Another wonderful Persian restaurant discovered! My husband and I were looking for a place to eat before going to the AMC next door and I'm so happy we found this restaurant. At first glance, we knew we were in for a true authentic and great meal when we saw other Persians dining at the restaurant ;D Vibes: Namino shares a parking lot with other food establishments but on a Tuesday afternoon, we didn't have trouble finding a spot. The restaurant gives a mom and pop vibe, where they warmly welcomed us in. I loved that the lady gave us a bell to ring when we're ready to order. There were more than a handful of 4 person tables available inside. No outdoor seats. The guy who took our order and served our food was welcoming and our food came out within 10 minutes. Food: -Beef Koobideh Kabob ($15.95): skewer of suuuper flavorful beef served on a bed of saffron rice with a side salad and half a roasted tomato. I saw one of the reviews here that said to put sumac powder on the rice-- thank you for that! I asked for tzatziki sauce on the side and it paired well with the kabob. -Beef Kabob Sandwich ($11.95): my husband ordered this and he loved it as well. If we weren't in a hurry to catch a movie, I would've loved to try the baklava. Overall: A great authentic Persian restaurant located in La Jolla. You won't be disappointed! read more

TLDR; A small, no nonsense cafe serving absolutely mouth watering Persian dishes. Quaint ambience and old school city service (you just gotta flag people down) but the food is highly recommended. Namino, located in the holiday court lot (next to the Whole Foods plaza) is a small space looking like an east coast diner. They have a small menu and don't mind if you help yourself to drinks and a seat. The owner literally just told me to shout out my order when I was ready. No nonsense, quick, and it worked well. No complaints there. Service 9/10 Fesenjoon: That day's special. This dish is phenomenal and a hefty portion. The stew itself was not shy at all about flavor; an appreciable sweetness and tart flavor coming from pomegranate, an earthy blend of spices (for sure can taste bag and cinnamon as well as toasted walnuts. I'm sure there's more) and the chicken is clearly well seasoned. The stew itself is not to thin or thick, resembling a texture slightly thicker than a Japanese style curry. The specials are served with a side salad and saffron rice. The salad is dressed with a yogurt based dressing. Light and refreshing. Nothing surprising. The saffron rice is lightly seasoned with saffron, mostly white rice. The big kicker here is tableside condiments include sumac, and that is a huge bonus. Pour a liberal amount in your rice and thank me later. Gotta love a Persian restaurant with sumac! Food 9/10. The tea served is a spiced black I believe. May be an acquired tasted for those used to English breakfast. I'll definitely be back. Namino is great for a quick lunch and the food is fantastic. Service was excellent. Very friendly and welcoming! Offered me free tea while i waited for my to-go meal. Small dining area, mostly 2 and 4 seat tables, depending on time of day, could probably fit a medium sized group. Place is sorta hidden in a strip mall near UCSD. Parking lot has plenty of parking but spots are super tight. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. Soltani Plate was a little pricey (+$30) for rice and 2 kabobs. Cozy, casual spot to treat yourself to some high quality kabob and Persian food. I tried the soltani as well as their tahchin, and both were deliciuos. There was one person working and handling everything, and he was very kind and freindly, so nothing to complain about the service. The restaurant itself is not fancy or particulary nice, but it really is all about the food, so come with the right expectations. The prices are also very affordable. I came across their ad in Yahoo. I was driving to Harbor Freight, so I stopped here to see what the great reviews were raving about. There were still auto mechanics working on Sunday, at Phan's Auto Repair. Their neighbors seemed really busy too, in this industrial complex area. I chose what the cook told me was the most popular entree, the grilled round beef. Here's the picture in the window. He said "here taste it, if you don't like it, you don't pay". The meant tasted gamey, and I asked if there was lamb in it. He said no lamb. I like gamey meat, tho. Lamb is my favorite meat. The salad dressing was delicious. It was like a thousand island with mint in it. Not enough salad in that small compartment! Meat was flavorful, tho I kept having to put it in the microwave to heat it up. I think dried out the meat a bit. I would give my experience 5 stars, but I didn't get enough food, and was still hungry. They only give you what they could fit in a compartment takeout box, as pictured. So no leftovers, but doesn't cost $18.95 either. $12.99 portion for 1 kabab, not two. I bet the food truck does good business during the weekdays, when the industrial park is bustling with workers. I came on a Sunday. read more

Tucked in the west corner of Miramar off a side road is the small food trailer Namino, a hidden gem! I arrived just before close on a Saturday so some items were unavailable, but the owner Ali suggested the Ground Beef Kabob Wrap and gave us a beef and lentil stew (for free!) while we waited. The Kabob wrap was extremely flavorful, with well spiced beef kabobs and a delicious creamy garlic sauce perfectly complimented by a refreshing salad, pickles, and tomato wedges that cut through the richness. The bread was thin and had the right texture to give each bite a satisfying chew. The employees were both very friendly and made the experience a memorable one, including giving my friends and I a first-time discount! I'll definitely be coming back to Namino. read more

The food might be good, but the service is absolutely unacceptable. It was my first time here, and when I asked a couple of basic questions, the woman at the counter started yelling at me to hurry up and order. When I went to pay, the total was higher than what was listed on the menu. I politely asked about the difference, and instead of giving a clear explanation, she raised her voice at me again. Having migrated from a food court at Atlas market in Poway, to a food truck and then to the current La Jolla location, this is the place to go for authentic Iranian food. The ingredients are of high quality and the dishes are done to perfection. Some of more exotic dishes are only advertised as a weekday special. Tah-cheen is a prime example. Yumm! The koobideh ground beef kabob was the most tasty of the 3 kabobs we ordered. The shish kabob with beef was good, but seemed a bit dry. The salmon was tender, fresh, and tasty. The menu did not mention that the kabobs come with salad and rice. I ordered the shish kabob because it had skewered vegetables along with the the meat. The vegetables were chunks of onion and green pepper and a bit of tomato. We also ordered the barberry rice, thinking that we'd want more that just a skewer of meat for dinner. The barberries are very tart! Next time I'll get the regular rice and not pay $3 more for the barberry rice. After I finished my meal I asked if they had tzatziki sauce. The cook gave me a sample saying their sauce was better than tzatziki. It was similar, with yogurt, cucumber, and some spices. Be sure to ask for sauce with your meal! Wow!! This spot won me over - it's my new fave hidden gem. The food was amazing. So juicy and flavorful. The owner was so nice and welcoming! I will say it was a little slow but everything was made fresh so I didn't mind the wait at all. It was actually entertaining to watch him grill the skewers.
