I found this place based on a recommendation in a parents group... I should have checked the Yelp reviews first! It would have saved me some time. Called one day and a woman answered... she didn't have an openings that worked for my schedule and didn't have insight to others schedules so told me to call back. Called back and get an answering machine that says to call/text for appointments and provides 3 names, one of them Nanci who I assume is the owner? I texted... no response. This is the only place we'll go to get haircuts for my son and husband! They do the best job. They are SOOO good with kids! Love coming here. Also, for those with kids, there is a chalkboard table that can keep your kiddos occupied. They also have a lollipop tree and "prizes" for kids after their hair cuts. Prices are very reasonable. Parking is VERY tight. They can get VERY busy so I would make an appointment. read more

Won't be back now that Chuck is gone. Been going there 5+ years because Chuck was the first barber that during my first cut, took notes on the size blades that made my cut just perfect, so every time he looked back and knew exactly which three blades to pull out. That makes for a perfect and arguably faster - cut every time. So thankfully he just moved right around the corner to better digs, roomier and set up like a real barber shop, where you wait facing the barber chairs and they have working air conditioning. Seems Nancis is always having some appliance or air conditioning or heating crisis, one visit this winter the washing machine for towels was broken and for some reason all the customers had to hear about it. I will say Nanci's and Chuck's station was always pretty clean, especially his counter and floor. In any event, at this point i highly recommend you just go to Chuck at the South Braintree square one it's the same street parking and everything and they'll love to have you. read more

This used to be a dependable place to get a nice haircut. While Nanci's name was on the sign, it was all Lenny that ran the business. Between him leaving and the pandemic, an enormous gap opened leaving some very talented barbers in the lurch and customers frustrated. No walk-ins and by appointment only. Call the number and no answer with a message the mailbox is full. Dependable has been replaced and a search for some place new after 15 years! read more

Nanci has been cutting my hair for more than 12 years. Without a doubt the best hair cut I can get. Occasionally I'll be in a rush and go somewhere else, and I always regret it. Right from when I walked in the door I felt at ease at Nanci's barbershop. The waiting room was comfy with plenty of reading material and free lollipops on a wooden pole. Nanci cut my hair and the precision during the cut was perfect. She blended my style request with a little taste of her own and the final product was great. I've been going to Nanci's for the last 15+ years at least, and from what I've noticed, it's only been a slow and steady decline. Chuck was the only reason that I kept returning there as I've been seeing him for the past 8 years. Now that he's gone, I have absolutely no reason to set foot back in there. So I made a reservation in the morning for just a standard haircut and came in ten minutes early to the appointment. Every single barber took somebody new before seeing me, and kept saying oh somebody will be with you soon. After 30 minutes past my appointment time I left. I absolutely love this barber shop and have been coming for over 4 years now. I love the atmosphere, the employees, and the fun attitude they bring to work. Though I came to write a positive review I can not believe the negative reviews I have been seeing. Also very suspicious how every negative review mentions "Chuck" and references where he now works. Seems to me like maybe some yelp sabotage? While I have never had a haircut from Chuck,(I usually go to lenny) so I can not say anything good or bad about him. The worst hair cut in the world! Yesterday I asked Coco for a professional looking hair cut that was short in the sides and longer on the top. I laid back and closed my eyes. I was looking for a new barber after Peter and Paul retired. I was a bit put off by the recent negative reviews and I ended up going to a place near Nanci's. It turned out to be a bad haircut and I finally decided to give Nanci's a try. An unassuming woman cut my hair and we did not converse much till the end when we started talking about the weather. That is when she introduced herself as Nancy. I got a great hair cut and also was less expensive than that other place nearby. I guess I continue going to Nanci's place. read more

I was raised in Braintree and Nanci's Barbershop has been my barber shop since I can remember. It has a hometown feel that is genuinely part of the Braintree community. The barbers like to get to know you and make it a point to make you feel welcome. Nanci has done a fantastic job going on at least 10 years now. You can reserve a time or just walk in for appointments. However, if you want Nanci you should call in at least 5 days in advanced. She's worth the wait as she could charge a higher price for the quality of haircut. She has suggested great hair products and often gives me samples to try out different products. Lenny is great with kids and makes the hair cutting experience pleasurable. I have seen kids who were terrified of getting their hair cut leave with a huge smile and a lolli-pop from the "lolli-pop tree." When I was younger, I always got a tootsie roll pop after my haircut and Lenny would preform magic tricks while cutting my hair. He even pretends to shave some of the kids faces, especially if they see someone else get a shave while they are in the shop. I find the negative review about Chuck to be very comical. Chuck is best barber that I have ever been to. I have gone to MANY others in the past, and none of them can come close to the work of him. Chuck is the only one thus far who can fade my hair perfectly, followed by a perfect line up, and a perfect taper. Real regular guy, who keeps the mood light and always fits me in when I need a quick haircut. I have been seeing Chuck for around 2 years now, and I will never leave! I have gone here a few times it is hit or miss. I would make an appointment with one of the ladies they do a great job. The older man (Lenny maybe is his name) is losing his touch. He doesn't cut your hair even and as it grows out it becomes very noticeable. The first time I came here was because my bus dropped me off on the corner of this block and it's on my way home. I had a guy who I loved, best haircut I had in a while, I was so impressed, took his time and got it right. I came back a few weeks later, and another guy, older with a shaved head cut my hair, because the other guy was gone, it was so horrible I drove across town after to my friend who cuts hair as well (but far away and not convenient), to fix it. He has missed spots and the hair lines were uneven. I was never going to go back but I was walking by because it's on my walk home, and I saw the guy I liked, I got his name and it was Chuck, so I started only booking with him and a few of my friends now book him. If I didn't like this guy I'd never return, I believe this is family owned because it seems some of the people bring in kids and grandkids and they are loud, also they just order pizza and eat it on the floor. It's very unprofessional but I liked Chuck. I tried to book and appointment last week but it seems Chuck left. So I will not be going back anymore. read more

A good barer is hard to find. I have been going to Chuck for about 7 or 8 years. My wife and I recently moved, yet I still drive the extra distance to see chuck. Ugh ... Really bad haircut all around. I asked for a fade .. The entire side is one length .. No fade at all.. The barber asked me twice about my side burns I said keep them .. He shaved them off.. And the worst part is I already had a hard part showing from my prior barber .. I asked to keep the part .. The barber makes a new one 1" higher than the old one. I was so excited to come here and was extremly disappointed. I bought a groupon for a straight razor shave (something I've always wanted to try). Place was busy so I was even more pumped. The shave i guess went ok it seemed the razor was having a tough time pulling through my facial hair (i don't have a heavy beard) so I was giving the benefit of the doubt since it was a first, but I don't think it was sharp enough. THEN I went to pay. My groupon was for 15$ for a 30$ shave. I then tried to charge the tip bc I didn't have any cash. The guy was adamant about charging me thirty and "that's all I can do" i tried to explain i had already paid for the shave and just wanted to tip him ( i was going to tip him 15 just to be nice and I thought it was different). After a few minutes he said "fine whatever I'll charge you 15$ and that was it. As I was walking out someone kinda explained it to him that I was right. THEN I get to my car kinda aggravated with situation and give my face a good look (I didn't want to be a weirdo and check his work up by the mirror) and to my supprise I looked basially like I had a days worth of stubble in most spots and a nick under my nose. I was wowed. The place had to notice the smoothness or lack there of but even worse that two employees if not more noticed I had blood under my nose from a nick and were argueing about the freaking groupon. I will not be returing. I have to go home and shave with my Schick Quattro anyway. read more

Chuck is one of the best barbers I've met. I've spent so much time jumping from barbers to hair stylists (if there is even a difference) to get the right cut. And many would come close to what I want. But Chuck caters to the style you want and works with you. The thing that stuck with me the most is that usually after a nice cut the hair grows back funny. With Chuck - my hair grows and still look good. I recommend anyone to try Chuck's styling. He's bar none one of the best I've come across. And Nanci's barber is one of cleanest and friendliest places I've ever had my hair cut. I find some studios to be intimidating with the way they treat their customers. However Nanci's make you feel like you're in a friendly place. Anyone is willing to talk to you including some customers. It's cozy, it's clean and it's at the price you'd expect a hair cut to be.
