My partner has an entrenched fear of doctors but had a medical emergency in 2022 and was taken by ambulance to stock island. After we got out of the ER we were told to follow up with one specialist for a broken leg that happened during the fall and a second neurologist for the problem that caused the fall to begin with. Nancy Kaplitz was the second specialist. She came in after hours on a Sunday to see us. She was so professional and reassuring that we got through the visit without my partner completely freaking out. Each time she needed to do something she asked permission first and explained what she was doing and why - that helped immensely with the fear of doctors issue. This is not a doctor that does five minute appointments. Each time we were with her for at least 30-40 minutes for the exam and another 30 minutes if she was doing treatment or tests. She didn't overbook or have one patient waiting while the other was being seen. We had her full attention the whole time. That experience was so good that when my partner had another similar issue this past month, we again called Nancy Kaplitz, who is now the only doctor my partner agrees to see. She came in on a holiday to see us even though she wasn't scheduled to have the office open that day. Again, we were so impressed with her care quality, thoroughness, and sensitivity. read more

My Experience with Dr. Kaplitz has been an extremely pleasant, informative experience and I am thankful that she is my neurologist. Her wealth of knowledge was obvious as she seamlessly stepped me through the exam. She is a tremendous listener and explained everything in in great detail. I am writing this review after an unfortunate experience with Dr. Kaplitz's office. My husband, Michael, and I recently moved back to Key West after being away for 4 years, living and working in NYC. My husband had a grand mal seizure on Saturday 1/28 after being seizure-free for 20 years. He is on seizure medications, and there were no provoking factors.We called Dr. Kaplitz's office right away and left several messages. (Dr. Kaplitz is one of only 2 Neurologists in the Florida Keys). Michael finally was able to get through to the office 3 days after his seizure. The office made no attempt to return his calls. Michael was told that they were going to make an appointment for him after they checked his insurance. Two days later they called Michael and told him that Dr. Kaplitz is no longer taking any new patients, since she is trying to limit her practice. I am a physician, have practiced medicine for more than 30 years, and am dumbfounde that this office would be so uncaring and unconcerned about a potential patient. Although Michael has a doctorate degree in nursing, he was still very scared. They recommended that Michael drive to Miami (over 3 1/2 hours away) to see a Neurologist. I don't know or have ever met Dr. Kaplitz, but know that if she had seen Michael in her office it would have only taken a few minutes of her precious time. All Michael would need is a quick neuro exam, basic labs, adjustment to his seizure medication (which, as a physician, I ended up doing since no one would help him), and to be scheduled for an EEG and MRI. I do not recommend this doc I had several horrible experiences. She could never remember what she said from one appointment to the next even after being reminded. She refused to believe that she had sent me to another doctor for blood work, and adamantly denied it until I provided her with the paperwork for proof. She tried several times to fit some kind of ailment into my diagnosis that didn't exist. During the pandemic I called to make an appointment, she set up a ridiculous virtual office visit, that took two weeks to get, it lasted all of 5 minutes she charged me for it, and then said I would need to make a face to face visit, so that she could take my BP and that visit would be in two more weeks. so actually she did nothing in the virtual visit other than take my money. I told her that I was dissatisfied and would like my money back, she refused to respond and never refunded the money. She totally wasted my time.
