I happened to stumble across Glory when they first opened, and the owners are a very friendly and warm mom and daughter who have literally the best fashion taste. They have always have a discounted rack outside their store of styles that are 50%+ off. The quality is superb, the garments are mostly a cotton or cotton blend and just so comfortable with special details such as pleats and darts strategically placed to make the most flattering cuts. I really appreciate the ladies offering discounts here and there if you purchase multiple items and they always remember me, so I know they make their customers feel so special. The shopping experience really reminds me of shopping in Tokyo or Hong Kong (sadly I haven't traveled to Korea yet but would love to) and discovering new interesting items on every visit. A real gem is their pants collection. They have simply the most fantastic pieces and most of them have elastic waistbands so it can fit virtually all sizes! I gained some weight so most other boutiques don't offer these types of pants. I purchased some in the past and it's held up extremely well, and I get compliments everywhere I go when wearing it. A bonus is their resusable shopping bags. I LOVE their bags and use it all the time. Be sure to follow them on their IG for the latest clothing they offer https://www.instagram.com/glory__losangeles

This store deserves no stars…read more This store is located on the main floor of Galleria Plaza in Koreatown, Los Angeles (suite 201). My experiences with Korean owned store is never pleasant, they are pushy and stare down at you if you walk out without buying anything and they follow you around as if you are going to steal something. Haute in case is completely out of bound. First of all, I walk in trying to find a Chirstmas gift for my grandma, maybe a knit sweater or a vest...as soon as I walked into I was not greeted (that's fine) they were too busy talking crap about a customer who was not obviously Korean (she was Hispanic). The 2 store's staff basically said they do not want "these people" touching and messing up the rack when they never buy anything. Seriously how racist is that? This Hispanic lady talked out and they were still talking mad crap. One of the ladies finally approached me asked me if I was looking for anything and they have lots of pretty things. I told her I was looking for a knit sweater or a vest. She said who is it for? I told her "grandma" and she gave me a funny look and said "we don't carry anything for older people BYE"...she literally pushed me out. WOW what a customer service. The whole place in the store looks as if it's fir for older generations. I will never ever walk into this store again and I strongly encourage you NOT to support such embarrassing store in the Korean community. HAUTE is embarrassing to the Korean community!

I had lunch with my mom and halmoni and one of my halmoni's friends a few weeks back, and…read moreafterward, they went shopping at Western Baekhwajum and invited me to tag along. My halmoni has lost a lot of weight recently (she's 87 and shrinking rapidly), and my mom wanted to buy her some clothes at what she described as a Korean-style shijang by the Koreatown Plaza. I decided I wanted to see this, and blew off work for another hour to witness their spree. Western Baekhwajum was as described--a shopping mall made up of a maze of individual stalls, with clothes and accessories hung up high to entice a sparse crowd of exclusively Korean-from-Korea shoppers. The wares were definitely meant for ajummas and halmonis, bright colors and loose silhouettes, no identifiable overlap with current fashion trends. There was plenty for my halmoni, though, and I thought some of the things she got looked quite becoming on her. We ended up shopping at one stall with lots of good, comfortable clothes that she liked, and the ajumma running it was helpful and amiably pushy in that boisterous, hustling shijang vendor way--fishing out must-try finds, assuring us that her prices were good. I got the sense that the clothes were significantly more expensive than they would have been in Korea, but hey, they had to travel a long way to recreate Namdaemun Shijang in Koreatown. I'd recommend Western Baekhwajum for shopping with your halmoni. It's not like anywhere else you've shopped in L.A.

There are a lot of little stalls where Korean folks sell their wares. Most shops are targeted toward middle age Korean ladies, but there are a few stalls meant for younger women, men, and children. There are also random specialty shops selling: underwear, hats/hair clips/accessories, makeup, flowers, a little market, watches/watch repair, and shoes. There's also an alteration lady who has pretty reasonable rates. I wouldn't say this is a "hip" place to go. I have made an occasional find here, though. Parking is pretty easy. They have a private lot in the front and in the back; I've never had trouble finding a spot.
