Unfortunately, I had to pull my daughter out after her 1st day due to this day care not following CA state regulations that allow parents to inspect the facility while children are present: see Health and Safety Code 1596.857. As a licensed child care home, they are required to let you in and inspect areas that children have access to - however, they didn't seem to want to let us do so. Even under the most recent COVID guidelines, you are still allowed to enter & inspect, which was 1 of their arguments for not allowing us. I wanted to do a soft handoff where I can play with my daughter for 5-10 minutes so she knows it's okay, but that was not in the cards since they keep all the kids in the back/yard and 1 of the teachers receives everyone in the empty front room. How can I make a determination on whether the teachers/caregivers are caring, loving, and treating the kids well if I cannot observe their interactions? My daughter seemed fine and happy when we picked her up, but we chose to pull her out due to these concerns. Alina did refund my deposit due to these conflicts, so I did appreciate that. However, it could have put us in a serious bind if we did not have another child care option to fall back on. read more

We really love sending our toddler to My Lastochka. As she comes from a home with several languages, she went from not speaking Russian much to speaking Russian in full sentences and knowing all sorts of songs and expressions. I was so impressed with how much she learned in a short amount of time! The teachers have been so warm and loving to her, especially Anya and Alina. It seems like nearly all the reviews here are written by their friends, and, unfortunately, I was bought into them... They treated my child (5 y.o.) cruelly by forcing her to eat the old buckwheat porridge they'd been given to the kids for 4 days! Like literally... Forced her! She said one of the teachers had been shoving it into her mouth without waiting until she swallows the previous portion! She said she choked, and the porridge got into her nose, which caused panic in her, and she started crying! That explained why one of the teachers was so mellow when we came to pick up our child. Both our kids (boy 3 and girl 5) went to this daycare and we just couldn't be happier. Several aspects played an important role in this: 1. Security - very safe grounds and environment - gated property, locked childproof doors, so it's impossible for kids to run out and equally difficult for anyone from the street to come in without express permission. 2. Food - daily home made fresh food (breakfast, lunch,and dinner). Kids always had a great snack option and our kids loved it! 3. Many different activities throughout the day (e.g. academics, dancing, singing, art, etc..) 4. Very well thought-out space - room for play, bedroom, and separate space for events/parties. 5. Very easy to communicate with owner and caregivers regarding any special requests and/or preferences we had. Beautiful place. My son Mark spent 4 years at Lastochka. Owners are very welcome people to everyone. Place is extremely clean and safe. My son got a great education and social skills while he attended this daycare. When he finally went to first grade a new teachers noticed and told me that he is a very smart little boy and have no problem with social aspects or educational. Me and my wife spoke only Russian language with our son for 6 years, and Marks English was good enough for him to fluently speak with his age kids at a new LAUSD school. Thank you to Alina and Anna for your strong educational program, it really worked out great for my family! My son Mark was supposed to go in to Kindergarten because his birthday is at the end of September but after the new teacher tested him, we were able to skip one year and transit straight to 1-st grade which made me very happy and proud of Mark. This is a very good school. I highly recommend it to all Russian speaking parents. My son has been attending it for 3,5 years. The food is always a home cooked meal, very delicious and nutritious. Kids have a diverse program, all teachers are very knowledgeable and have good communication skills with kids. Their parties and celebrations (Utrenniki) are great: with poem recitals, dances, performances, etc. The staff is very responsive to all your questions. Contacted the owner to set up a meeting and check out the preschool after I saw several good reviews on yelp...during the phone call she was very reluctant to set up a meeting without a guarantee that I would definitely enroll my child. I explained that it is very important to me to feel comfortable with the place before I bring him (which I think every parent I know does as well). But just her reluctance itself already made me worried. Then we finally confirmed the appointment and I drove there to meet her and check out the place a week later during the day and time we set up. I was extremely disappointed! I called her again in front of the preschool that had no signs and I needed to make sure I was at the right place. She told me that I never called her back and confirmed our appointment, so she is not there to meet me! What a waste of time and horrible customer service! In my book, clients do not call and confirm appointments as I am extremely busy, and if I make an appointment I'm there and do not cancel. Businesses contact clients and confirm appointments! She didn't have even the courtesy to apologize that she was a "no show" to our appointment and gave me attitude! I'm sorry if this is mean, but I will never trust my child to anyone like this! Just another business in SFV. The owner/director is to say the list not friendly and money driven. She runs the place like any other business. But it should not be this way, those are human souls we are talking about...She doesn't make impression that she actually cares for the kids. There is huge TV in one of the rooms, which is never a good sign for a parent. I have visited but was definitely reluctant to place my precious child here. My Lastochka was highly recommended to us when we started looking into Russian Day Cares when our baby turned 1 1/2, by a couple who's daughter had attended there since she was that age. We came to visit and were greeted so warmly, it felt comforting... like home. Instantly we knew that this would be the perfect environment for our baby. The place is impeccably clean, the food is home cooked daily, fresh from the best ingredients, and our son runs to the staff with open arms each morning. But most importantly, this facility has a wonderful academic program where the children learn, from a very young age. They are involved in art, music, crafts, and much more. My daughter is graduating this childcare in a few days and she absolutely loved it from the first day! The owner is great, the teachers are amazing. She learned a lot of basic stuff needed for school. The kids have 5-10 pages of the class work a day - coloring, writing, matching, counting, gluing, painting. They don't give kids homework, which is reasonable - kids at this age should play, not just think about studying! My kitchen wall is fully decorated with crafts done in the childcare. She started speaking English, although at home we don't teach her. And, the price is reasonable comparing to the similar places. This childcare also has an amazingly furnished backyard. The playground with the little house, swings, sand box, lots of toys. My daughter is already making plans to come here when she will have days off, looks like she is already prepared to miss this place.
