This is Uppsala's worst kept secret. Speaking to the chef and owner I found out that the place opened about ten months ago. The guy has previously worked as a chef at an Indian restaurant in London. So what about the place then you might ask? Well, it is fairly run down (the guy only rents the place), but down to earth and exuding quality through genuine love. The two guys who work there treat the little house next to the railway like their home. The food is cooked as if I was their house guest. You feel like you want to help, to put down a new floor, chat, and be friends forever. It's the kind of place I would call home. And the food. Well, needless to say, it is delicious. A bubble which seems to exist outside of our polished society. So much so that you fear it might burst any second. By god I hope it won't. Some have described it as the best Indian place outside of London. I never had Indian in London, but I have lived in Nairobi with its sizable Indian population for a few years and this place is as good as (or better than) any upmarket Indian place in Nairobi. The food is cooked two meters away from you, allowing you to follow every step of the process. From the spices to the traditional naan oven. I was told to prepare for a wait during weekends, but on the weekday when I visited it was calm enough for you to eat there in one of the 7 or 8 simple bar seats. While I waited for my takeout I was served bread and chutney. The prices are decent and below the now second best (with a hefty margin) Indian restaurant in Uppsala (Indian Kitchen).
