Since then I have phoned her several times to try to 'settle up' with her. I have requested 'Consignment 101' basics: written acknowledgement and confirmation of: 1) what I consigned to her; 2) which of my pieces she has sold (if any) and how much she owes me per sold piece; and, 3) what she is still holding of mine (if anything). When she returned my calls, although not in a timely fashion, she said she would get back to me to resolve this matter but to date she has never provided any of this requested information to me. One of my phone calls was in January or early February; she said she would be getting back to me, but I never heard from her. Last week I texted her and when she phoned me in response, we set an agreed-upon time for her to ring me, but she has not called me. I have never received any payment from this shop owner for any of my consigned articles, if indeed any were sold, and I cannot determine whether any of my items remain unsold, and if so, where those are. I am puzzled and disappointed at my treatment by this merchant. I had previously bought things from this shop in both of its charming Oxford locations. CAVEAT EMPTOR. Or, more accurately in this particular case, CONSIGNOR BEWARE.

My husband I wandered into Sea Captain's Cottage to explore this two-story treasure chest. We enjoyed roaming from room to room between the two floors checking out the eclectic merchandise. Some items were antiques and other were inspired from the past. I'm also perpetually on the hunt for items related to Chesapeake Bay heritage and there was plenty of that at Sea Captain's Cottage. We spent quite a bit of time checking out this delightful store and enjoyed our experience.

It's true - don't ever judge a book by its cover! This building is very welcoming and cozy - it does contain A HUGE selection, ranging from vintage and retro dishware/glassware, toys, furniture, clothing, framed art, games, home decor, and other kitschy items. It is overwhelming in the sense that there is many to look at, but not to the point where it's messy or untidy. Everything was well laid-out and placed, and there was plenty of space to move in and out of little aisles. The gentleman at the front was very friendly and welcoming and allowed all his patrons to peruse with no hassle. There was plenty to see! We saw old Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, old Disney figurines, Fiestaware dishware, and even 8 mm projectors. I found a cute desk decor for teachers, so I had to get one! First of all, the Clay Bakers is a pottery-painting studio, not a bakery!…read more Clay Bakers is a cute little place in downtown Easton. It is a great activity to do with a friend, alone, or with kids. They have special events such as Kids/Teens Nights, Ladies Nights, and seminars for teaching things like pottery, glass, and others. If you are going just to paint pottery and not to a specific event, you can walk in anytime while they are open. It is set up so that there are a few interconnecting small rooms, which helps with the noise level. You choose the piece that you want to paint and someone will help you get set up. The cost is typically the cost of the piece + half of the cost of the piece as a service charge. The staff is very helpful and guide you through the process. The pieces get done by when they say they will and they package them for easy pick-up. The pieces are a little pricey but that's typical for these types of places.
