I could have got together with friends had I known that before noon. That is my only complaint.

John was flexible with meeting my timeline and understood the limits of my budget. I initially planned on having The HandyGuys for only a painting job, but the more I spoke with John about my project, I learned of his crew's capability to refurbish the flooring in some of the rooms in the house that was hidden under disgusting carpet. I decided to award both painting and flooring jobs to The HandyGuys and I am VERY glad I did. For both jobs, the HandyGuys were more affordable. I quoted 2 other flooring contractors and 3 other painters. While pricing played a key role in my decision, quality was equally important. For the painting job, I had selected a color but quickly realized it wasn't a good choice. So James helped me out tremendously with color selection in order to execute my vision. Although it took 2 trips to the store, James was very patient, respectful and insightful. Furthermore, James made sure I was happy with the color. Thanks James! When I contacted FreshCoat, I said "I usually just paint myself, but I bought this crazy metallic…read morepaint at Target, and it looks like it's complicated to apply. Do you have experience with this type of paint?" Reassurances all around. The painter, Doug, called me with a litany of "faux finish" jobs he had done that looked great. He painted the room with my paint, and after two coats, he packed up, reassuring me that it was going to look great when it dried. Well, after a day or two, it was clearly a disaster. I called Barbara, who came out to look and of course said that the job needed to be fixed. Score 1 star for FreshCoat. Barbara (admini) and Douglas (painter) met and decided that I needed to use paint that he was familiar with. This seemed totally reasonable, and I figured I should have known better than to buy house paint at Target. So I went to Lowes and purchased the primer, base coat, and metallic that they recommended. Douglas came back, forgot to use the primer (he read the paint cans wrong), and finished the job with his recommended paint. Again, he packed up and left with reassurances. The picture that I'm attaching isn't of wet paint, or of one coat when another was planned. This was the finished job, several days later. I called poor Barbara to complain again, and again she came out to look at it. I told her that I was not going to pay for the full rate of painting, and we settled on a price for their effort plus several days of work, etc. 800 dollars. I am giving two stars because I appreciated that the owners were apologetic, rather than trying to make it seem like I was crazy or too demanding. Barbara's parting words were "Doug usually does a really good job..." They didn't offer to send another painter to fix it, and I didn't insist, because at that point it had gone on for over a week and I was tired of having people in the house. I ended up getting boring, non-metallic paint and painting it myself. It was a total waste of a thousand dollars (when I add the cost of many cans of paint).

Hired Tola Painters to paint two bedrooms and a dining room. The owner was prompt with the estimate…read moreand the price was right in line with two other contractors. Informed Duros (owner) that we wanted just the dining room walls done and not the trim and that the bedrooms were walls and trim but not ceilings. After the first day there was paint all over the dining room trim and the bedroom ceilings had primer on multiple spots on the ceiling. Window trim in the bedrooms was never painted at all. The painters returned multiple times to correct the issues and Duros himself ended up doing a quick touch up on the window trim. To be fair the owner was busy with family issues and wasn't on site most days. The job was eventually finished but needed touch ups. Poor attention to detail.
