The hospital is clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and communicate well between the doctors and "fur parents" regarding treatment and care. Today, we took our dog in to get a needed vaccination and the doctor was good with her. Very gentle, soft spoken and calm which helped ease her anxiety. The prices, while they can and do seem expensive, it is actually not bad. I compare this to "the others" that charge significantly more. So, this helps. If you want solid customer service and support, a great facility and fair pricing, bring your animal friend here for its care.

First, I think the price for cremation and for ashes returned is outrageous since my pet was already deceased at drop off. They quoted me at over $400 okay. My dog is 63 lbs and was already deceased. Second, you would think that for a pet hospital that is so bougie and charges that much for cremation that they would offer you at least a Death Certificate. But no. No death certificate will be offered if you opt to not have ashes returned. Just FYI- if you have a pet and want ashes returned after cremation, you'll need to save some dough.

Finding a truly cat friendly vet has been such a relief! We adopted a very sick kitten and also have an older cat who struggles with anxiety and respiratory issues. From our very first visit, Dr. Hester and the staff made us feel secure in that we were getting the best care for our cats. They took the time to listen to all of our concerns and provided tailored care for both of our cats. They treated not just our kitten, but our anxious older (big and kind of mean) cat with such kindness and understanding. Their ability to handle our anxious cat with such care and professionalism is truly commendable. The staff always makes us feel heard and comfortable, and their dedication to their patients is evident. We have done X-rays, multiple medications, food changes, vaccines, and annual exams with them and prices have been very reasonable and clearly stated to us!

They made everything feel easy and smooth and took away so much of the stress. I am so thankful to have a vet and staff that genuinely cares about my dog. I would like to add that in the original phone call on 5/5, I did request to speak to a manager or Doctor at least twice. Call me a Karen, but I really wanted to speak to someone higher up to see if an exception could be made but the receptionist told me that the managers and Doctors will not make an exception. Clearly, there is a break in communication there because an exception was made and Donna did mention to me on the phone call she had no idea about the scheduling mistake until I made my initial Yelp review. Reader's Note: I did not attend the vet appointment due to having a prior commitment so my MIL took Komori. Everything I state about the appointment is from her POV. My MIL said Komori was comfortable and well cared for and we were able to get all our questions answered about Komori's health. Overall, it seemed like a great first experience. Why did I take off a star? - Maybe this is just a personal preference but apparently they didn't give Komori any treats. At his old clinic, the Doctors and Vet Tech constantly gave him treats or at the appropriate moments to make him more comfortable. I believe that because this was a first appointment, to ease Komori's anxiety of a new place, new people doing random things to him, some treats should be offered or used to associate a positive memory with going to the vet. - After Komori came home from his vaccinations we noticed the injection site was swollen. We also noticed if we pet him a certain way at the injection site, he would yelp/whimper so it must hurt. This never happened at his old clinic which is a YELLOW FLAG for concern. This review is 36 hours after his appointment and it is still swollen. If this does not go down, we will be returning to check on it. Overall, if we don't come back to check on the injection site, we will be coming back for any follow-up appointments. Waipio Pet Clinic has obviously proven with past Yelp reviews that they are a great clinic, which is why we considered coming here in the first place (besides how close it is to our home). We are grateful for management for communicating with us and correcting the scheduling issue we had previously and look forward to growing a stronger relationship with them moving forward.

I called around to get them groomed. Two places flat out refused to groom them because they are chows. When I contacted Maikai via yelp, Lita was agreeable to get them groomed and scheduled my appointment. The appointment day and time came and no groomer showed up. I called Lita who told me she'd find out what happened. She called me back within half hour and let me know the groomer got bitten at the previous appointment and wasn't able to make it. She offered to reschedule the appointment and we did. I wasn't there for the rescheduled appointment and was worried my dogs would be temperamental since they never been groomed by an outsider, but it was my husband who got temperamental since he didn't understand what needed to be done. My mom was there to alleviate concerns and told me the groomer did the best she could. Because they were matted, the only option was a shave. My mom said the groomer took her time and really cared about her work. After the grooming was done, I received a call from Lita who discussed with me how the grooming went. I appreciate the call since I couldn't be there and I'm the primary caregiver to my boys. I give them five stars because 1. They took my boys in when other places wouldn't, 2. My mom said the groomer took care in grooming them, 3. Lita was professional in communication, 4. They're chows chows, not the easiest breed to groom because of fur and temperament, 5. They came to the house which made it easier to handle my boys. I hope to use them again in the future, but with my boys fur in better shape the next time around.

The Vet, Dr Pang, had poor bedside manner. Came in already dismissive of my complaints for my dog. She wasn't prepared when she came in the room. As if she didn't know why I was there. Said she couldn't examine my dogs nostrils because my dog is excited and keeps moving. Said we needed to sedate my dog. Didn't have any light or anything to look at my dogs nose. Some questions/comments she made that were annoying: "Are you sure she's five months old, she seems older cause she's big" "How did you look in your dogs nose?" "She's not sneezing now" "She seems to be breathing normal" (her first time meeting my dog, doesn't know my dog is not a mouth breather) "Did you hear reverse sneezing" (as if i know what that is) I had to get on the floor to help hold my dog so she would look at both nostrils or try to with a light. Also theres an exam table not sure why we're on the floor. She offered very little info into what she thought was going on with my dog. Only discussed further when i kept asking questions. She prescribed a steroid taper but on the bottle the instructions were incorrect did not indicate a taper. Did not appreciate her bedside manner and lack of trying to look at my dog for the issue i brought her in for. Then as i was leaving i got blocked in to the small parking lot by an employee that parked her truck with the bed blocking the way out. That employee came out and saw me unable to leave but waited till i asked her to move the truck to move it. Gets two stars because of the front staff.
