We were lucky enough to stumble upon Paris Foot Walks after a few searches on the internet. Our tour guide for the day was Steven. Steven was very knowledgeable about not only the history of all the attractions, but the politics and cultural significance of each landmark. The Paris Foot Walks tour gave us a chance to get a cursory glance at what Paris had to offer. We were able to spend our remaining days spending time revisiting those landmarks we liked best instead of wasting valuable travel time trying to figure out what was interesting and what needed to be skipped. The approximately 3-hour and 4-5 mile walking tour began at the Arc de Triomphe and ended at the Louvre. It did not seem liked we walked that far as the tour was appropriately broken up with stops for coffee and bathroom breaks. Our tour guide informed us of how much it money would cost and how much time was necessary for each of the landmarks we were interested in exploring further. Definitely recommended. I am hoping to see these tours pop up in other locations.

A walking tour is certainly a commitment, but our guide was quite thoughtful, stopping frequently when he sensed we were getting tired, recommending pleasant places to sit, rest, and talk to others in the group. This is probably not an activity for elderly individuals who have difficulty getting around, or for children who will need to be carried. I think you could do the tour fairly easily with a stroller. The walk is not difficult--but you do go some distance, and you have to cross streets and navigate sidewalks with other pedestrians. My wife and I both agreed that we would take a tour with Paris Foot Walks again. My next choice would be the Wine, Beer & Conversation tour, which just looks like a great evening out in Paris!

We knew we wanted to do many things, but we kind of felt overwhelmed by all the possibilities in Paris. On the train ride in from London, I found a suggestion for taking a nighttime tour in a car. My husband reached out to the company, but of course everything was booked. I went on Yelp and found City Wheels. There weren't any reviews, so that made a little nervous. However, the booking was easy and a timeslot was available for the same day. We scheduled the tour for 10 AM on a Monday. Unfortunately, the time slot ended up not being available, but Laurent called and actually was able to fit us in for a more suitable time later that evening. Laurent was quick to respond to phone calls. We had a cooking class scheduled, and it ended at 5pm. Laurent showed up around 5:15, and my husband and I were giddy with glee. The car was impeccable. It was clean, shiny, and awesome. Laurent spent 10 minutes or so explaining how he was going to start the tour and he used a map to point out certain points and places in Paris. Our two hour tour was absolutely amazing. Laurent told us lots of French history, he took us to all the main touristy sites, and he actually took our pictures for us, too. He even used his iPhone editing skills for the photos! The tour was so personable and fantastic and my husband and I could not be more pleased. It was the highlight of our European vacation. We've tried hop on/hop off tours in other cities, and this tour was 100% better. Laurent was cheerful, personal, honest, and a great driver. I'd recommend City Wheels to anyone!

Bundled in a blanket, under the lights of Paris, Abi drove us like the badass he is, and along the way gave us tips on where to eat, trivia about movie locations, and history you won't find in a tour book. My husband and I knew at some point that we were being treated to an experience that we wouldn't soon forget. Abi is cool dude who drives with a great respect for that beautiful car. First, compared to the other two, it was such a value- you will not leave hungry! Second, John-Paul was a fantastic guide! He's an American who moved to France to perfect his French, ended up marrying a French girl, and staying. He was full of interesting insights into his experiences with French culture from an American perspective. He also provided information about regions of France, different types of wines, and the influential art history of the neighborhood. He was easy to locate with his brochure at the start of the trip and was it was clear he put a lot of thought and planning into the tour. At the end, he provided a wonderful list of his favorite places in Paris including restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, and chocolate shops. He even offered us metro vouchers at the end in case we wanted to take the funicular up the mountain-side to see Sacre Coeur- the church of the sacred heart. The neighborhood has earned a bit of reputation for being "seedy" due to the street housing Moulin Rouge, which includes several sex shops. It's sort of unfortunate because while we took a quick stop down there to see the Moulin Rouge, the rest of the tour was like something out of a fairy tale. The hilly neighborhood is actually extremely charming, with a quaint residential vibe that we had been missing at many of our touristy destinations from earlier in the week. Not to mention the million dollar views down side streets, which due to the elevation of the neighborhood, provide views overlooking the rest of the city! If you are a lover of art history, top notch French cuisine, or just want to get a taste of the true local culture, take this tour. I promise you will not regret it!

Nicolas picked us from our hotel and so began the joy ride. He made sure he took us to the landmarks in Paris but along the way he revealed the secrets of the local nook and corner of the city. Every time we stopped by one of the many gorgeous remnants of Paris's history, Nicolas took candid pictures of us. Very quickly we realized how popular Nicholas is in Paris.
