DO NOT PAY THESE SCAMMERS!!!!! This place is an absolute joke, they exist to take your money and set you up with a second test. I've driven with my son for over a year and it's almost frustrating how "by the book" he drives. The "instructor" said he basically had failed everything, speeding, almost hitting curbs, even said he ran red lights because he turned on a red when it was legal to do so, the instructor said even though it is legal to do it, he felt unsafe. Then he mentioned following precisely 3 seconds behind cars and said my son was 2.5 seconds behind the car (must have a built in stopwatch in his head) which made him feel like "he almost had to slam on the brakes to stop them from crashing" STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE by all means. The cars they have are all falling apart too, probably shouldn't even be on the road. UPDATE: my son took the test with another company and pass with flying colors, i explained the thing that THIS company dinged him for and they let me know all of these things were actually legal and should not have been counted against him. They also failed him for "speeding" i let them know i have a gps tracker on my sons phone that records his speed and he never went over 36mph and the dork up front immediately got defensive and said it's extremely illegal for me to have a gps tracker on my sons phone and that he can report me to the DMV. I've never seen such worthless people working in an office before. Once again, don't give these scammers your money. read more

It was 95° outside when I arrived for my driving test at 2:30 and the woman in the office finally stumbled through her words enough to be able to say that nobody was allowed to wait in the office. I remarked that it was hot outside, and she said, snarkily, you'll be OK. So I waited outside under the shade of a tree. When the testing driver (Cory?) got there, he told me I needed to move because the tree was too close to the door, and I wasn't allowed to stand there. Their attitudes were insulting and dismissive. Unfortunately, I failed my test. I have to admit that the testor had some good points, even though his attitude bordered on rude. I will be retaking the test in a week or two, but certainly not with this company. As a company, I believe these employees need retraining in customer service. Possibly National needs to select people who have better people skills. If you are a senior citizen, I recommend finding another place to go because these folks will make you feel old, stupid, and disrespected. read more

My grandson took a driving test on a Friday, and he was told he failed because he hit a curb ("an automatic fail"). He asked if he could retake the test that day and was told he could take it on the following Monday. He returned the following Tues, paid again, and passed the test. When he finally had his appointment at DMV (they don't take walk ins) the attendant told him he had two passed tests in the system. National Driver Training had apparently submitted that he had passed rather than failed the first test. The attendant suggested he go see if he could get a refund because he didn't need the retest. He went directly to National Driver Training to try to get refunded for the 2nd test (and had to wait an hour because they were closed for lunch). He was told that they did not do refunds because the money covers them for "putting their lives in danger." Bottom line: he paid for a test he did not need, and they would not reimburse him. At the very least, this is shady. Beware if you are told you failed, you may have actually passed. Don't fall for a 2nd test without verifying that you actually were reported to DMV to have failed your first. He didn't remember the name of the person who tested him, but it was the same person both times. My grandson described him as a "big guy". He also described him as rude. I walked in and was greeted by a lady who had some funny jokes. That helped me to feel more relaxed. The guy who I drove with was personable and I mentioned I was a horrible test taker. He talked to me and made me feel like I was hanging out with a friend and not someone grading me. Test was over in 20 minutes and I passed. They only accept cash. Overall, a must for a test. My brother-in-law got a test here and I went with him. The staff was really nice. The test only took a few minutes and when they got back, they took the time to tell me and my brother-in-law the things he did well as well as the things he should do to become a better driver. I was very impressed with how thorough Caleb was in his briefing. He took the time to answer my brother's questions. This was such a good move for us. We had no idea the DMV would have such a long wait to schedule a test, but this school got us in and out the same day. We live up in Woodland Park so we had to come down to Colorado Springs for the testing. I got to sit in on the tester's comments to my daughter for her test. I could not believe what they marked her down for. They had her drive their car for the test. She was in an unfamiliar place in a car she didn't know and the tester marked off points because she drove 5 mph under the speed limit. Then she passed a spot where it was a school zone so she slowed down to 20. He marked her down because it was not an active school zone at the time. Then he marked her down because according to him it should only take 1 second for you to change lanes not the 3 seconds she took, are you kidding me? That is so dangerous. Then he marked her down because when she came to stop signs she was sometimes stopping a little over the line and sometimes a little under. Fair, but she learned to drive in a 12 passenger van not in the little car they made her take the test in that she had only been driving 10 minutes. She was trying to figure out how to know where the front of the car was still. Then he marked her down because she was in a right turn lane and waited for the light to turn before making the turn. She said she couldn't see because there was a large truck next to her and she couldn't see, which she made the right call then. She did pass her test but barely because of all this crap. I wish there was less than zero for this rating but one will have to suffice. Took my wife here to get her driving test because the wait for the DMV test is about 6weeks. First impressions weren't bad, just seemed like a driver license mill. They only accept cash, okay that seems shady. Then they tell the driver to go hop into the car and adjust the settings while they wait for the instructor, strike two for strangeness. I could not accompany her on this drive because we had our infant with us. On a side note, my wife is not an US born citizen and English is not her first language so patience goes along way, this instructor had none. First thing he does is berate her for not being able to locate the door unlock in a new vehicle she has never driven. Than during the driving portion marks her down (and later fails) her for avoiding a uhaul truck and not staying in her lane. When asking where to turn next she was told "I will tell you when to turn don't ask me again". She isnt entirely without fault as she failed to stay in her lane on a turn. How this is warranted as a fail baffles me. She even tried to reason with him and explain the worn lane lines and cramped residential roads but was told it wasnt their problem and to practice more and come back. Please stay far far away from this cash scam, it isn't worth you throwing away $50 for a ten minute exam, just wait for the FREE DMV test. If you like to gamble then step right up and try your luck! The owner/tester Caleb Horn is the absolute worst. He gets off on belittling and being condescending to kids taking their test. He made her grab me just to humiliate her and didn't even acknowledge me. 80 bucks just to nitpick and make up 8 federal laws. My daughter is 5'3 and he threw a fit that she was too close to the steering wheel and made her move back. Then got mad her posture was bad to compensate for having to move back. Said she failed 4 times over. Supposedly using one hand to turn (she never does that) driving too slow, driving too fast, breathing, making a left turn while in the left lane (seriously), not using a signal in a roundabout. Wtf does that? Oh no one does because it's literally NOT the law maybe stick to boyscouts Caleb. This aint it. I will be pursuing a refund. I made a same-day appointment which apparently this place "does NOT do appointments". There were two different desks when I walked in. Behind one was a woman. Behind the other was a man. The woman was very rude after the man asked how I can be helped. I was told that I must be across the parking lot because I was at the wrong location despite several images showing the outside of this exact location. It could not have been clearer that I was at the right place. I said thank you and headed for the exit. I don't think this is worth $50 dollars specially when anything can fail you and you have to pay the full amount again and again to retake the exams as many times as you need it. DMV didn't have a record of my teen's testing time, even though we showed the confirming email we had received. Government service at its finest, our tax dollars at work. They would not reschedule or give an indication of the next available appointment, we had to go home and look at that online. We had waited over a month for this appointment, so were glad to see a private enterprise right next door that could easily improve on DMV's performance. The office staff were pleasant and the banter as we read their procedures was entertaining. Good feelings gone. I, as the parent and paying customer, was neither greeted by nor introduced to the examiner. My teen was notably shaken upon return, very unusual as a happy and confident person very comfortable around adults. Some gems from our debrief: "Phone." "PHONE." (?? yes, that is a phone ??) "I WON'T START UNTIL YOU PUT YOUR PHONE IN YOUR POCKET. RECORDING THIS IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL." It was sitting with my keys and documents, I wan't recording anything. "I'm going to go over several things which you obviously have no clue about." "You are an accident waiting to happen." "Somehow you managed to pass." Afterward, my teen reported how he had interacted during the test, but I have not quoted those things as I didn't hear them myself. Completely believable, though, after what I observed. I'm a teacher, there are so many ways to correct and inform someone while still being mindful of their humanity and dignity. My husband is a business owner, we know how important customers are and we treat them respectfully. This was going to be a celebratory day, a rite of passage for my mature teen, who ended up leaving in tears. We had the operative word PASS on the certificate, so we are now able to leave this business far behind, but others, please beware. I went to American Driving Academy before and had bad experience. Felt like the elder man there just wanted to sell me the classes. Took my test at National Driving and passed first time. Anything I might have done wrong he explained to me. He also e me a minute to sit in the car collect my thoughts and not be as nervous. I'm 29 years old and a single working mom I told the man how much it meant to me. Really impressed too because their test is cheaper than American Driving Academy. The younger man at American Driving Academy was polite but the elder man I felt like was going to fail me just because I didn't take the class and I can't afford to throw away money. When I first walked into this establishment, from the air the gentleman gave off, I could tell I should've taken my business across the street - to their competitor. I did not receive a friendly "Hello", from the gentleman behind the desk, he instead, rather bluntly, asked if I "Had an appointment, or was just walking in from off the street." To start with, he already seemed very annoyed at the fact that I was even coming in. It was almost like I insulted him by entering the business. Totally unprofessional. I was walking in from off the street - I had no appointment. Nevertheless, they took me in and threw keys at me (literally), and I waited in the car for him. I took this test in the summer. The car had been sitting in the sun and felt as if it was easily 100° inside. Instinctively, I rolled down the two front windows. This, apparently, was a mistake. When he stepped outside, he asked me to please test if the lights worked. "Flip the turn signal to the right. Good, now left. Good. Now brake. Good, please take your foot from the brake." Now, I need to preface this and explain a little bit: I'm used to driving a stick-shift. When in a stick-shift, if the car is on, and you're stationary, your foot should be on the brake, and the clutch should be pushed in. This would explain my habit of having my foot on the brake, even in an automatic in park. It's purely subjective on whether or not it's proper to have your foot rest on the brake in an automatic in park. it has no affect on the transmission or the brake. So, of course, I, instinctively, had my foot rested on the brake after he confirmed all the lights worked. This made him quite angry. He began chiding me. "You need to listen to me, 100%. Don't assume anything." He continued: "If this is any indication of how your driving is I can just fail you right now." I responded to all of his admonishing remarks with apologies. "Yes, sir." "Sorry." "I apologize for that." However, each time I apologized, he just kept getting angrier with me. He kept adding onto each criticism. This literally went on for about two-straight minutes. He just had more and more to say about how I NEED to listen to him. I felt like I was having someone take their day out on me. I was already very nervous, this only added to it; I was extremely uncomfortable. Keep in mind, all this berating took place before I even left the parking spot. Then, when that was over, he asked me to please roll up my window. I began rolling up both windows. This was wrong again, apparently. He, again, scolded me for not listening to him. "I told you to roll up your window, not my window." Which then prompted another session of him remarking that I need to listen to him. I wanted to explain to try to explain to him that, I understand I need to listen to him -- I wasn't there to argue. I just wanted to get my license. My foot rests on the brake because I'm used to drive a stick etc. I knew if I tried to apologize, or excuse my actions, it would've made him angrier. So, after all that, I put the car into reverse, and failed as soon as we left the parking lot. It just so happened, on that day, there was to be a very large food-trailer parked very close to the exit of the parking-lot. I swung wide, wanting to make sure the instructor wasn't afraid of me hitting the trailer. I'm also used to driving a larger vehicle than their student-compact. In doing so, part of the car went into the number one lane, of a two lane road, failing me automatically. He had me turn right, then another right, then take another right into the parking lot, where I was informed I had failed within the first minute. As soon as we were back inside the building, he went over how I had failed, then he tried convincing me that I needed to take their driving course, -- which, of course, was more money. I learned later from the driving instructor across the street that their reasoning for failing me wasn't a valid reason to fail someone at all. Then I passed their competitor's test on my first try. I told him the story of how terribly I was treated and he just said "Yeah, that really doesn't surprise me at all. I've heard a lot of bad things about them." It appears from all the 1-star reviews this place is getting that they often scam people out of their $40. Do not go here. Avoid this scam. There's 3 other places in the parking lot to take the test. I brought my daughter in to take her test. The woman at the front desk was nice, the office was clean and nice and cool. Her test didn't take very long, unfortunately she didn't pass. He was professional, told her exactly what she did wrong. I am disappointed that she didn't pass the first time, she did have a lesson with them, and did extremely well during the lesson, but I don't have a problem with the company at all. Today, I took my grandson to get his driver's test (9/12/2018). The rude woman at the front desk said it would be 30 minutes and we could not wait inside of their office for his time. We got coffee at delightful coffee shop around the corner. Went back on time and was told by the driving instructor/grader that no one would be in the office so my daughter and i would have to wait elsewhere, so we waited inside. The rude front desk woman was there the entire time. As the instructor/grader was telling my grandson all the things that he did wrong, he finally told him that he passed. He looked at us and said, stay here, you can't come into the office. I will bring out the paperwork. I was not impressed with the rudeness of both the employees of this firm, I guess they don't like people like me in their office. Don't waste your time getting insulted. This is totally a scam. They fail you for pretty much anything so they can get your money every time you come back for retest. The tester is very rude and racist. He asked us where we were from and as soon as we told him we were from Mexico he changed his attitude towards us. I have been a driver for 35 years, never had an accident or a ticket, and I just moved to Colorado and needed to get the State driver´s license. He treated me like I had just learned how to drive. My son has been driving for 4 years and the tester told him he was not good enough to be driving around. I recommend you to go somewhere else. Pay attention to all the negative reviews they have. I went here to take my driving test. The staff inside the building were acceptably courteous, though I could tell from all the signs around the room and the papers they had me sign that they were used to dealing with less than friendly customers. Perhaps this is because they are less than friendly themselves. The instructor who tested me was impersonal, rude whenever I spoke, and critical of the safe driving practices I was taught by my previous driver's education school. This isn't a rant about not passing. I passed and he pointed out a few legitimate mistakes I made and numerous safe driving practices that he didn't like. The way he pointed them out was extremely unpleasant. When I am being courteous myself, especially when I am paying for a service, I expect that courtesy to be returned. He took my questions for clarification as arguments with his assessment. The experience was so awful I was in tears at the DMV afterwards. Find somewhere else to take the driving test. It's worth an additional drive to save yourself the ordeal. read more
