I felt okay after dropping my dog off, the kennels looked nice, the property was well taken care of and the staff was friendly enough. I asked the best way to get updates and if picture updates were able to be done. I was told to text their number they had previously contacted me with as long as it's before 9 pm. I texted the number the first afternoon after I dropped my dog off and didn't receive a response until the following day. I again requested picture updates which I was told they would send some, however I never received any during my dogs week long stay. My dog also came home with multiple scabs on all 4 legs and hot spots on his paws and between his back legs. I have boarded my dog at multiple kennels/doggy daycare and he has not come home with these type of scabs and hot spots before which I know can be from stress. We've been using Mystic Acres for about 9 years now & couldn't be more happy with the service they provide. The scheduling process is easy (online or by phone), they are quick to get back with you, the facility is ultimately clean, pens have indoor/outdoor access, offer other services while your pet stays, and the facility is located on the property of their residence. I understand those are all things a person "expects" when dropping your pet off, but what I think also separates this place from the others is the peaceful country setting, the professional/kind/caring owners (never have seen anyone working there other than Jay/Stacey (owners) (occasionally their children when they lived there)), and the fact that once we start getting close to Springhill to drop off, our dog starts to get SUPER excited to go back to Mystic Acres! My first time there and my dogs were very well taken care of. They appreciated the indoor /outdoor run. I think the owners treat the dogs like family because my dogs were happy to see me but not in a huge hurry to leave. ( just bring bedding.) read more

My dog Andy could barely walk when I picked him up. The male owner made a joke about poor old Andy as he limped to the car. Andy's back legs and hips were fine the day I dropped him off and now he may end up losing his life. It looks like a nice place but there is something creepy and evil about it. I researched every site in the metro for boarding our baby Layla, and hands down, all paled in comparison to Mystic Acres! Extremely great prices too for all services. This was Layla's first boarding, she's four. The feedback I received from Stacey, co-owner, was so comforting to hear, especially when at the time I was 2,000 miles away. My dogs have tried most of the kennels in southern Johnson County. I dread leaving them because they get kennel cough easily (they are 3 English Bulldogs) and seem to pick it up, despite being vaccinated. I think another factor with many of the fancy kennels in town is that there is no access to fresh air, or just hosed down AstroTurf if they do have an outdoor yard. I'm no dog expert but that seems like it would harbor a lot of germs. We tried leaving our dogs at home but 4 times a day isn't enough--they get bored and chew on furniture. Anyway, I was referred to Mystic Acres by a friend. They are located in an idyllic country setting and the kennel is spotless. We had to be out of town for a week so it was a trial by fire sort of situation. Upon walking in, Stacy, the owner wasn't phased when my 85 pound male jumped all over her--while I apologized for his behavior, she put me right at ease. I could tell she was a "dog person" (which I guess you would be if you own a dog kennel!) but she didn't make me feel bad about having such a Motley Crue of 3 crazy, pulling dogs. Instead, she helped me get them settled in one by one. Whew! I called several times while we were out of town--she always answered my calls and gave me updates on my "boys" and mama. We let her know when our flight would be in and you can pick up as late as 8pm on weekdays. My dogs acted happy and normal (tired) when they got home. Before, they have acted strange--almost shell shocked after coming home from a kennel. Which is so heartbreaking because they can't talk to tell you what happened. They also are showing no signs of drippy nose or any illness! This means I won't be dropping money on a dang vet bill for 3 dogs. I really can't tell you what a relief it is to find a place we can trust with our dogs, that are really like family members to us. I want to thank them for taking such good care of my "fur kids". I've boarded my 13 year old dog at Mystic Acres 1-2 times a year for the past 10 years. I drive 25 minutes from where I live in northwest JoCo because they are worth the drive. We've always had a great experience with them. The couple that runs the kennel are friendly and love the dogs. I feel that my dog is well taken care of and happy there. They are flexible with drop off and pick up times. And the price is good too! read more

This was the first time we've ever had to board our dogs and we had a few friends recommend Mystic Acres. Once we got there, we realized our dogs were in such good hands. It's out in the country and there was so much room for our dogs to run. We boarded them for 5 days, and when I went to pick them up they were excited to see me but also ran back up to the owner haha (so I knew they were definitely taken good care of). It's a bit of a drive but completely worth it knowing our pups were in great hands while we were gone. We will definitely be using them again! read more

over a year ago i boarded my two dogs from friday afternoon to sunday afternoon. a 4 year old and a 1 year old. i asked for them to be boarded together. brought their beds(as the 4 year old had a hip problem). also brought their food, meds, just like home. when i arrived to pick them up on sunday afternoon, neither would come out of the kennel to meet me at the door. they would stick their heads out and run back in. when the owner started to pull them out of the kennel, i asked to come back there and get them, but NO.....nobody was allowed in the actual kennels. (first thing i should have been wary about). He told me they had not been allowed out to the "play area" because one of them growled at him. so for three days in december, my two were stuck in the concrete kennel, not allowed out, not allowed their beds(they were by the front door when i came in, and i know they were not in the kennel because there was no dog hair on them). plus they smelled terrible when i finally got them in the car. having never boarded these two ever, i certainly would not EVER board any animal there again. the pictures and the web site may look great, but never again. i even called each day, and the woman would tell me "every thing is fine".....had i known there was a problem with them i would have cut the weekend short and came back home to get them. never, never, never would i go there again. read more
