And I wouldn't be able to go out into the world presenting my best self without all of your help. I hope all your patients know this!!! You guys really make a difference on top of being great people " ---if you've ever struggled with chronic health issues, and the difficult reality of living in a world with a body that doesn't work like it "should", you have a home (and a safe, happy--even joyful--space) at Origin Health Center. Examples (I have many more but will just share a few) - she always makes sure I understand the results of not only tests she orders but ones that my specialists order if they haven't explained them to me. She makes recommendations that are outside of what I would consider often - like she recommended a specific supplement that stopped the hot flashes I developed postpartum for four years vs another provider who told me "well if that's your only symptom, maybe get some fans." She cares about my kids even though they haven't seen her as patients yet*, she is efficient yet spends as much time with me as she can to address my concerns, and she remembers details about me that make me feel cared for and seen. As a now pretty functional person with severe PTSD, I have to stay on top of treatment and such, and to that end Dr. Logan has been willing in the past to communicate with my psychiatric nurse practitioner and therapist - and honestly, she's one of the only MDs/DOs I work with who has been willing/able to communicate with other providers directly in the past several years and it's SO MUCH more efficient than my other providers passing messages back and forth through me like a game of telephone. (*They don't see her yet only because her office doesn't have connections to an after hours pediatric urgent care clinic - once my kids are old enough to not need that we will be switching.) It's really challenging being a provider in today's American healthcare system, and I really appreciate Dr. Logan and how hard she works to make sure her patients get the best care possible within the broken system we're all functioning in. (I'm a different kind of provider in healthcare so see the provider side often - but I'm also a patient.)

I am a 26-year-old with a LOT of complex health issues - chronic illness and pain, history of trauma (sexual violence and a traumatic assault where I survived being stabbed multiple times), and then at the beginning of 2021 I fell and severely injured my spine and tailbone. Dr. Jaime Young has always listened very intently and compassionately and gave knowledgeable suggestions for treatment options. I am very cautious about taking prescription medications and she has always answered all my questions transparently. She is very prompt with sending prescriptions, and she helped me get a disability placard for my car which was long overdue. I've had a lot of issues with my insurance, and changed insurance a few times since being her patient, but she and the office staff have always been patient and helpful in sorting it out. Dr. Anthony Jones is also wonderful, although I've never been seen by him personally, he has helped with approving an emergency refill on my prescription when Dr. Jaime Young was out of town and I had an insurance issue. I highly recommend both of them as PCPs!

When school is back, all of the timing for appointments is off and it's because they are running as tight as possible on staff. If you have come in for a 9 AM appointment, that's when the door opens, you will be seen after that. Still, with that in mind I have not had any issues with receiving appropriate and adequate care for my health concerns. All staff and clinicians have been more than kind, courteous, and respectful. Carbon is great in a pinch for urgent care. The downside is that their app doesn't communicate with Epic, which a lot of larger primary care providers (like Sutter and UCSF) do use.

I had a drug screen scheduled at carbon health which was pre-registered through my employer, to…read morewhich I came to the site at Berkeley on Telegraph to. I didn't wait long, maybe around 5-10 minutes for someone to come to the front desk. I presented my confirmation email holding information for my registration number, account number and bar code. Front desk staff Angie said that I would have to pay out of pocket because she's not familiar with the email I presented to her. She stated they only accept two different entities that schedule drug screens. The instructions I received directed me to Carbon Health, while the screening itself was being managed through Vertical Screen. When I arrived, I attempted to explain the situation to the front desk receptionist. It became apparent that my explanation wasn't being fully understood, so I referenced the different entities listed in my email and specifically identified Vertical Screen as the third-party provider. When I mentioned, "It's through Vertical Screen," I was met with a confused "What?" in a noticeably dismissive tone. After repeating myself, the receptionist looked at her computer and simply responded, "K." Unfortunately, this interaction felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. I also spoke with the same receptionist over the phone the day prior to schedule my appointment and experienced a similarly indifferent and discourteous tone. During my wait to be called by a provider for my drug screening, she also answered a phone call, requested to put the patient on hold, and went on her phone for 5 minutes prior to picking up the call -- a greater representation of unprofessionalism in the workplace. I understand that front desk staff often handle a high volume of patients, non-members, and third-party vendors, and that challenging days happen. However, professionalism and courtesy should remain a priority, regardless of the circumstances. As someone who works in healthcare administration for large healthcare organizations where patient experience and service are heavily emphasized, I was disappointed by the lack of basic customer service. My experience with the receptionist significantly impacted my overall impression of this location. I hope management takes this feedback as an opportunity to reinforce the importance of respectful and professional communication with all patients and visitors.

They were able to change my appointment time with no issues. The office is clean and aesthetically pleasing. Dallas (front desk) was easy to talk to and friendly and Dr. Finnegan was so freaking amazing. I came in with right hip, knee and calf soreness from biking and weight lifting. During the visit she identified my left glute turning off, which in turn was affecting my right hip and knee. She helped me gain my range of motion back on my right side, including my neck. I also had hit my thumb a while back and was having soreness in my wrist and she was able to reduce the pain. In both appointments she was able to identify other points of tension and worked on those as well. Before leaving, she gave me tips on how to correct the posture and how to work on myself at home. I highly recommend Core Wellness as it feels like they are there to make sure you are feeling your best and not just trying to take your money. They also take insurance and will look into whether your insurance does cover chiropractic work!

Update to my original review:…read more I was hoping to update my original review to add a positive twist. While I'm apologetically correcting how she referred to herself (see below), I can only add that Carolyn seems now to be practicing the fine art of "CYA". Backpedaling and claiming innocence. She has reached out to me via voicemail with a request to discuss supplement policy - NOT her profit making off of them. (GREED?) Overall, with her dismissive attitude, defensiveness regarding supplement profits, TREMENDOUS PUSHINESS to purchase supplements from her preferred provider (which would increase her bank account + lack of transparency) and questioning her associate's decisions in my presence, I would still 100%, encourage others to seek holistic healthcare elsewhere. ORIGINAL: I've read off a lot of great reviews regarding Carolyn's chiropractic care. But this is not that. Carolyn is a true business woman first; a functional medicine doctor on the side. Her bedside manner could use a good dose of polishing. She needs to keep in mind who is working for who and keep her ego in check. I sought a functional medicine doctor to address my gut and stress issues stemming from decades-old C-PTSD. From the moment we met, Carolyn went to work on treating these conditions. She provided me with supplement treatment and valuable suggestions, which I followed and began feeling better. Carolyn didn't stop there. She immediately showed interest in replacing specialists I've been working with for years, which was a red flag. I hadn't made these requests, and her interest was unnerving and aggressive. I told her not interested on a couple points yet she continued to push her agenda and added more unnecessary supplements to my treatment plan. Carolyn's website states an option to purchase supplements from other sources than those she prefers. That was appealing to me. What she does not disclose is that she receives a profit off her clients when they make purchases from her preferred supplement provider. Upon learning that Carolyn's preferred supplement provider allows practitioners to set their own price to charge clients, I questioned her about what percentage, if any, she profits. Her response, a DEFENSIVE; "I am not legally or ethically (clearly, MORALS don't count) required to provide a separate written disclosure regarding practitioner margins on supplements or lab tests. Because supplement purchases are optional and not tied to care, a commission disclosure is not mandated." Yet her website states: "Supplements prescribed by our practitioners as part of a personalized treatment plan are considered medical necessities." SO WHICH IS IT? OPTIONAL OR MEDICALLY NECESSARY? "I provide patients with a 10% discount through Fullscript, and the practitioner margin I receive is approximately 25%, which is well below the typical margin received by practitioners." (The other practitioners do use verbiage which disclose a profit.) "Recommendations are made based on clinical judgment and patient need, not financial incentive." So then WHY all the unnecessary additions, even after I told her NO? $$$ I did not purchase every supplement added to my plan In 3 months time, I did purchase $2,781.12 in supplements from which she unapologetically PROFITED. No transparency required. None provided. Icky. A huge turnoff, learning this from a third party. The last time I met with Carolyn, I reported several personal gains. Yay! The treatment was working! Each one of my gains was met by sadly dismissive remarks; followed by her admission of being "nitpicky". (Apologetically edited from original review.) During that same visit, she admonished the nutritionist she works with for recommending an OTC Collagen/Peptides for me. "I'll ask her; we we have a meeting tomorrow" and "you can buy that stuff anywhere". Followed by.....another supplement addition to my plan which she could profit from! The WHY is clearly because Carolyn wasn't making a profit on the OTC brand. By the way, the nutritionist, Magdalena, is lovely and down to earth. If you've read my review this far, I hope you will think very seriously about taking your health concerns to an honest, transparent naturopath with morals (they do exist).
