: do not assume the designer has considered the practical details. Double-check every measurement yourself, because we learned the hard way that they do not.

Based on our designer/contractor interactions, however, we were still considering Reico, even with the markups! But, the level of responsiveness dropped dramatically. Matt's was one of several estimates I sought, and pricing was all over the place. Matt's bid was competitive and fair, and he demonstrated a depth of knowledge and familiarity that made me immediately comfortable hiring him. Due to scheduling conflicts with another contractor installing a deck for me, I threw Matt a few curveballs. At least twice I had to ask him to move his start date, and when his team did arrive, the deck contractors were totally in his way. Throughout, Matt was patient and focused on his work. The guys he brought with him worked tirelessly over four days to excavate, remove old materials, prepare proper drainage missing from the old wall, rebuild the wall with new EP Henry pavers and regrade the area around the new wall - as well as around my driveway. Matt and his crew went above and beyond, doing extra regrading work not included in his estimate at no additional charge. And they cleaned up the work area at the end of the job beautifully. The wall looks so good that the old, shabby brick pavers by my pool now look sad by comparison. I'll be asking Matt Burns to come back to address that issue, and others, in the future.
