The pricing model is a bit odd at first, but it works really well as you only get the parts of your house cleaned that you want. When they come and do the quote they charge you per room - $X per bedrom, $X for the kitchen, $X for dusting etc etc. So we didn't get any bedrooms or dusting as the house is relatively new which keeps the costs down. Fantastic idea. They use all their own products, and the cleaners are excellent. Good attention to detail, consistent cleaning and happy to be flexible and do extra cleaning if requested or to swap cleaning one thing for the other (without a price change). Really reliable, cost effective, professional and an excellent cleaning service (of course). Highly recommend!

I booked Hire a Maid to clean up after my daughter's 21st birthday party. I paid the invoice in…read morefull ten days before the clean by bank transfer. According to them it usually takes one day for the funds to appear in their account, so let's say nine days before clean. There was no further communication from Hire a Maid so I naturally assumed that the cleaning slot was confirmed. However, no one turned up on the day. I rang, I emailed. No response (it was a Sunday). On Monday following I received an email saying that the cleaners had not been booked in as they had not received a screenshot of the payment. What the heck? They had received the payment! So clearly the payment sat in their account for about nine days but that was not sufficient to confirm the job, nor did they think to ring or email me to confirm it. I have since received a full refund but sadly, no apology. Will not make this mistake again.

Getting my bathroom renovated. Got these guys to come in and install the shower mixer etc. It took…read morethem like 4 visits to do a simple shower install. Day 1 - installed it quick as. But the plumber never checked his work, there's no hot water. Day 2 (second visit took a whole week - cause they're busy) - but try not having a shower for a whole week, luckily we have family close by. Fixed the hot water problem, but again plumber didn't check his work. The pressure on the shower was like dribbling out, and if you turn the mixer slightly to adjust the temperatures it goes completely cold. Day 3 - after I got on the phone with the plumber again saying what happen mate? He said he'll come back and fix it. How does that work - half pie job? Hoping I wouldn't notice the shower is not working? Day 4 - calls me up in the afternoon and say we tried everything by the books and the shower is still crap. I just couldn't help myself, it was working perfectly before the reno, and the other mixers in the same bathroom all works. So I told him go and get a more senior plumber. Because this was 330pm on a Friday, if they don't get it done today, we'll have to go without a shower for the whole weekend again. Finally got a working shower after all the back and forth... Such a pain to organise someone to be on site for them for repeated visit. Find another plumbing service these guys got way too big and now the workmanship and customer service suffers. They are definitely not do it right the first time motto.

At at a reasonable fee of $20 a fortnight for a decent mow and edging, the lawn was looking awesome. There really is nothing better than the smell of freshly cut grass! The regular guy who turns up to do it is friendly and chatty (though not too chatty). Green Acres also offers home cleaning services (as per their name) , repairs and renovation, car and pool valet all at great prices. The thing about this company is the people it hires, if you have strangers inside your house around your precious things you need to be able to make sure their not going to make off with your god silverware, thankfully Green Acres thoroughly vets all their employees so you don't need to worry.

I needed a color-matching to a sample I brought with me, and the color-matcher '"professional" on hand, named Andrew, was incapable of being able to help me. Apparently, Resene is NOT well-equipped or capable of meeting customer needs at anytime of the day. Their lights are not well-calibrated and apparently they rely on sunlight for optimum results. My, how ancient! In the United States -- where I'm proudly from -- color-matching paint is NEVER an issue at places like Home Depot or other paint retailers. But New Zealand continues to struggle without success to catch-up with the 21st century! And today made me realize I can NEVER count on most New Zealand services to be prompt, efficient, or satisfactory to any degree! As Andrew rambled on about the poor quality of surrounding light, I just stood there dumb-founded realizing I was, yet, encountering another Kiwi excusing himself from being in any form effectual with his job. Without any further acknowledging of him, I just turned-around and left. His incompetence couldn't even halt me half-way to exclaim some other resolution to my issue. Truly, what POOR customer service! Ladies and gentlemen... HR professionals of the world: This is the so-called illustrious "Kiwi Experience" New Zealand employers expect of their native employees, and if you as a foreigner living in New Zealand don't possess these "qualifications," consider yourself excessively unemployed! "Kiwi Experience" expects you practice effectively: Laziness, incompetence, excuses, lack of fore-sight, not being proactive, thinking squarely and never outside of the box, quitting on customer service before even trying, and volley-balling customers from one salesperson to another in order to avoid - that's right - working. We called him up to inquire about installing our new dishdrawers, which was more complicated than usual since there was no obvious plumbing left behind from the previous home owners. Regardless Nick came around the next day and said it wouldn't be a problem for him to install the dishwasher straight away. Within the hour we had a functioning dishwasher. Winning all round! Old school, no nonsense, great work and no heart attack when the bill comes. That's what you want, and that's what I've had from Hoffman Plumbers. The vanity unit the plumber connected is heavy mahogany, marble and brass. That didn't stop the guy lifting it, and somehow carrying it through the bathroom and setting it down at the right spot before connecting it. That alone shows the above and beyond level of service - you can trust these guys to get it done correctly.
