I had taken a pottery class before (in another state) and I was feeling "meh" about it after that - I didn't seem to get it and ruined more pieces than I finished. Turns out, it wasn't me - I hadn't found a great teacher. Knaide, who teaches the classes and runs the studio (@raticalclay on instagram), is that great teacher I needed. Since starting at Studio on the Common I have fallen in love with throwing pottery. Knaide is so clear in teaching instruction, gives very specific advice, will readily demonstrate useful hand positions, has been able to answer any question I've asked, and clearly is extremely knowledgable about the craft. While the studio itself is also very organized and clean, I admit I signed up for a second class mainly because I still want teaching from Knaide. As long as Knaide is teaching there, I will continue to sign up for future classes!

Nick also went out of his way to check in with us when we were in the studio by ourselves practicing our dance and showed us a few tips for how to make everything look more natural and flow better. I don't doubt that some parents experience good things from Artisan. From what I hear their infant…read morecare is excellent and we loved the addition of music in the curriculum. But in speaking to other parents of kids my daughter's age, they were/are having similar issues with staff and management that we had before we left. I would recommend against transferring into Artisan at least after toddler stages. We immediately looked to Artisan for a preschool program because we had toured there when she was an infant and loved the presentation from that time. My daughter began her experience with daycare at a small in-home facility in Burlington and did very well there, but eventually grew out of that format and needed more structure with children her age. We didn't look anywhere else, and were excited to move her into a preschool classroom shortly after turning three last year (May 2018). Over the summer, we were presented with mixed reports of behavior issues (completely uncharacteristic of what we had seen to that point) and other reports of her doing well. We were not sure what the problem would be other than maybe a transitional issue. After a teacher change in the fall, we discussed the plan created with the previous teachers over the summer at the outset with the new staff. We began to notice however that they didn't seem to be following it. We again kept getting mixed reports from different teachers as to her progress. To be honest, her teachers' quality seemed to go down with the new staff. Also new was Director Julie, who eventually presented us with an ultimatum in November 2018 that we enroll her in public funded special needs evaluations or be removed from Artisan because they had no answers. This pressure was confusing and didn't sit well with us and we found their expertise to be lacking, so we didn't trust their insistence on there being a special need issue. I come from a family full of educators at all levels and their inability to creatively find and enact a plan didn't seem right with anyone. We pulled her from Artisan before Christmas 2018 and found a spot for her at Primrose in Burlington for even more money that Artisan was charging, but the cost difference was well worth it. Any behavioral issues were quickly dealt with and now, at 4.5 years old in a pre-k program she is excelling in all areas and working on first grade material. We're given glowing praise from her new teacher frequently. We purposely waited to see how she fared at her new school before posting any reviews, but her success only further shows me Artisan staff did not have the training or creative capacity to solve what amounted to be a simple problem. My wife and I experienced a lot of stress over her inconsistent care and Julie's ultimatum. Now we sleep very well knowing our daughter is in good hands at Primrose.

The teachers are all so warm and friendly, which is such a comfort when leaving your child there all day. They always have smiles on their faces and are ready to be silly with them. On more than one occasion, my daughter has been sad because she "misses Miss Melissa" or "misses Miss Tiffany." I feel so lucky I found the School for Early Excellence!!

Unfortunately I had to give a star in order for me to post…read more Signing on with David Mercure to the medical assistant program there were many unfulfilled promises. Before joining this program I had done my research and emailed the school to find out more information. One important factor I needed information for was if this program would help if I chose to work in pediatrics. Of course the answer was yes. Lie! For the little assignments we completed pediatrics was not covered in any topic. The schedule was set up to be 3 days a week 4 hours each day including the hands on module which followed this schedule except was opposite days of the online portion. The instructor Westley Ellis would take away from our learning time problem dumping his life problems on to us students. Quite a few times class was cancelled because Westley forgot he had to teach class. How do you forget about your job? During each module the assignments and grades were posted, but once the next module started all previous work completed along with proof of grades was deleted. There was no access for this. If you had any problem regarding your assignments or the website Cengage you were to contact Cengage because Westley never had an answer. Everything we needed for a job was supposed to be included. CPR course and either the school's choice for an externship or a medical facility of your own choice. When it came time to take the CPR course I had to pay out of pocket for the course and only one location was available in downtown Boston. Having one location available wasn't very do-able so I had to find my own CPR course. When I had asked Westley about other CPR locations being available he had told me that was the only option. There were many problems with this program and every time I had a question I would ask Westley as he was the instructor for this. He told me to ask David who I had signed on with, and guess what, he told me to talk with Westley. it was a continuous back and forth with both of them with talk to him, no talk to him and never getting an answer. For employees to work at this job for a few decades they really aren't knowledgeable in their career. One of the main problems during this program was that I chose my own externship. My externship offered to take me in earlier than the course end date, so of course I jumped for that opportunity and reached out to Westley and David for their approval of starting my externship early. This was a fight for weeks to be able to get an answer of what I could do. There excuse for me not starting early was that I had missing work and my grades weren't good. I had an A in every part of the program and all of work had been completed. The owner Song Jin had to provide me my own transcript which proved my grades and my finished assignments. When it came time to receive my certificate, it took weeks when I was supposed to receive it "within 30 days of completion" so I was told, but another student was told via text by Westley once they had finished the course they would receive their certificate the next day. 42 days later I was still looking for my certificate. I had to go in person in order to get things rolling and have "papers processed" in order for me to have my certificate. When trying to get my certificate I was then told to talk with Song Jin who seemed to be just as confused and was also not really helpful. Adding on to everything being included, I was told that there was not going to be a state exam. It seemed odd but I went with it, "they knew best." At the very end as I was starting my externship I was informed by another student that a state exam was needed. I had asked Westley where I could go to take the exam, and his words were "google it." He said via text that some jobs would need you to take the exam there at work online. A certificate of COMPLETION is not good enough. A job wants you to be certified before hiring you. 3 months after me completing the program and starting my externship I finally received my certificate after continuously reaching out. Oh and they stopped providing 1098-T for tax documents. They did have them about 7-8 years ago. They go through a TFC bank and when I had asked them for my 1098, they said to call the school and they will have all of the information you need. I would NEVER recommend this school/program. A waste of time and money. If you decide to join just be prepared that you: This school is very unprofessional and needs to be shut down. 1. Need to find your own CPR course. 2. It's best if you choose your own externship site. 3. You will need to take a state exam find a place yourself and pay it out of your own pocket. 4. Don't bother asking any questions to anybody as they don't know. 5. Be prepared to hear more about Westley's life problems than learning. 6. Don't expect going into job you learned what you were supposed to. Start teaching yourself and doing your own research on medical topics.

Instructors: The certificate has various classes (Photoshop, InDesign, Google Analytics, Wordpress, HTML, etc.) and different instructors teaching each one. I liked the style of each instructor and how patient they were when I or other students got lost or missed something. They never made us feel like we were left behind. The days were long and intense and most of us couldn't wait to be able to apply our new skills in our jobs and projects. The instructors even mentioned that we could reach out to them long after classes were over to ask them questions that may come up in our work in the future. I think this is such a great benefit that the school provides. Facilities: Super clean, awesome breakfast treats and coffee, and a cafeteria next door. If you are coming for a one or two day class, you can just buy lunch next door. If you are coming for a month long program like I did, I suggest packing your lunch. Computers and software are all new and up to date. Career Coaching: During the certificate program, they set me up with a career counselor who helped me tweak my resume and sent me various job opportunities. The school has been around for a while and has really good connections to lots of local companies. This is a huge plus if you want to take the course to get a job afterwards. Location: The train station is about a 15 minute walk from the school. It's not a bad commute at all. All in all, I highly recommend the classes and school. I can see myself doing another certificate program here in the future.
