I'm very satisfied with how my nails look and I love that they offer the option to simply get polish on instead of the full-blown manicure/pedicure (for which I am too impatient). It's certainly not the place to go for a 'spa experience' but I will probably return for the very functional execution of nail color (at a very friendly price).

First there was an old Chinese man who was shaping my nails, his own hands loved like if he would repair cars or work on the fields, not clean and not taken care of at all, he also treated my nails as if he would be repairing cars, but really not care about what he was doing, he was not at all concentrated speaking all the time with his Chinese colleagues and the result was horrible, he just totally spoiled my nails. The lady who put on the polish was at least more concentrated on her job, but not really skillful. The result is so bad, that I decided to take it all off and do it myself.

The employee indicated that I did not need a new set, that a new layer could be put on my (so called) own nail. What happened next was a 'fill up'. Nothing more, nothing less. Within half an hour I was outside again. Unfortunately I was 75 euros lighter instead of 42 euros. I could pay for what I had booked instead of what I had received. It is outrageous how no conversation is possible (both in the salon and afterwards on Facebook). There is no other way of communication. What a bad service. In the end, after much nagging, I was refunded 7.50 paltry euros when it should have been 33. Ridiculous. Now 1 week later, there are already corners out of my nails, something that happens when there is too much filling (instead of new set). This again indicates that it is NOT a new set and I still have to get the remaining € 25.50 back!

Most of the businesses seemed *medical* and very high-end with fees to underscore their specialness. I kept looking online and found Crystal Nails. Best thing is that you can walk-in, which I did, and I was told to come back in 30 minutes. When I returned, they took me fairly quickly. The pedicure was heaven, and the person doing the job was great. I then had a manicure, which was also excellent. If you find yourself in Amsterdam needing a nail salon, I highly recommend Crystal Nails. You should know in advance that they only take cash, and no credit/debit cards.

But in all seriousness, is pretty much a local hole in the wall place. I guess if you've never been to an actual professional salon, some people would think its a decent basic nail place.. Not even decent.. well for one, I am a professional nail tech myself. I gave the place the benefit of the doubt and gave it a try on a whim. I've been traveling for two weeks and needed mainly my foot scrubbed and massaged. There was also a huge language barrier and all I asked for was the pedicure. Which as advertised €20. I also had gel polish on from a prior treatment. (Was an extra €5 to remove.. ok sure.) They had no idea how to take it off except to scrape and file the gel off my nails down thin to where it was hurting and still is. The nail wasn't even buffed. It's rough as you'll see.. the cuticles not trimmed.. but honestly I was scared for her to even cut me so whatever. The skin around my nail beds is sensitive from so much filing, they trimmed my toe nails down very short to the quick, uneven and jagged.. I couldn't even complain. They didn't understand. So much happened and it was almost comical but traumatizing.. I remained calm and tried telling her I didn't need anymore servicing, ended up paying €31 instead of €20. PROS: None honestly.. By the end of my service, one lady there who is Thai did speak English.. (too late for me) CONS: It is an EXTRA €2 for Polish, no base or top coat either (Not included in pedi service) EXTRA €4 for a 5 minute Massage (also not included in the €20 service) €8 for 10 minute foot massage. And no gel/shellac options either. No actual pedicure chairs with tub, just a plastic cleaning bucket they bought, wrapped with plastic and filled with a little warm sink water.. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY unless your a minimalist of such things and just don't care about your toes nails.

Riwa was my technician and she was wonderful. She took ample care in every step of the process and did a beautiful job. I am only giving 4 stars because they definitely up the prices due to it being convenient and in the airport. But, I was happy with the service and my feet were soft, relaxed, and pretty for my 9 hour flight across the pond.
