Essentially, a solid place to shop if you live in Vienna and often has some good bargains . Service is generally efficient and courteous enough (especially for Vienna).

They also offer the lowest prices I can find so far on gluten-free products including pasta, pizza shells, bread, and snacks. They are much cheaper than Reformhaus or Billa which carry the exact same brand (Schaer) and are located conveniently all over the city. I frequently shop at the ones in the 3. District on Landstrasse, and can also vouch for the ones at Reumannplatz or on Mariahilferstrasse. Not every dm offers food products though, so maybe call ahead in your neighborhood.

I'm not an addict, I can stop anytime, I swear... If you're visiting from the US, these items should be on your shopping list: *Labello lip balm - WAY better than Chapstick. There's one place in CHI that stocks these, and I have to pay $6-7/ea vs EUR $2 *Kneipp bath salts - $20+ per jar at home, EUR$6 or less here! *Nivea cream in the blue tins. Not the same as the stuff for sale in the US! There's only one place in the States that imports the European formula and it's more than double the price. I'm sure if you live here and have access to this stuff all of the time, this is probably a 3-star place. But I saved a ton of money on some of my favorite things, so 4 stars from me!

We finally have a DM on Neubaugasse! It's big, clean, and new, and the people working there are…read morefriendly. When my (81 year old) grandmother was visiting from the U.S. and visited this DM, the people were nice to her and very accommodating, even though she speaks NO German. (When I arrived I helped out a bit, but they were getting by okay - one of the ladies working there spoke a bit of English.) My point being, all too many business in Vienna are downright hostile towards tourists who don't speak German, which happens to be a lot of people in Vienna on any given day! (For the record, my grandmother didn't expect anyone to speak English anywhere she went - that's why I almost always accompanied her, to act as a "translator" (+tour guide) as it were.) Back to this DM, though: it's pretty nice, in a great location, and I just can't stress enough how clean it is, particularly compared to some others. It also seems bigger than most of the others (that also don't have a salon inside) - it's not cramped, etc, and the products are usually well stocked, with many on sale. I approve!
