Hmm, well, Yelp describes this watering hole as a dive bar, and while Mysliwska is certainly a dark, no-frills bar with a basic setup (the main room is a tiny and cramped pseudo-dance floor and the smokier back room is comprised of small circular tables), the dive bars I frequent wouldn't charge €6.50 for a long drink. I was also thrown off by the lime slice substitute the bartender used for my gin and tonic (though the fact that I can't remember if it was lemon or orange must surely indicate that I had a good time here). Most people were nursing a beer, so those prices were probably a bit more reasonable.
My friends and I stumbled in around 3 a.m. on a Friday night (so Saturday morning, really) but I was surprised by the lowkey atmosphere. There was an open table available, but we were joined by a random German because we had a seat available. He seamlessly joined the conversation -- like most Germans I've spoken to recently, he had plenty of questions about American politics -- and seemed to be a regular there because he was greeted by employees and other patrons alike. So while the clientele was certainly friendly, I don't think I'll be back again. Since we had literally walked into one of the first bars we saw around Schlesisches Tor, Mysliwska definitely got the job done, but all in all, it was a pretty unremarkable Wrangelkiez bar. read more
