I had one of the worst encounters of my life with a museum manager here. I had gone for a day trip from Paris with two female friends, and brought a carry on with me as I had another train to rush to after our trip. I did not realize luggage was not allowed c and when I saw signs prior to Monet's garden, I went into what seemed like a welcoming museum to inquire if I could use their lockers, which was advertised.
The first woman to greet me said no and said we could take turns as a group with one person staying with the carryon. It seemed like the best option and we thought we could just have someone sit on the corner chairs nearby with the suitcase while the other two walked around. We were discussing as a group on the logistics, not moving around, when all of a sudden a man with glasses storms out of a back office and starts screaming at us in French, even though clearly we are not local.
I understand French, and he was shouting at us, in front of everyone, going on about us having the carryon, are things not clear, etc, with no ounce of explanation or even hearing us out. In the dozens of countries and museums I have visited, I have rarely been so disrespected and humiliated in my life. We were shell shocked after the fact and reconvened outside, and I spoke with the receptionist after expressing my views.
This is not the kind of experience any visitor would ever want and put a sour taste in my mouth. From this experience alone I would never recommend anyone to visit. Save yourself even the possibility of interacting with this unpleasant human being -- whatever it has is it worth it. read more
