From start to finish, Rodriguez Landscaping has done great work for me. The job started as a new…read moreretaining wall and stairway. As my plans grew last summer, so did Rodriquez's involvement. When Dave came to estimate the job, he was clear that I'd have about a six month wait due to their schedule and frozen ground. However, I was able to negotiate the immediate addition of a new concrete walkway which they could squeeze in between two other jobs. That willingness to be flexible helped me avoid a muddy pathway all winter long. In early spring, I checked in with them about scheduling my retaining wall. I got a speedy return call saying that if the weather held they'd be able to do that job between two larger ones delayed by the rain. A crew came the following week at 8:30 and worked till 6:30 each day. Wednesday was cut short by a downpour, but the guys came back for a half day on Saturday. They also cleaned up really well each day, causing a couple neighbors to stop and thank me for their thoughtfulness. All that flexibility in scheduling was possible because they had ordered and secured the materials six months earlier. During construction, I added a new concrete pad for an air conditioner. I also learned that my new fence would require tubes for concrete to be installed. In both cases Dave came over promptly to update the quote so there were no surprises. However, there was a big surprise throughout the project: people walking by, driving past, or making a specific trip took photos, shot videos, rang the bell to chat and ask questions. I ultimately needed to ask the guys for some business cards. From quote, permitting, and supply ordering to execution and clean up, Rodriquez earned 5 stars.

We discussed a very large front yard undertaking with him. We wanted a "low grass" front yard concept and I explained to him some general flowers and plants I wanted involved. He put an outdoor landscaping "floor plan" together if you will. We talked things through and after some slight adjustments, we moved forward! He was great to organize and plan with. The issue is the timing of all of the plants and when they would be arriving due to the "zone" we are in. On the day of the project he and his team member arrived bright and early, discussed the plan and drawing once again to make sure we were all on the same page and got to work. Ben handled much of the getting rid of the grass and having level and even dirt. We had him bury a pipe regarding our excess water pump so that it was clean and underground and to the sidewalk. Then all of the plants were put into place and everything was covered with mulch. We even had him take out some large bushes that were in the back yard as part of the project while he was here. He was great to work with, had awesome follow up and always explained why something was happening. In his profession there obviously are some weather dependencies, so he was always good about keeping us informed if something had to slightly shift in the schedule.

Here was our experience. We had His Workmanship come in to do some weeding and mulching. We gave instructions in 3 ways: verbally, in written form, and even drew a diagram! The two high school / college kids ended up pulling out over 15 plants and a 4.5 foot tree out of a rain garden, that we had just spent over a year of work on to get the way we needed to absorb water. Easily over $1,000 of plants were pulled out, plus the fact that the rain garden is useless now (because it was fall, and not enough time to re-plant before winter). This rain garden kept water from freezing on the sidewalk, and causing a hazard. After 2 kind emails to Eric Pfeffer that weren't returned, and 2 unreturned phone calls as well, we decided to look him up. Google "Eric Pfeffer Minnesota tax", if you desire. He has no integrity in 2025 (as judged by completely ghosting dozens of reviewers who asked to discuss a negative customer experience). And he had no integrity from 2017-2021, when he was charged with 6 felonies for tax evasion, underreporting approximately $700,000 in income.

After she was here for some time, she told me that she was leaving 20 minutes early. If you know anything about His Workmanship, they will not give you any money back for non-performance. I'll get a credit for any future work, but that won't happen. Then when it came time to pay them, I was paying in cash. I tried telling the worker that I wasn't going to pay for the time she wasn't there but she refused to leave until she had the full amount. Then I asked for a receipt for the cash and she told me that she can't give one but that Eric would send me one within a couple of minutes. Which he NEVER did, despite repeated requests on my part. I would NOT recommend them to anyone!!
