When I first moved to London, it was the closest thing to a mall near me (and being American, I love my malls). It was dark, dirty, dingy. But, it was close, easy to get to via public transport and had all the main shops. It's recently been upgraded. There are nicer shops, better places to eat and it's no longer quite so dingy. If you drive, there are no parking fees. And it's a manageable place to shop - while Westfield can be quite overwhelming at times. If I had to choose between the hell of Oxford Street and Brent Cross for similar shops, Brent Cross would win every time. read more

Brent Cross has changed over the years, they have added sections, and its been given a huge overhaul. I thnk i have been frequenting BC since the mid 80s and it's so nice to see a number of the same stores in place still... although the cafes have changed. Its not Westfield, but it doesnt ask the prices or the parking fees... why the hell would you charge people for parking in your own mall? NOT in BC they dont. Brent Cross is a crap mall. All the store here are too expensive. You have a good John Lewis here and a Fenwicks (Sigh, I wish I could afford Fenwicks) and a lot expensive stores. This mall has no character but it stays open till 10 during the holidays. You can cross the overpass bridge from Borders and Lakeland to the main mall. There is also a toys or us nearby. This mall is an overpriced pedestrian nightmare even shopaholic, afraid of the cold Nan hates. Skip it. read more

I tend to associate Brent Cross Shopping Centre with my girlfriend, difficult to get to and all about shopping. Driving to within viewing distance isn't a problem, as it is just off the A406, there are a few entrances, but finding them can take a while. Catching the Tube and getting off at Brent Cross tube would be how to get there, well, you will have a 10 minute walk from there, walking through underpasses, over the A406 and then some. So it is not the prettiest of walks. It is a very, very busy shopping centre, and been around for ages. It was the answer to Oxford Street, an indoor shopping centre, with designer shops and all other high street retailers. Above all, it has huge parking facilities, with thousands of spaces, and it is free. During the Christmas season and when all the sales are on, the whole surrounding area is completely packed, a nightmare to get around. I worked in Hugo Boss for almost a year, and it really does get so packed inside. It has plenty of stores to choose from inside with well over 100 stores, and was the first shopping centre in the whole of the UK. read more

Brent Cross will always retain its place in history as the first big shopping centre in London. I can remember the excitement when it opened. It is the grand-daddy of Lakeside, Bluewater and Westfield Built at the confluence of the M1 and North Circular in north London, finding the entrance if you're driving can be challenging as the signposting isn't the best. It's also accessible by public transport - 15-20 minute walk from Brent Cross Tube station Today, it houses 120 shops but seems quite small when compared to some of the mega-complexes I mentioned above. The mix is of high street chain shops and a couple of department stores. There was a pretty sizeable queue of cars waiting to get into the car park when I last drove past but these days, there isn't enough originality for me to pop in here read more

Growing up in the area since I was born, this used to be THE place to go to if I needed anything, as well it's the nearest. However the last few years they've made over with mainly expensive shops now, and no longer the place I loved. They're losing "common" people like us. I'll stop going here, and go to Westfield instead where it has the perfect mixture of affordable and expensive stuff. read more

When I was still fresh off the plane in London, I was in search for some Americana comfort shopping that consists of wandering around a mall, eating something at a food court, texting while drinking a starbucks iced hazelnut soy latte, and making fun of the people that show their faces in public in sweat pants. This was a pre-Westfield time, so sources pointed to Brent Cross. It looks like any mall that could use a little TLC, people were saying it's one of the biggest in London but for US standards, it's pretty average. It's not the most convenient of commutes, and with some new and better alternatives, I think Brent Cross will be serving the locality more than the city shopper that's after a day of spending in one place. read more

As shopping centres go Brent Cross is a pretty good one, has a good lots of shops, most of them are of a decent size, and you can pretty much get want your looking for! There is a fair amount on offer here but Brent Cross is quite old by Shopping Centre standards so don't expect it to be as big as more modern equivalents. That said there is a good selection of stores and there does appear to be ample parking - only probably is that it's based the the start of the M1 and on one of the busiest junctions in the UK! When I was growing up, I was vaguely hearing how it was the ideal shopping area in London. I went there the other week, and it was amazing how run-down it seemed. Everything worked, but in a half-bothered 1980s grey way, and there was no joy to the art of shopping. And when there are so many other places to go to now, why would you come here? Brent Cross is a excellent place to shop and eat after you have shopped. They have all the main shops here plus some specialist shops, you can always find what you need here at many of these stores. Though most of these stores are middle/upmarket so beware if you're planning on doing frugal spending. Its easy to get to as many buses go to Brent Cross. read more

Has loads of stores all under one roof, and usually always soem sort of sales on, has good restaurants. and large car park. Very convienent to get to although sometimes traffic can be bad. They have all the main shops here and usually always have special offers, you can always find what you need here at many of teh stores. When they have their summer or winter sales it gets extremely busy but you will always find great bargains. Although the Next store here gets very busy and during their sales its very manic and after a few hours theres hardly anything left on the rails. Brent Cross was THE original shopping centre and the first to open in the UK in the 80s. To this day it is still a fantastic place to shop, with many many high street brands and shops, some of which have been there since it first opened. These include Marks and Spencers, Boots, WH Smiths, H&M, Top Shop, Zara, Gap, Clarks, Office and River Island. There are also two large deparment stores, John Lewis and Fenwicks. In terms of restaurants there are a wide range on their third floor, these include Pizza Hut, Wagamama, Tootsies and Burger King. There is also a McDonalds and for those looking for something healthier a juice bar. All in all Brent Cross is still a great place to shop and has gret transport links with dozens of buses that will take you there. On the downside Brent Cross underground station is not as near as one might think, it is advised that you take the bus from outside the station to take you there. read more

Visiting this shopping centre is akin to what I would imagine visiting a sado masochistic parlour, would be......you should expect to be humiliated, punished, lose your money and go home licking your wounds. Overreaction? Well consider the HUGE crowds and terrible traffic problems, the unexceptional stores (can find them in most High Streets) and why would you go to this shitty part of town when you can go to the gloriously extravagant Westfields or the always awesome West End? I went on a weekend a year or so ago. The North circular road is the grimest,ugly concrete, speed camera laden road in England, and North London, especially Finchley,Golders Green and Hendon are the arse end of London. I was stuck in traffic for 1 hour on this forsaken road. Than waiting for a parking space to emerge was like waiting to glimpse the Loch Ness monster. Inside the shopping centre was heaving (dont these people have anywhere better to go?)I was shoulder barged a couple of times by other shoppers thats how bad it was. The humiliation aspect kicked in, when we tried queing for the piza express buffett. Every food chain we went to there were massive lengthy queues and once we got to the front of the queue to be served, some hysterical lithuanian midget screamed at me that there were no margherita pizzas to be served, as she was still waiting for them to be cooked. Now this kind of sod off and die for asking me to do my job politely attitude may be all the rage in downtown Vilnius but I wasnt too impressed at being shouted at for asking for something off the menu. I than asked in quick succession if several other pizzas were available and was met with the same truculent response. We cut our losses and split. Later on after eating elsewhere I walked passed the same queue and observed a young Dizee Rascal wanabee upon being told he couldnt have his pizza calling the same Lithuanian a pu##y h#e b#i##h....... That probably wasn't quite the vernacular I would have used, but somehow It was apt to describe the whole of this shopping centre. read more

This place is hard to reach for those travelling from anywhere other than north London. There are plenty of parking spaces, and ok public transport to the centre, but there is nothing but residential surrounding this mall. From the outside, this shopping centre looks like any other. Then you step inside and realise that you really won't find anything special here. There is the regular high street stores ranging from budget to high end, and reasonable options on fast foods. As Yee Gan said in a previous review, in comparison to the likes of Bluewater and Westfield, Brent Cross is very much the poor cousin. There is nothing wrong with the place, it is simply that mall's have moved on to bigger and better things. read more

I've really hit the culture shock stage of my move to London and I was desperately in need of an American-style mall trip. Thank you, Brent Cross Shopping Centre. You may be spelled c-e-n-t-r-e instead of c-e-n-t-e-r and you may be full of Brits and mostly full of stores we don't have in the states, but you have Auntie Anne's pretzels and you look like any old American mall. I've been coming here since I was little. Over the years it has really changed. It's not as new and shiney as say Westfield but it can compete. Being in the north of London you can park here for free! There's a good selection of shops, department stores and eateries, pretty much everything you need for a day out of shopping. read more

It has all the main shops you need as well as food court which has restaurants and coffee shops as concession stands. got two big department stores which work well and its great. Still one of my favourite shopping malls! it may be small by todays standards but Brent Cross has everything you need for a fun days shopping. From John Lewis one end to Fenwick the other end, you have a huge Boots and Marks and Spencers and a Waitrose. There is also an excellent array of high quality clothes and shoe stores such as Karen Millen amongst the usual high street brands of monsoon and Top Shop.also check out the food and cafe area-Wagamamas is always a popular choice. the mall offers free parking and a good choice of buses in and out too. read more

Despite the new, mega-sized rival recently opened for business, Brent Cross still has the edge due to unlimited, FREE parking offered to its customers. You'll be hard pressed to find such thing anywhere in this day and age. Brent Cross is one of the oldest shopping centres in London. It was built in the seventies, but it is still in excellent state, offering a wide range of shops and services. All the usual high street suspect are here, making this a very convenient place to shop on those miserable wet winter days. At the weekends the crowds can get overwhelming, so the best time to come and shop here is during the week. It'll definitely feel a more civilized and stress-free experience. I never leave Brent Cross without visiting Carluccio's, situated in the Fenwick department store. Their Italian fare is excellent. Those dieting plans as well as resolutions to cut spending will be flying out of the window, once you find yourself there. :) read more

Poor Brent Cross. Back in the day I thought BC was rad, but this was before I discovered Oxford Street and every other shopping centre. The main pull was the massive glittery fountain in the centre but since they scrapped that it's really quite ordinary. A nice selection of high street stores and posh shoe shops but I always find I leave there empty handed and not finding anything I wanted. And also hungry, the food court is cack. There is an absurdly large Fenwicks though so if you're looking to have a retail binge on cutlery then you'll love it. It's definitely aimed for the higher income nouveau riche that occupy the nicer sides of Norf Weezy London. read more

It's got practically everything you could want in a shopping experience - all the popular fashion chains, large department stores like John Lewis and Fenwick, coffee shops, book shops, jewellery shops. They keep threatening to charge for parking, but so far so good, so you can easily spend hours and hours here if you like. read more

Brent Cross Shopping Centre has lots to offer everyone. There is a wide range of the usual high street shops such as John Lewis, WH Smith, Boots, Fenwicks,but very few independent stores. I find that because there is little competition from independent stores, prices seem to be quite high. The centre has disabled access so it is easy for wheel chairs and push chairs alike. It is easy to get to by bus, train or car. However parking is free and convenient. It's worth a trip out especially at Christmas time when the shops are decorated so beautifully. Brent Cross is a great place to visit for the sales but there can be queues to park. read more

Brent Cross Shopping Centre is located very close to Staples Corner, the beginning of the M1. It has loads of free parking and a bus station in the centre. As for the Tube, well, don't be fooled, Brent Cross Tube Station is at least 10 mins walk from the centre, but there's a bus which goes from outside the station. as for the shops, there is quite a range of both men's and women's fashion amongst the general everyday highstreet stores such as Smiths, Boots & HMVand not forgetting the phone shops! There is however, both a JOhn lewis at one end and a Fenwick at the other! Is worth a visit if you ever happen to experience that of the North Circular! read more

Brent Cross is a good shopping centre - it is very big with a wide range of shops and places to eat. Has something for everyone. I've only been a couple of times as I don't live particularly close but I think that it would be ideal for people who live within, say, 20 mins, but otherwise not really worth going. In the past it may have been more impressive but now, with the opening of Westfields, it doesn't seem so great. The place obviously looks quite run down in comparison and the choice of shops/restaurants isn't as good. Overall, I'd say this is a good place to go for people who live locally but, personally, I wouldn't need to go there again with the opening of Westfield. read more

I started going here in the late 1980s with my dad, because we did the weekly Waitrose shop here. When I was 17, I got a job here in one of the smaller retailers. The place looks a little drab and even austere, and outdated, both inside and out, and I guess it is just sentimentality that keeps me going back, that and the fact it's just a short ride on the 210 bus from my old home in Hampstead. There is a food hall upstairs with the usual suspects like Pizza Hut (McDonalds and Millie's Cookies are located near the Waitrose and Fenwicks stores) and the welcome additions of Yo Sushi, Wagamama and a bagel place. Queues can be horrendous though. There is nothing novel or exciting shop-wise; the mandatory HMV, JD Sports, WH Smith, Early Learning Centre etc, although they tried to posh it up a bit with shops like Rigby & Peller making an appearance over recent years. It's a day out and it's ok but it's nothing special. read more

Brent cross is one of the biggest shopping centres in london. It has everything. clothes shops, shoes shops, food stands, drink stands... Most imprtatnly though it has variety. Theres something in brent cross for everyone. With free car parking and a bus station right outside, it's not hard to get to and from there. read more
