I love the shirts, but they are extremely oversized. I ordered xl for the first two and one of them is in reality an xxxl, while the other one is in reality a xxl. So, for the third shirt, i ordered a large, and it fits perfectly--and I'm getting the first two taken up at my seamstress. The shirts are all gorgeous, with a very durable, hefty fabric, but quite expensive, like all of Castaway's products. I doubt that the inconsistency in sizing is uniform throughout Castaway clothing, but probably confined to their madras clothing, which is made in Chennai (formerly Madras), India, as I have found wild inconsistency in madras shirts from another retailer. I cannot say that for sure, however, as I have no other items from Castaway. Last note: each of my shirts are long-sleeved, and the fabric is so thick they are too hot to wear on a very hot day.

I was excited to visit this boutique, as it was listed on a web article about must-do shopping when…read morevisiting Nantucket. What a mistake. The women working in this shop were about as unwelcoming as you can get in retail. Judging by the way they looked at my husband and me when we walked in, you would have thought we'd entered covered in the whale blubber the island used to be known for! We were the only shoppers in the store, yet not one of the three women I saw working made a significant attempt at being pleasant or helpful. The entire time we were there, the two blond women just watched us browse. Although they trailed slowly behind us, they did not act at all interested in our patronage...with one mediocre exception: one of the women half-heartedly told me about some of the shoes they carried when she saw me pause to look at them. But no one asked if we were looking for anything special or even asked if we were visitors to the island. We were asked the latter in every single shop and restaurant we visited subsequent to this one. No, it's not mandatory, but it sure is indicative of good customer service. The best part of the experience was when I asked one of the blond women about a particular designer that I thought I'd read they carried and the dark-haired woman who was standing behind the counter inserted herself into the conversation to snap at me the name of a different designer they carried. She said it twice, with the nastiest tone to her voice, all the while looking at something on the counter, as if she couldn't even be bothered. My husband and I left as soon as she stopped talking. This boutique was the first establishment we'd visited on the island, as we had only arrived an hour or so beforehand and the boutique was very close to our hotel. Apart from the staff at our hotel, we had not encountered any locals, and these women, with their noses in the air, made the worst first impression of the island I could have imagined. Too bad. If you've plans to visit Nantucket and want to do any luxury shopping, may I suggest another boutique? The labels and aesthetic are far superior at Olivela than at Serenella. The two women working at Olivela when I visited (Saturday, June 1) were absolutely delightful. In fact, they were so pleasant, welcoming, and helpful, the associates in Serenella could take a master class from them. I was glad to spend my money with OLIVELA, as they treated me like they valued my business. Also, a portion of the proceeds from each purchase at Olivela is donated to the Nantucket Cottage Hospital! I was lured in by their amazing selection of light weight tech pants on clearance for a mere $20! I…read morewas super surprised to find such a great deal on Main Street on Nantucket. Not sure if this was a end of season sale or they regularly have great sales, but I took full advantage. These pants will be great for hiking in the warmer weather. Service was a little frantic because they had a lot of customers in the store, probably due to the Christmas time rush when we visited. However, they were friendly. The only minor negative comment I could make is that their dressing rooms are a bit small and not very private (just a curtain). I just tried the pants on over leggings so it wasn't a huge deal for me, but you might want to wear layers if you're trying on clothes here
