My husband is an Emerald member, and we rent from them quite often particularly here in Mérida as we visit our family here. Most of the times we've had very pleasant experiences, and we even got an complimentary upgrade before. But this time, we had an issue with returning. We always returned our car at night to save 1 day rental. But this time we needed the car till late so we drove it to the airport before leaving Mérida. As the business hours indicate it opens at 7am. Our flight was departing at 8:10am. So we came to the main office at 6:35 am. (Which was even pushing) Of course no one is here except a security guy who knows nothing. He said we can leave the car and drop the key in their mail box, but how do we get to the terminal?!?! Not to mention we had my 75year old mother-in-law with us who walks slowly. So after checked in, there was an employee at the counter so we told him we brought the car here. His answer was we have to return it to the office. (Already 7:05am and still have to go through immigration.) He kept saying rudely "This is not a return location." How do we make it to our flight then? This company is a world wide company and should know how flights work, 24/7!!! We saw Avis already open when we drove by. The employee considered no deviation. So we paid the parking and just gave him the key, and told him to take care of it. When we got to the gate, they had already started boarding. We barely made it!! This is not the way to treat your most loyal customers. They used to give us a pass to leave the car at the terminal so why no more?!?!?! Just not acceptable. So we wanted all the people to know before you make a reservation with National here. Also last time we went to their office at ADO station on Calle 60, they were closed over 30 minutes before said office hours. Pretty much local way, but they really need to polish their business manner here. It was such an unnecessary stress to start our trip. read more
