I went into My Hearing Center on Del Webb Blvd for an evaluation and was very pleased with the extensive evaluation and the time that Dr. Judd Asay spent explaining my hearing loss and what he recommended to improve my quality of life as it relates to hearing. Equipped with my new hearing aids I watched television with my wife for the first time in years without having to increase the volume to the point it annoyed my wife. Judd Asay was very understanding and thorough, my children told me I had a problem which I didn't believe. I promised I would have my hearing checked and find out. Well I found I did have a problem hearing, Judd pointed out hearing loss can cause dementia, this was a big wake up call. Within the past month I've gotten notices of free hearing exams from 2 different places. I was motivated to go because my hearing isn't very good. One of the 2 notices came from Hearing Life, promising a complimentary hearing assessment & Omaha steaks gift pack. I called and made an appointment for yesterday. While making the appointment I was told they wanted me to bring someone. I said that wasn't possible and they said ok. When I got to the appointment yesterday I stood at the counter while a woman behind the counter focused on her computer (later learning she was audiologist Dawn Moore). When she finally acknowledged me I told her I had a 10 am appointment (it was about a quarter of). She kept repeating that I didn't have an appointment so I showed her what I received in the mail with my handwritten notes about when the appointment would be. She continued to go on & on about how I didn't have an appointment and talked about steaks, which confused me until I remembered the invite included the Omaha steak pack. I finally said "look, I don't give a sh*t about steaks, but I drove here from the eastside to get a hearing exam so what do we do now? (rude, I know, but she was giving me a headache). I could tell she didn't want to, but she said she would fit me in and I wouldn't get any steaks because I didn't bring anybody. I said fine, let's do the test. After my test she showed me a graph of my results she'd made with a sharpy & a sheet of paper. She said she thought I needed a hearing aid. I told her I would be on Medicare soon and would get one then. She said with a smirk that Medicare did not include hearing aids, I said Medicare Advantage did. I don't think she likes being corrected. I asked for a copy of the test results and she refused. I asked about the difference between a hearing aid that amplifies versus the newer digital ones that, in a noisy restaurant for example, will amplify the conversation while toning the ambient sound down. She smirked & said "they're all digital now" and didn't answer my question. I said "ok, what about the hearing aids that do what I said, amplifying conversation while tuning out other noise?" She said "well those are about $6,000" with yet another smirk, as if she assumed I would not be able to afford it. In my entire time there I don't think there was one statement I made that she didn't respond to without trying to contradict or demean me. I thanked her for the test and for helping me to decide which audiologist to go to, really hoping she realized it would NOT be her (I smirked ;) ------------------ Part 2 - the other free test I got was at "My Hearing Centers" on the eastside. Very nice people, very professional, they asked relevant questions and provided good information (including which Medicare plans cover hearing aids). So they know their stuff. AND I was given a computer printout of my test results which show all kinds of things, like air conduction vs bone conduction and stuff I will google to understand, but I trust it. I do NOT trust "Hearing Life" AT ALL. read more

Went to this center with my mother to get her some hearing aids. Everything was fine up until the price came up at the end. He gave us three options for hearing aids. A $4100 option, a $4900 option and a $5900 option. We chose the second option and while on the phone with hear.com he mentioned the model number. I put that in google and the pair came up for $3199 for the $4900 option. I questioned the price he immediately crumpled up the paper and then took the temp aids out of her ear and said to her say goodbye to hearing again. Took Mom in to have her equipment adjusted. The technician was NOT wearing a mask, nor was the client that he sat very close to and had a lengthy conversation with. When it was mom's turn I asked him about this and he said he'd put a mask on if we wanted him to. The room was enclosed and obviously he'd allowed clients to sit in there all day without any PPE. FYI, this is getting 1 star because its mandatory that I add a star ranking, otherwise it was ZERO! This was a while back but my rerview has most likely fallen to the bottom of the pile. I would just like to reiterate, how totally unprofessional David Groom was. I was obviously in need of hearing aids. I went in and tried on a pair of behind the ear aids that worked INSANELY WELL! I immediately asked David if these came in the "In ear canal" and without hesitation he said YES! So I said lets order them! When they arrived, they were no where close to what I heard in that office. I was new to hearing aids and had no idea about the technology, all I knew is what I heard that day in his office, so I kept moving forward! THE PROBLEM WAS, THE "IN CANAL" AIDS CANT SUPPORT THE TECHNOLOGY SO THEY DO NOT COME IN THE "IN CANAL" AIDS, THE ASSHAT DAVID FORGOT TO MENTION THAT!? So when I asked him, he either A) did not know and said "YES THEY DO" or B) knew that they didnt, but sold them to me anyway? Is that deplorable or is that deplorable? Now Im 8 thousand dollars in the hole with hearing aids that arent the best fit for me! I can't find a zero. I didn't want to give your office One star. The first office staff was nice and welcoming. I was early for my appointment. The doctor decide to go ahead and see me. The first set of questions was about my insurance and money. I try to explained to the doctor that I do not and never have pay for my hearing aids becaI wish Iuse my Medicare and Medicaid pay for my hearing ear aids, That is all he heard How much did they cost? No need to go forward A wasted visit. I call lift to make that appointment and it cost me to go home. No one told me that they do not take my insurance. Not even when I was checked in for the appointment the receptionist scan my card I bet he charge me for that office visit. The doctor told me someone drop the ball for not telling me that they do not accepted Medicare and Medicaid. Anyway he escorted me to the door. I felt some type a way and got a little angry, I received a letter about their business, In that letter it said that you get a pack of complement batteries for coming in. I did not get that just for them dropping the ball as he put it. By the way I notice nobody was wearing a mask. Not good. Any way I went home and call the last office where I got my hearing aids, God is good. I getting fitted for a upgrade and my doctor is during a home visit. Can't get know better than that. Do they want to help you hear better and have a more tolerable life experience or they just want your money? That is the question you might want to ask yourself before you go to this place or any other audiologist. I came here with severe hearing loss, and was offered nice service, test and explanation of how new hearing aids will enhance my life. It's all good, but they come with a price tag: lower models for $4800, higher $6800. With my lifestyle higher is what I need. However, being new business owner, I hardly have any income at this time and struggle with my payments every month. As you may know, insurance doesn't cover hearing aids, and most people with the issue are elderly. I thought, I need help and leap of faith. That came quickly enough, when I discovered a higher end, newer model of the same hearing aid online $3000 cheaper!!!! Yes! You read that right! $3000 less. I can't describe the relief and excitement I felt when I saw that. The next day I presented this proposal to the audiologist here, David. Yes, he was going to lose a chunk of commission, but would have a customer who will need service and support, and pay for it. No. He turned me down. I was told that if I want his service I will have to pay him $1500 per ear. He works here FOR MONEY. No one works for free, and that was not the expectation. However, this business is about helping people HEAR better, it's a SERVICE business. It's unsettling that there are so-called professionals, who don't care about wellbeing of their patients. I am very grateful to have this experience, and the fact that I don't have to be working with the person who's interest is not my hearing, but my pocket. After many attempts to get my husband to get hearing aids I finally convinced him to attend a free luncheon seminar by My Hearing Center (who says there is no such thing as a free lunch?). The program was very informative and there was NO sales pressure, only the offer of a free hearing exam to be scheduled at a later date. The exam by David Groom was a true revelation to my husband of his hearing loss (I was vindicated!) and for the FIRST time in 51 yrs of marriage, he said, "Get out your checkbook!" Hearing aid technology has truly improved and the quality is astounding. My brother, a veteran of "aids in the drawer", encouraged us to get the highest quality because there is no comparison to the cheaper models. He is finally happy with his and my husband followed his advice. Yes, they are expensive, but SO worth it. My Hearing Center offers interest-free financing options. David provided very patient initial instruction and is always available for advice or adjustments. My Hearing Center schedules 90-day check-up appointments to keep the aids in top form and provide battery and filter replacements. The aids are comfortable and not at all noticeable--so much so that I placed a sign on my husband's shower door to remind him to remove them! If you or a loved one have hearing difficulty, see David. I have been watching all the ads in the paper (RJ) about hearing aids program and found one I thought I liked. My wife called and made a appointment for me (I couldn`t hear on the phone). One of the things I like in life is my iphone 5s. Much to my surprise the Starkey hearing aids are controlled by my iphone. I have had them for about 6 weeks and am hearing things I haven`t heard in years. When I go the gym I can listen to my music through Bluetooth from my phone. My sister invited me to go with her to get a free hearing test. Exam by David, very complete. I was blown away with what I could hear, my old hearing aides never gave me this quality or clarity before. There was no pressure or pushing toward the more expensive merchandise. Facts and options were presented in a frank and friendly manner. My experience was so nice that I related the entire experience to my husband. He stated a desire to accompany me on my next visit.
