We were seated downstairs on a small patio , there is also seating upstairs on the main floor. We were sitting next to an olive tree , with some bees. Menu is on a chalk board, and lots of offerings. One tuning that was fabulous, was Brie and jam, warmed , served with bread. We also had the salad, which was top notch , especially in France. Can't go wrong here Drinks came pretty quick , and we ordered a few bites.

As one does in Saint Emilion, we began with some of the wine. They had a great selection within a sorts of budgets, and thankfully many of them were available by the glass and not just by the bottle. For the main meal, we had the baked Camembert and my husband had the Magret. Both were amazing! The Camembert was so flavorful that we dipped everything we could into it. The noise level at the restaurant was very reasonable and we were able to enjoy conversation freely. We were also in and out within an hour, so we had plenty of time to explore the rest of Saint Emilion. Would love to try more wines here next time.

This place was no different. Small restaurant in the the small village of Saint Emilion outside of Bordeaux. Adorable. Great view. Delicious cheese Delicious wine. Friendly service even though we asked for something they don't serve during lunch. So why remove a star this time. I have to differentiate these wonderful places and my only complaint is you have a menu on the street but aren't serving everything on the menu at that time. It's odd. The menu on the street advertised a plate of farmed cheese but that was only a dinner option and we were there during lunch. Why advertise it then? Anyway, be forewarned and remember the current "carte" is what they give you at the table-not what they advertise at the street. Nevertheless, they did have a charcuterie board and they gave it to us with only cheese, and they offered it-we didn't even ask. You know what? 5 stars. I changed it before posting. I don't care if the rest of my review no longer makes sense. There's no reason to take a star away. Great cheese, great wine, great views, friendly service that went out of their way to accommodate Americans who wanted something not on the menu. 5 stars it is.

I got the escargots to start and they were perfection. it was fun to take them out of the shells myself - it felt like a true French experience! they were perfectly buttery & garlicky without being heavy. the lamb was absolutely incredible too - my mom and I both got it and didn't regret doing a double order once we saw how amazing it was. while it was a bit pricey, it was worth it for the quality & quantity - we were sadly too full for dessert!

It's a cool restaurant with nice decor, but there were a lot of tourists (including us). I think that maybe only 1-2 tables were speaking French. We ordered: -escargot appetizer: 12 snails for about 24 euros. These were definitely very tasty, and one of the better snails that I've had. Came with a pesto-ey sauce. Snails were juicy -duck breast main with fois grois. The duck breast was delicious, but was very rare (the meat was red). I did confirm with the waiter that it was meant to be served this way. He said that it was, but I would've liked it cooked a bit more (and I'm a person who usually orders steak on the rare side). The fois grois was only okay... didn't taste as nice as the times that I've had it in Paris or even in the US. -"grande cafe" dessert, which was essentially coffee with a bunch of pastries including creme brulee. First of all, I think that this is the best value as it cost the same price as the creme brulee option, but came with a creme brulee which was almost as big, plus a bunch more things. So I would recommend this. -wine was okay. I did expect a bit better though for 14 euros a glass So in summary, the food was delicious, but I think it was a tad overpriced (probably because it is catered for tourists)

I am in awe by the audacity of anyone leaving this hotel less than 5 stars. It is amazing and…read moreworth every penny. Let me start with the staff, because they deserve a lot of praise. I believe I emailed the hotel at least two dozen times with various questions about the spa, the restaurant, bike rentals, airport transportation and more, and every time their responses were prompt and helpful, including getting us a table at the restaurant even though their reservation system indicated they were booked. At the hotel, the front desk, bar, and restaurant staff were wonderful - friendly and very helpful. It helps, by the way, if you make even a modicum of effort to speak french - say Bonjour or Bonsoir (good day or good evening), say s'il vous plait (please), and say merci (thank you). In that way, you don't come off like an arrogant tourist. The hotel itself, as you can probably tell from the photos, is beautiful and no expense is spared for your comfort. The rooms are large and welcoming. The beds and very comfortable and the bathrooms and showers are great. We had a beautiful patio overlooking the vineyards. The back of the hotel has outside tables overlooking a beautiful courtyard as well as some lounge chairs to relax in. Pool looked good, but we didn't use it. Location is great. It's about 3-3.5 km from the village using a lesser used road/bike path behind the hotel (as opposed to the main road which might be a bit too dangerous). I would call it an easy bike ride, but its a hilly area and it's a bit strenuous to get there. Much easier on the way back. There are taxis, if biking isn't your thing. Melissa used the spa but unfortunately, I waited too long to reserve a treatment and wasn't able to go myself. But during her spa treatment, I had a nice time at the bar chatting with the bartender about French whiskeys and trying a few myself. Finally, our meal was absolutely superb. Besides a cheese plate (wonderful), some wine (from Saint Emilion, of course, and delicious) and a tray of small appetizers from the kitchen, I got the John Dory confit, which is a meaty white fish. It was excellent. One of my favorite meals in our 9 days in Bordeaux. This hotel spoiled me for all hotels in the future. I don't know why we would ever travel anywhere ever again but to Saint Emilion just to stay at this hotel.
