Nancys is literally the most disgusting place to order food or ice cream. The kids that work there put there dirty socks on the ice cream containers and sit around. Over price food as well your better off getting McDonald's or subway. I live in new buffalo full time so I've definitely have seen what goes on there. Damn fine chocolate milkshake, perfectly drinkable right away thru an amazing oversized straw (a small detail that made a huge difference). Tasty enough that we ordered it two nights in a row. We found the price to be quite reasonable, under $4 for a small milkshake that probably was 16 oz. Service was totally fine, fast and friendly despite being pretty busy both nights. Nope, didn't eat actual food here...just ice cream from what I assume is a local creamery called Hudsonville. The Caramel turtle cheesecake was to die for, the brownie batter was malty chocolate ice cream with chunks of brownie. Pass on the mint chocolate chip. They also have typical Michigan flavors like Blue Moon and Traverse City Chocolate Cherry. Just a little divey ice cream/fast food stand. Ordered 2 over priced, mediocre ice creams. Black cherry ice cream tasted artificial. But that wasn't the problem. My recently potty trained 3 year old needed to use the bathroom urgently. I happen to catch a man leave a side door "Employees Only." I ask, and he says it's a bathroom, yes. [We used it last year, in fact so I knew already....] I had a hunch and ask - yep, the dude also says HE IS THE OWNER. My son is dying at this point. I kindly explain we spent $$ at his store and we need the john for 2 minutes. I will escort and clean it up. He still - incredibly - REFUSES to let us use the lousy toilet. They spend more time playing like children behind the counters, screwing up guests orders, making inappropriate comments among themselves with young kids around and make no apologies for their actions. There are several other places to go in New Buffalo that don't mess up your orders and aren't run by people acting like children. There seems to be no leadership and there is no way to get in touch with the owner, Jim. When I asked who the owner was I was greeted with an attitude. Clearly they have had issues before and knew more complaints were coming. Jim, if you're reading this comment, start spending more time at your business, remove those talentless kids that don't care about your customers and or business and maybe your railings may actually go up. I like the ice cream here. I love the fact that you can order off of the window on the sidewalk. When I hit the beach, it's just a nice topoff to the day, to grab an ice cream here. I've had their food a few times. It's Ok, nothing to rave about but it was fine. I'm here mostly for the many flavors of ice cream they have. I've never had an issue with the service. It's a typical high school age employee group but they have always been fine with my family, friends and I. It's different. For a tiny little corner ice cream stand/food place this was great. Didn't try the food, but they had so many ice cream flavors to choose from! Got the triple peanut butter and coconut cream ice cream. Triple peanut butter was mediocre but the coconut cream was one of the best I have ever had. My wife and I took a brief trip to New Buffalo in the middle of the week based on a recommendation from some friends. Nancy's was right down the street from our hotel so we had to try it out. I saw the sign for Famous Strawberry Shakes and thought that that was probably just a gimmick because strawberry shakes aren't anything special. So, I had to try one and I am a believer-it was delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty and the strawberries had the right amount of tart and sweet. Also, the shake was creamy and there were plenty of delicious chunks of fruit. It had the perfect blend of milky and fruity. read more

The line got long after I ordered, but if you time it well, you can get your ice cream quickly. This place has the best strawberry milkshake I've ever had, so thick with chunks of strawberry that you can chew it and have to suck it up with one of those big fat straws. Haven't tried the actual food yet. Four of us went to Nancy's for a treat to cool down. The line was pretty long the whole weekend we were there so that made us want to try it out since people were willing to wait in line for that long. We definitely were not disappointed! Never be dismayed by three stars, ever. You've got to go in with an open mind and a forgiving stomach. Nancy's did not disappoint at all and it didn't have to hit any high notes either! We weren't feeling very hungry but decided to split a burger anyway. What we got was great service and prompt warm, warm food. The portions were just right and the value was spot on. 1st Strawberry Shakes are awesome, real strawberry chunks are key. 2nd the burgers are great they butter then toast their buns so they have a little crunch, yum. 3rd Dean is probably one of the nicest people to run a restaurant in New Buff. He said I ordered more food than other people so it would take longer. My hamburger and chicken salad were already on a tray waiting for hot dogs. I pointed it out to him and said I just need 3 hot dogs and the cook said I needed to take it easy and not get mad. When I got my subpar food, he said, "have a nice day," very sarcastic.
