So I quickly learned that metro is the way to go - this station was like a 5 minute walk outside the hotel and I was easily able to purchase one-way tickets for anywhere I wanted to go. I found staff helpful when asked questions (only once) or if we needed to purchase from them (again once) and they have clean and on-time trains. Two or three exits make it easier to come out where you need to be.

Anyway, this station is pretty much underneath the d'Orsay Museum, so getting off here will drop you right out the front of the museum, which is pretty cool. Situated right below the Musee D'Orsay, this is the RER line that you take along the Seine but also to the Palace of Versailles. Before you think you can sneak on with a zone 1-3 pass, realize that you have to present your ticket at the other end as well. If you have an incorrect ticket, then you won't be able to exit. They start moving at about 5AM but the palace is really open at 9. Take that into account. If you're going to the Palace from this station it will be about 30-45 min before you get to the other end. There is a train attendant here to help you with tickets. Not all stations have one! Easy to access and allows you to get to all the main Paris attractions.

Our boarding passes were scanned and checked twice on our way to security, once before emigration, again at security, at the gate and then again just before entering the plane... a total of 6 checks while normally it's only 2 or three times at other airports like Heathrow and Tokyo. The queues for everything were very long, especially the emigration queue that we barely made it to our flight. Everything is very slow and inefficient. In terms of shopping and food, there is not much and prices for food are expensive. €1.20 for an apply is a bit much. They have a coffee chain called Paul's which is similar to something like Starbucks, but otherwise there is not much in terms of actual restaurants. There is a PS4 gaming area, Arcade and a media room with a bunch of tablets near the gates to kill time, which I haven't seen at any other airport, which was probably the only good thing I found about Orly. Wifi is free, but you need to sign up with an email address. There are plenty of taxi scammers outside right beside the taxi rank, so be careful or better yet, use Uber. It costs about €45-50 to get to Paris, but the public transport from Orly is very limited otherwise.

We were able to book the same day, which was super convenient. There was Wi-Fi on board, though my phone had trouble connecting. The menu and info are all available through the app or by scanning the QR code at your table. I liked that each party had their own little section, and they had acrylic organizers to keep your drinks from sliding around. The six-course tasting menu was delicious. They start you off with bread--and they keep refilling it. Our courses were: Salmon tartare with passionfruit A hazelnut perfect egg with artichoke velouté Seared sea bass with asparagus, broad beans, peas, and citrus beurre blanc Guinea fowl stuffed with tarragon, sweet potato mousseline, vitelotte chips, and jus Saint-Nectaire cheese Strawberry pistachio finger with raspberry gel We also did the wine pairing, which ended up being a great deal for drinks One highlight of the evening was a 15-minute stop at the Eiffel Tower just as the sun was setting. It was the perfect chance to snap some photos and stretch our legs. Just a heads-up: it's not a narrated tour. They don't announce landmarks as you pass them, so if you're interested in sightseeing, follow the route map on your phone. If you're just in it for the ride and the food, that's a different story. The panoramic windows offer great views, but you'll mostly see the side you're seated on--so you might have to be friendly with your neighbors if you want photos from the other side. Overall, it was a great way to enjoy dinner and see some of Paris at the same time.

What's the best way to see paris for $2? On a bike!…read more One of my Paris highlights were this bikes! Though they may look clunky and hideous, they are great way to get you anywhere. After a couple days of walking everywhere my legs were dying. As much as I wanted to see everything paris had to offer my legs were telling me NO! Good thing we decided to try these bikes out because they saved our legs and took us to places faster than our two feet ever would. The website makes renting these bikes simple enough. You register online and pay with card and create a PIN. An email is sent to you with user numbers, that you'll need to enter in the kiosk to get a bike and don't forget your pin. As long as you return the bike to a station within 30 minutes you're guaranteed a $2 paris excursion all on two wheels. Most of the station are available on most popular areas and around the corners in big intersections. You can always rent the bike from the kiosk if you don't have time to register online. When you return your bike make sure to see a green light appear on your stand. If not, you can go to the main kiosk and troubleshoot from there. My light went orange in one instance because I shoved it in the wrong angle and the kiosk released it, so I could retry sliding it in. It was fun biking around like a local because even the locals use them. It was super scary biking on crowded roads with cars, but compared to America, french drivers are totally aware of their surroundings. The insurance you have with these bikes are they are heavy and big enough to keep you stable and withstand a lot of beatings. The fenders on the bike also come in handy for those spontaneous mother nature drizzles.

All I had to do was enter in my account number, which was sent to me in my confirmation email, enter the PIN number I created online and then select the bike number I was going to use. Done! Most of the bikes are in good shape with quick release seat, bike light, bike lock etc but a few needed a quick tune-up. If you find yourself returning your bike to a full station, you can enter your PIN number into the machine and you get 15 minutes to find another nearby station. What is amazing is that there are over 20,000 "community" Velib bikes across 1,500 different stations that are located all over Paris! There is even a smartphone app that you can use to find out where the closest Velib station is at so you can return the bike and which station has available bikes to use. It was a great way for us to see Paris from a different perspective. Most of my friends that saw our Paris pictures said, "Wow, that's so cool that you rode bikes in Paris."
