My friend has been trying to get me to go to MyIndigo for a while, insisting it is tasty and fresh. I have been slightly resistant as I usually find places like this, while so-so in quality and taste, overpriced and crowded as they are "in". We were meeting at 11:30, so half my argument was out the window. I grudgingly agreed to the location.
Being the picky eater and planner that I am, I went on to their website to see what the options are. The website is nicely laid out and gives all their salads, soups and curry options. I admit, my earlier judgments were based on nothing but having walked past the place a handful of times and I was actually quite impressed with what they offered.
It was a sunny day (something in short supply this summer so far) so I was happy to find the two small benches outside free. Again, we were early and I have walked past this place and seen these constantly full. Inside the seating is limited so if you want to stay to eat, go early or be prepared to wait. The benches were comfortable with their pillows, but the tables are more coffee table night meaning you had to either lean over and down to eat it pick up your bowl and hold it closer to your mouth. While this may seem a little nit-picky and it is likely pet of the "style" they are going for at MyIndigo, as I was wearing a while shirt and needing to eat curry, I was less than happy with the arrangement. And yes, I had a dot of curry sauce on my shirt by the end of it.
Anyway, seating issues aside, after perusing the website I was feeling very confident walking in to place my order. However, while the 1, 2, 3 boards show what the options are I found in nonetheless quite confusing and overwhelming as to what to do and what there was. I saw none of the soups or salads from the website and options for curry only. As the entire place is small and, despite the early hour, it was quickly occupied by two more people making me feel rushed and unable to really see what there was. I hastily ordered a chicken curry with vegetables and a Kambucha cranberry. The man assisting me asked me a question regarding the curry which I didn't understand. I asked home to repeat and he mumbled something else and lifted the kids to the two different chicken curries. I received no further explanation what the difference was so I chose the one that looked the "best". After paying my almost €9 for a bowl of curry and a drink I rejoined my friend outside.
While the taste wasn't bad, I was less than impressed. The chicken was rather dry and the vegetables was basically chopped cabbage in some sort of brine making everything watery. I ate about half of it and just couldn't finish it.
I'm sorry to say that my expectation of MyIndigo was fulfilled and I left feeling vindicated... and hungry. I don't plan to return any time soon and would not speak highly if asked about it. read more
