Despite being a Saturday afternoon, the train was standing room only. The signage at Metro Rosemont was easy to follow, maybe even easier than Washington, DC and New York City. The metro is a great and affordable way to move around the city. Also, I imagine it is really great to take the metro during the cold, winter months since it felt a bit warm in April. I recommend that you take the metro when visiting Montreal.

The largest open-air market in North America has been around since 1933. At this heaven on earth for any foodie, you'll find spice and olive shops, butchers, artisanal sausage makers, fish and cheese mongers, bakers, restaurants and cafés, and, of course, fresh produce from local providers. Little Italy is just a couple of blocks west of the Jean-Talon Market. The Italian community has been calling La piccola Italia home since 1900. You can walk down some of its streets, and enjoy the scenery of shops and cafés. In the summertime, there are quite a few festivals happening here that relate to food, fashion, Vespas, and, yes, Italian cars, from vintage Fiat 500s to the latest Lamborghini. So, this metro station is very popular and very visited by locals and tourists.

Unlike NYC subway stations, Montréal's are ALL staffed and you have the option of self-paying at the kiosk or paying with the ticket person. Now I truly know- how New Yorkers feel about tourists. But this is what sets Montréal from NYC apart every time for me: not one single person rushed us. No one was huffing and puffing and talking under their breath. Much less, the person at the ticket booth, wasn't cut and dry and went the extra mile to even circle where to hop off from the Sherbrooke Line. Merci! We eventually bought 2 Round-Trip Métro cards for $12. The chip in the card allows you to swipe on their Turnstile scanner and you can load and reload funds in it as you go. I was highly amazed at how clean Montréal's Métro system is maintained with super wide platforms at that! But I was more impressed with Montréal's outrageously quiet rail. Freaking amazing. Montréal never ceases to amaze me!

There are several exits that lead to UQAM (University), library, bus terminus or streets. I strongly suggest to wash your hands and your phone after walking through there. There could be times that the escalator doesn't work which could be tough for people who can't walk up or down the stairs. It's usually clean in terms of not much litter on the ground. There are janitors always around. As well, this station doesn't smell unless it's the elevators to the ground exit. It could smell like marijuana or urine. A plus is it one of the stations that starts the earliest and go sober the latest. It's great of you don't want to take a taxi or Uber . You will see homeless people inside asking for money but they aren't disruptive. They also may be sleeping, drinking or smoking.

We got into a fight and all he had to say was "I'm trying my best". Well here are some bullet points why taxi coop is a terrible service. *the dispatchers (especially after 5pm) are rude. They will giggle and hang up on you. I've been left stranded at IKEA once, I tried to call back and confirm if a car was coming but the girl hung up on me. *generally the drivers are slow and don't know what's going on. Some are amazing but most aren't. Some will charge more. I had one driver round up from 20.35 to 21.00, he flicked the meter off so I couldn't see it. Others have double charged my bank card and I never got a resolve. *they drive like maniacs or like old ladies. Its either a rollercoaster ride or you are very late for work. Somehow both scenario's will make you car sick. *they can never read the addresses right. Its common to see a car waiting a block away from where you need to be picked up. These are just some of the experiences I've had with them. There are good days and bad days making taxi coops service inconsistent. Lately it has been less positive so I will delete their number and bring my 100$ a week somewhere that will treat me better.
