We attended Swan Lake in early June and the theater was boiling hot! Sitting in my seat, I thought I would pass out- seriously. Not exaggerating. Left totally soaked and gross- took 30 minutes to cool down outside at the trocadero. So for me, even with the STUNNING view of the Eiffel tower, it was kind of miserable. However! I did lose 2 pounds over night.

When visiting Paris, we wanted to attend a performance at the historic Opera National de Paris -…read morePalais Garnier but we could not get tickets a month before (appeared it needs to be preplanned four to six months ahead) so we decided to go on a tour. I had wanted to see the opera house for about 15 years and did not have a chance-we were very happy with our experience! The opera house is located at Place de l'Opéra in the 9th arrondissement of Paris and the tour entrance is in the back side of the building. There are a variety of tours but we selected a guided tour so there could be allot of interaction and added information - it was well worth it! Tours are available from It is generally open from 10 am to 5 pm (last admission one hour before closing), though the auditorium may be closed unpredictably due to rehearsals. We were on a guided tour and they allowed us in during one of the rehearsals although we could not speak. Having visited many opera houses in the past including London, Vienna, Prague, etc. this one was very impressive. The Grand Staircase, museum, foyer, and addition displays are amazing. Well worth the visit!

A cross between a cultural lounge, sports arena, dance studio and day-care center, the 104 rocks…read more(especially if you've got kids in Paris and are looking for a cool place to let them run around while you soak up the scenery). After a lackluster opening a couple of years back, the 104 has finally come into its own and is bursting at the seems with coolitude. On a recent visit we did the follow incongruous but totally awesome things: - Watched a slew of hip hoppers practice their break dancing in the central atrium - Drink coffee that we ordered from a stationary pizza truck - Take videos of ourselves running around like fools without giving a hoot - Walk through a maze of ribbons - Hang out in a day care center with a dozen or so other parents while watching our kid run and play in a totally safe space. Might I add that all of this was FREE! Yes, they have paid exhibitions at the space too, but honestly you could make an afternoon out of 104 without spending a dime. This is the type of place that makes you fall in love with France all over again.
