I went to My Storage the beginning of the year and updated my visa debit and all my contact…read moreinformation. In October I tried to go to my unit; I had not been there in about two months. I could not get through the gate and was told to call in. I called in to find that they were not charging the proper updated card and therefor the unit had not been paid for, for some time. I was then told that the unit was going up for auction and that if I wanted it I had to pay what was owed plus penalty fees. I stated I should not have to pay the fees and cannot pay in full for the unit that day but could do half and the other half in two weeks. They agreed to the payment arrangements but stated they could do nothing about the fees. I was upset about paying the fees as the error was on the companies end not mine. But I eventually let it go and we finished the call after the first payment cleared. I received a call about an hour later from another employee. She stated that the unit had already been auctioned and sold. She continued to state if I wanted it that I had to pay in full that day. I was now as expected more upset. I then again explained the whole situation with the card and contact information not being correct. I was then told by the employee that they don't save visa debit cards on file (days later I was told on different call with a different customer service employee they do save visa debit cards on file!?). After being told about the card not saving the employee stated that the contact information they have is very much correct and I still have my old number. Basically calling me a liar but not stating the actual words. I tried to explain how I haven't had that number since last December and how phone companies recycle numbers. The employee stated that she herself called the phone and the person on the voicemail is very much me. Confused and a bit pissed off as I was just called a liar on top of the whole ordeal I listened to the employee then state how I was to blame as I didn't do my due diligence. I was told I should have been checking my account to ensure they took their payment out every month. There are only a few bills i actually ensure come out each month the rest I expect that they will with no issues and if there is an issue I would be contacted. I asked the employee to check the cameras to prove I went in and updated my info. I was told to give the exact date; which I couldn't remember. I did not expect that date to be so important and cannot remember the exact dates in which I do everything. I paid the money as I wanted and needed my belongings and was quite upset after the situation. I have never dealt with a company like this and do not want anyone to go through what I have. I was told different things multiple times by employees; there isn't consistent information given by this company. I sent multiple emails to talk to upper management, about the issue. I never got a word back on any form about that matter. The only other times they called after was to state they were going to charge me an extra charge for a new lock and to also try to get that money for the lock. Had my information been updated correctly and been told the accurate information the payments would have never stopped and my lock would have never been cut. Would not recommend even to someone I dislike.

Went with casual friend as my 'authorized driver' because I don't drive a truck to pick up a…read moretrailer to pick up 'my' stuff. The friend had a debt with U-Haul they were unaware of, and couldn't pay on the spot. I found another friend to help instead but Uhaul now says I can't rent at all because of my first friend's personal debt??!! Be careful who you ask to be an authorized driver if you don't drive or have a truck, because your name will also be rendered ineligible until the separate debt is paid off! Greasy Uhaul tactics for debt collection...rent elsewhere or privately! Hope they go bankrupt I will never rent from Uhaul again They also try to defame you by replying to your review with false debt collection efforts Pathetic! File privacy and BBB complaints for all collected personal information by U-Haul they then misuse with tacky 3rd party debt collection efforts, which violates privacy law standards. Smart talking staff are actually dumb.

It is a family business and they are great reliable people.

Update #3 We received a call back once again from "upper…read moremanagement" again by an employee named Chanelle. Chanelle wasn't nearly as nice this time around. She informed us that MY STORAGE would not be refunding any fees to us. They weren't at all certain that we were being fair in our expectations of what a storage facility offered and perhaps we might educate ourselves....I'm speechless. My husband and I are just nearing the end of our rope. We've had to throw away so many items because of bug waste. We've never had a business do something shady like this to us before. I know other folks have, but we haven't. Please share this entire post. If you might know anyone that has a unit there or with this company - WARN THEM!! Please share.

Price per month increases every Oct/Nov FYI ... Started out at $159.99 per month, then 6 months later it was raised to $179.99 per month and I just got November 2019 notice to say the fee is once again being raised another $20.00 to $199.99 per month. Every Oct/Nov you can count on an increase in your monthly rate. When I spoke to manager last year with first increase I was told nothing he could do ... corporate controls the rates. Just another example of taking advantage of the consumer. You sign a contract expecting to pay $159.99 a month ... you should pay $159.99 a month. Re: Response from the owner At no point did I mention anything in my review about needing a different size unit. Consolidating into a smaller unit is not an option. You are missing the point ... the point is that when I signed up for $159.99/month there was no discussion at the initial meeting to say 'BTW ... there will be increases 6 months in and every year after'. This should be clearly indicated on your website (like your free month advertising) and should be a conversation up front. I can assure you if I had been told I would be paying an extra $480 per year I would have looked elsewhere. Additionally, with regard to the 'Response from the owner' ...
