Looking for a decent place to wash and dry your clothes in Copenhagen so that you don't have to overpack to survive a 2 week trip in Europe? Then Montvask is pretty much all you need. It's a bare-bones basic self-service Laundromat, replete with old machines and dim lighting. Just a note that the means of paying for a load of wash might be a little unfamiliar to the average US visitor. Instead of putting your coins in the individual washer or dryer, you find the open machine first, take note of its number, and go to a central payment station to put in your coins. There is a placard on one of the walls that has instructions in English. Otherwise, pretty much everything is in Danish, and good luck. There are two sizes of washer, 7 kg and 13 kg. The former is fine for 1 or maybe 2 loads, the latter for 2-3. The dryers can probably handle at least 2 or 3 loads at once. All I needed was to do a small load to get me through one more week of travel, and I brought my own travel packets of detergent. So all told, I probably spent about $7 USD. Also, many of the washer settings include a spin cycle, so you don't necessarily need to use one of the centrifuge machines after. The nice thing is, there are lots of cafes, coffee houses, and whatnot in the immediate area--including an indoor food hall across the street--so there's no want of better locations to kill time and wait for your laundry to finish. read more
