If you could give minus stars I would. I have never been so appalled at a companies ethics before. Don't be conned by the 'we MOT the car then guarantee it for a month' scam. I would be surprised if this car has even seen a garage before. It is now dead, 2months after spending £1500 on it. The sales man is very charming but it is all chat and not followed up by substance. Do not buy a car from this Company. I bought a Vauxhall Astra on 22/7/14. I paid £1350 for the car. Made it clear to Connor that we wanted a tyre replaced, the boot fixed (it didn't open) and most importantly, the air conditioning fixed. It didn't work at all. Car was deliverd to us in a garage forecourt in Livingston. I foolishly paid my balance in cash and didn't check the car. Returned the car three days later, where after being "talked" at by Gary he finally agreed to change the tyre. He, or someone fixed the boot. Actually it didn't last and my husband eventually fixed it. This review could go on and on. The upshot is it took a further three months of unreturned calls, six trips to Musselburgh (at approx a cost of £200 in fuel), annual leave days, constantly having to chase them for updates on my car, several days of the car being off the road, having to write to them via trading standards under The Sale of Goods Act before eventually the air conditioning was fixed. I completely recognise one reviewers opinion of Gary, he is a thoroughly unpleasant man to deal with, he cuts phone calls short, pretends he can't remember who you are when you do get him, talks over you, keeps telling you it's not his fault (not sure whose fault it is, he sold me the car). I had to resort to recording my phone calls to him as there is no other way of keeping a record of what was said. His email account doesn't allow you to keep a record. I am now considering an action in the small claims court to try and recoupe my fuel costs. We are not wealthy people and a further two hundred pounds is a lot of money to us. Gary's parting shot on Friday was "I was ridiculous to think I could get my costs back". PLEASE DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE WITH THIS COMPANY. read more

They will steal your money.. Appear to be cheaper than the rest and offer an MOT with the car. They will say that if there are any advisories they will fix them.. Pure lies.. They will not and they say they will.. They will try to sell a car that has significant safety issues that they will not communicate to you.. Stay away from them.. For your own good.. read more

I wish I have read your reviews and never get involved with Musselburgh Motors Co. They are hideous!!! They sold us a car with a problem. They made us wait two more days saying they would fis it, but then they gave us the car without having done it (and said nothing, as maybe we would not notice), then we had to return 5 more times, loosing weekends, evenings and our patience. They just said every time "come tomorrow, and I promise it will be fixed", but it never was. They were not answering messages or the phone. When finally went to them to say we wanted our money back, this Gary man, a total bully, tried to intimidate us saying the car was ours and we just had to deal with it (which is not true as it was still on guarantee). And is if it was a major favour then it repaired it, at the moment, in 30 mins. He didn't want to listen to a woman, and just talked rubbish. Obviously, he is used to try to intimidate angry clients, and not very used to respect women. I want no-one to go through the nightmare we went through because of them, just do not risk buying from them. They are unreliable, inefficient, incompetent, and had no idea of costumer service. I disagree with yourself. I read this review as it was the opposite from what satisfaction I'd received not on just one, but 2 of the cars I've bought from Gary personally. I bought a 2002 Ford fiesta (which I was advised would suit myself and partner perfect from Ford reviews) to get from our home in Gullane, to work at Newbridge, Edinburgh . We had this car for 5months before my wife had a promotion. We both agreed that a newer car would be sufficient but to a good budget. We popped in to see Gary and met with Connor who showed us what our options were. After meeting with Gary again, we bought ourselves a newer shape fiesta and had 1/2 a tank of fuel thrown in as repeat custom. We have had this car for nearly 14months now and look forward to seeing them again for our next car. We have good relations with this company and thank Gary and the staff for the customer care.
