Horrible Experience The movers sent a bookcase flying down my hardwood stairs. It destroyed the bookcase and caused over $1000 in damage to the stairs. They also charged me for time driving between houses on top of their flat driving fee, despite me having an email where they specifically stated that all driving was covered by the fee. I've been trying to get them to pay to repair my stairs, refund the driving time and cover the destroyed bookcase for over 2 months now. Their strategy seems to be hoping that I'll give up and go away. I've tried contacting the owner, but the people answering the phone just keep saying he'll contact me. I would not recommend anyone do business with this company. read more

We recently completed a partial move...from the house to a storage unit. The office staff was very responsive to all my questions and never flinched despite multiple changes in destination addresses. The crew did arrive about an hour after the scheduled time but they worked solidly and finished within the expected time for the size home. The crew was very friendly, personable and respectful. One concern I have is that the crew did not appear to have sufficient plastic or padded paper for all my items. However they appeared to place those items protected by cushions, etc. I can't comment on the condition of my items since they were only placed in the storage unit. read more

So, I had these guys move me two years ago and it took them 4 hours, now two years later they moved the exact same stuff and it took 7 hours. Spent most of the time trying to find one of the employees who wasn't interested in working and would wander off. I submitted a complaint but heard nothing back. Also, they damaged my floor and I submitted a claim. They only give you 7 days to submit a claim and now 4 months later the claim, that they said the insurance company had approved for $100, has still not been paid and my emails regarding the issue have been ignored. So, at the request of the marketing guy who called to ask me to amend my review, here goes. It took over 6 months and writing my first review to get reimbursed $100 for the damages that cost almost $200 to fix. And as for taking 3 extra hours because they sent two guys but only one actually worked, still no resolution on that. Terrible customer service! read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! I wish I had read more reviews before booking with them. We are very unsatisfied with our move. They charge by the hour and boy do they make sure to get all the money they want. One of their guys got injured and their speed significantly slowed. I requested compensation for that and after 3 weeks of calling and calling they finally said the move took the expected time. I disagree as I've done this move myself and with other movers (moving back and forth between different cities in the local area) and each time it was faster than their move. They also damaged our boxspring and two bookcases. I was very unimpressed with how much work I had to do to get ahold of them. They are not very professional. Overall my worst moving experience after 4 moves and 3 separate moving companies. read more

I've used My Guys Moving a couple of times now. The 1st time was to move from Gretna to Charlottesville and I was VERY pleased. This time, I was not. It started when calling to schedule the move. I should have known something was "off". Indiana from the Lynchburg office was apparently a little overwhelmed and copped an attitude with me for assuming that she knew my name since we had been emailing for an entire week! I was arrogantly told that she emails a lot of people so I needed to be more clear. I'm sure she does, but that is not good customer service. I went on and scheduled anyway. The guys who came were nice. I will say that. However, boxes were dropped, furniture was damaged during the move and on top of that I went over my previously deposited time - partly because it took them 30+ mins to figure out how to get a dresser down my curved stairs! Plus they removed the stair rail on 2 different flights of steps. The movers who brought in my furniture previously didn't have any of these problems?? I tried to help as much as possible (moving little things) and we even left numerous boxes, plants, etc behind just to speed it up some. I feel as though a lot of time was wasted and I had to fork out un-budgeted money. I asked the company to work with me to give me a few extra days to pay it and they said no. Didn't even consider it. I'm very disappointed and will not use them again. read more

They moved my son from VA back to NJ. The office staff was friendly and answered all questions. The crew took good care of the items being moved and were pleasant and respectful. Very pleased with the experience. My only concern was that they arrived late and I had no way to reach the crew or office staff because it was a weekend and calls just go to voicemail. Recommend that for weekend moves the customer is provided with a means to contact the company. Other than that, good job. read more

Not a good experience. They moved our entire household, a fairly big move and did not handle it well. Most annoying was the damage to our brand new house, holes in the wall, dings on the doors, 2 pieces of furniture damaged etc. After going back and forth for 6 weeks, finally agree to reimburse us $300 on a $7000 move. Now we have been getting the check is on its way for several weeks now. We were able to get reimbursed after posting this review and everything is fine now. read more

My Guys Moving did a FANTASTIC JOB moving my mother in law. There was a problem with the truck the morning of the move but Kenny called me early to let me know. He called back when the replacement truck was on the way. Kenny and Stephen were true professionals! They treated my elderly mother in law very respectfully as well as everyone they encountered at the two assisted living homes. Kenny and Stephen were very courteous and professional. 27 Mar 2013: My Guys Moving (MGM) gave us a price over the phone of $400 to have experienced movers load our household good into a freight trailer. MGM said 1 of the men on the crew we would get has 30+ yrs experience. 25 Apr 2013: MGM sent a 3-man crew to load our belongings into the trailer. The experience of the 3 men ranged from a few months to 2 years. This relatively-inexperienced crew failed to load things (freezer, table saw, etc.) that, in their words, "wouldn't fit" into the trailer. They took 8.5 hours and did a poor job. Their unprofessional and slow work is understandable due to their lack of experience. This is not the service MGM told us we would get. 26 Apr 2013: After we complained MGM sent a second crew (James & Mart) to look at the loading job of the first crew. They agreed the job needed to be redone and made an appointment to unload and reload the trailer on 29 Apr. 29 Apr 2013: James & Mart unloaded and reloaded the freight trailer. In addition, they loaded the freezer, table saw, and many more things into the trailer that the first crew said "wouldn't fit." James & Mart worked professionally and quickly. Total time was 3.5 hours. We are dissatisfied with the work of the first crew. We are satisfied with the work of the second crew. We paid $1225.50 for the first crew (8.5 hrs for a 3 man crew at $129/hr + a $129 trip fee). Charges for the second crew would be $400.50 (3.5 hrs for a 2 man crew at $89/hr + an $89 trip fee). We are satisfied with the work of the second crew and want to pay the $400.50. We are not satisfied with work of the first crew and feel cheated out of $825 ($1225.50 minus $400.50). A fair settlement to me would be a refund of $825. This is the difference between what we paid for the work of inexperienced crew and what we would have paid for the work of the experienced crew. A refund of $825 would mean that we will have paid what MGM originally told us the job would cost. read more

I had a VERY bad experiance with this company. I manage apartments and have dealt with many moving companies over the years and this is by far the worst. Well ahead of the move their salesperson came out to give me a cost estimate and determine the number of guys and size truck they needed. On move day they showed up with a much smaller truck and fewer guys than promised. They admitted that their salesperson had made a mistake but refused to really take responsibility for this mistake. I tried to work with them and alter the move plan so things could still work out well but in the end they did less than half of the work we had discussed and yet I was charged nearly the full amount we talked about. I had to bring in another company days later to finish the job. This felt like a classic bait and switch, promise one thing and deliver another all the while leaving me to have to clean up the mess. I would not recommend doing business with this company, they do not stand behind their word or take responsibility for their mistakes. read more

My daughter lives in a small 3 bedroom apartment in Lynchburg. Also has a small storage unit with tread mill, washer/dryer and small patio table with 2 chairs. She has very minimal furniture. The estimate for pounds was ridiculous. The quote included summer rates, extra stop for storage unit, plus her being on the 4th floor. This move was from Lynchburg to Charlottesville. I would not recommend that you even obtain a quote from this company. read more

I used My Guys Moving on 04/11/2017. My request for moving from Harrisonburg to Ashburn (Northern Virginia) was almost last minute. Not only was I accommodated in scheduling, the 2 man crew arrived at 9:00 am, had the truck packed and ready by about 11:30 am, arrived in Ashburn by 2:30 pm, and had unloaded everything expertly,without any damage, and was finished before 5:00 pm. That 2 man crew knew what they were doing and very professional. If I have to move in the future, I hope to request that crew again. Job well done! read more
