My son talked me into attending this school instead of Haverhill High…read more I was reluctant at first concerned about the image of a "vocational" school. I was pleasantly surprised that the image vocational schools are given is way off the mark Not only was he allowed hands on exploratory work in about 9 fields, he was evaluated according to his interests and learning style. The teachers are strict and the administration tolerates little They expect the kids to show up and show up on time. They let the parents know everything that is going on with the student ...if they're late, absent . If your child is out of school, they follow up and expect a reason. The kids are expected to behave, keep their noses clean and respect each other What I like about the school is that they prepare them for real world. They don't baby them My son was OSHA and "WORK READY" certified and will be going on COOP in a job in his field The only down side is the lack of resources for the kids in the form of guidance. I know the guidance counselors are trying but there are no programs in the Freshman year that guide, inspire and assist the students to think of college as a possibility -not on a grand scale anyway I was in constant contact regarding the COOP programs and they seem to be in a rut, relying on a few employers for the jobs instead of trying to get as many employers on board as possible to expose the kids to all kinds of work in their field My son has had to get me involved in order to get something done or nothing gets done at all. The guidance counselors know whose parents are involved and whose aren't. So if a kid has the misfortune of having parents who don't get involved or give a crap, they have little voice If you have your child attend here, you won't be sorry. Really The teachers can be quite awesome and the administration will not tolerate a slack teacher The kids come out independent and ready to work. Just make sure you get to know your guidance counselor well and don't think that if your kid can't get the resources he needs to look beyond high school by himself, its automatically it is their fault. You have to push a bit

I must admit that I had reservations about sending my daughter here. When I was a teenager,…read moreWhittier was the place where all of the misfits were sent. However, the school has made quite a transformation in the past 20+ years. It is highly regarded as one of the top academic institutions in the area. As an educator, I want a top quality education for my child, and I've certainly found it here at Whittier.

I run a non-profit. We rent office space in the UTI Campus Building. So I have no affiliation with them except for that. But every day I see the employees, the teachers, teh students, and teh facilities, and it is IMPRESSIVE! Students? Well, yes, you may not always get the 'cream of the crop', but you get some great smart minds. But what is more impressive? They are courteous, dressed neatly, clean and well mannered. The school stresses this after all. they want to make sure to teach you how to be the most presentable to potential employees! Facilities? Well, UTI is a national Trade school. Basically, auto and diesel mechanics (in other parts of the country, they also have body shops, etc). But you can go through the 51 week program with all you need to land a job. And not just an entry level job doing oil changes, but more. it doesnt just teach basics. FORD has their FACT advanced training program here. Nissan and Infiniti as well. Mercedes does their STAR program here, and the big trucks and diesel area is AMAZING - I am impressed to say the least. staff? They seem to care. Even one of the front desk receptionists is working on a project to help the students learn how to study better. They work with job placement, they teach great programs, and everyone is great and friendly. Seriously. if you are looking to go into the auto or diesel/truck echanic field, you woudl be STUPID not to check it out here. Professional, educational, and just an amazing school

I don't suggest sending kids to this school, especially if your kids have special needs. The…read morefounder/board member/director Kate Yoder dislikes young kids and autism kids. She discriminated my kid as soon as we walked in the recital room. She asked us not to sit in the front row because she said my kids were "young". Approaching to the end of the recital, she ordered us to sit in the back because she said my kids were "noisy". She knew my kid had ASD. But my kid is high functioning and behaves pretty normally. There're other young children and baby(ies) in the audience making sound. My kid's teacher who was also in the audience approved in writing later that my kids were not disturbing. The teacher actually had suggested us to sit as close as to the front. We were targeted by Kate Yoder from the beginning. My kid has autism. We are minority. I had never met her before. My kid met her only briefly years ago. To rationalize her discriminated and targeted actions, Kate Yoder even made up some actions that my kids never did "legs in the air, lying on the floor" in writing. It was also proved by other audience not happening at all. It's so evil for an educator to put on innocent young children!! Whenever I requested Kate Yoder to apologize, the school canceled my kid's signup of the summer program and kicked my kid out from the school. And it happened twice. What a shame for a place that is supposed to be for beautiful things like music and care! Kate Yoder should step down from all her positions of this organization!

It's a good place to take lessons. My friend teaches a class for 0-12 year olds there.read more
