I`ve changed this myself to avoid confusion with what was Associated Dental then IDH and now My Dentist. It did close under the original name then showed IDH but soon rebranded as My Dentist. read more

However, while convenience played an important initial role in choosing this dental practice, it has given me a fantastic professional service over many years. I started off with Dr Hayes who has moved on to pastures new and over the last few years, my teeth have been in the very capable hands of Dr Stanley Fernandes. I've not encountered any major problems and the one big bit of work - root filling and crown onto one of my pre-molars was carried out painlessly and the porcelain crown is still doing its job well. They do most of the work on the NHS but charge more for some procedures such as crowns in order to keep costs down for children and less able patients. They only ask that you attend for 6 monthly check ups, which is fair enough. The practice has changed hands recently with the retirement of the Harkins. However, the surgery has moved on since their retirement and I was mightily impressed by their recent refurbishment when I attended for my 6 monthly check up today.
Glad to see from Yee Gan's review that they have refurbished here. When I had visited under the…read moreHarkins reign, it felt very basic and stark. Needless to say, like many others, I can be a little uncomfortable at dental appointments. This atmosphere did little to calm me and I actually left without booking in for the work that was suggested. Further to the atmosphere and surroundings, I was actually recommended a root canal on one visit. I took a second opinion with a different dentist who (at a greater cost) did the work without the pain and trauma of root surgery. This work has been in there for 6 years without problem, so I am glad I went for the second opinion. I can not complain about the really friendly staff here - they were great.

It is Andrew Murphys practice now, and he has a very up to date method of dental care, not to mention the array of equipment, some looking like being out of a futrure Star Ship!! But the painless dentist song does apply here, and the relaxing way both the Hygenist ( A new Lady) and Andrew makes you feel confident to attend, even though I am a devout coward!!

Con artists. Tried to get me to spend £800 on major gum treatment because I said my gums were sore…read more(and had been for a couple of years since my last wisdom tooth extraction, done at Eledent). The X-ray itself didn't show anything significant other than a slight receding gum line, but after about ten mins of scaremongering, he almost convinced me that my teeth were definitely going to fall out - after about 30 years. I figured if I really had gum disease I would be in a worse state than I actually was. Then after all that, he realised that I also had an oddly angled wisdom tooth that might be the cause of the soreness- he missed that when he first looked at the X-ray. Still, he strongly recommended the intensive gum treatment with an Eledent specialist. Decided to get a second opinion: went to an NHS dentist. By the time of my appointment at the NHS dentist a couple of weeks later, with daily flossing and switching to an electric toothbrush, the soreness in my gums had virtually disappeared. The NHS dentist concluded that all I need is regular cleaning to treat/prevent things like gingivitis. Saved 100s of pounds. I'm sure for basic services like hygiene Eledent are fine, and aside from the scare tactics their bedside manner is good, but if they recommend really expensive treatment, I would get a second opinion.
