I am extremely indecisive with cocktails & the bartender offered to make me something based on what I like. The drink he made was an outstanding blackberry gin cocktail. Really laidback with Polaroids all over the walls & some nice booths. Just a great place in Bergen! Might go back tomorrow tbh

Nice relaxing pub, friendly bartender, cool live music…read more This bar is right in the Bergen City Center on the warf. We had a busy day in Bergen at the tourist stops, and headed into this pub to get out of the rain and the hustle and bustle of downtown Bergen. This pin was great. They had a decent selection of Scotch and Whiskey. The prices were steep as everything is in Bergen. They do not let you order a double as this is a rule in Norway. We could only order single shots at a time. Why? I don't know. This is a nice, quiet, relaxing pub to stop and get a drink. When we went, there was a local band playing and a lot of locals were hanging out here. I recommend this pub if you're looking for a relaxing hangout place.

Shave and a Haircut, Two Bits…read more A mere salmon toss away from Bergen's harbor fish market is the hybrid Irish pub/sports bar phenomenon known as Scruffy Murphy's. You know you have to investigate any pub with a name like that...especially when a five o'clock shadow is involved (though it's not required for admission). We had plans for dinner elsewhere, but decided to pop in for a quick drink and to check out the scene. Things were looking a bit hairy as to whether or not we'd find seating with the front patio full, and with most of the tables occupied on both floors of the dimly lit pub. We hoped to score one of the cozy nooks with a couch, but we settled with snagging the last window-side high top facing the fish market instead. It turns out we had prime pedestals for viewing the fishy pedestrian traffic, even if we felt a bit crowded in our spot. Surrounding us was a rowdy gaggle of locals watching the World Cup on several large screen TV's, some surely "Liverbirds" (the local Liverpool F.C. fan club that meets at the pub regularly.) "Liiiiiiiiverpooooool!" Service was prompt, and within minutes, I was drinking a Bavarian Erdinger Weissbräu while listening to country music in an Irish Pub in Norway! Jawohl! Prost! Others in our group ordered Hansa to restore our Norwegian street cred crushed by my German order, and a couple pints of Guinness crowned with shamrock foam art completed our round. Our only complaints were that our table was too close to those neighboring us, and we didn't find the bar stools to be comfortable. Other than that, we enjoyed our time at Scruffy's, though we aimed to find less touristy pubs for the remainder of our stay in Bergen. The drinks and laughs poured freely, we appreciated the casual vibe and built-in entertainment between the window and soccer fans, and the location was perfect for taking a break from sightseeing and shopping downtown. Check it out...it just might grow on ya. I give this bar 3.4 Liverpool fan shouts of "You'll Never Walk Alonel!"

She apologized it was the last one and the label as damaged. I didn't recognize the name but it was a CRU 2005 French pinot noir from Burgundy. We shared a glass and Descriptors with Lena. All good and fun. The reindeer was tender. It reminded me of a lean steak. It was one of those unexpected wonderful nights.

I have only eaten here a couple of times, and it has been a while, so I do not have the dining experience fresh in mind, other than remembering it was good. The wines are however a good enough reason to visit Altona. The premises are 400 years old, a real cellar with different cosy rooms. Be aware of the low ceiling, though. Tall people need to be flexible to pass the doors. The restaurant is in one large room next to the entrance, with white tablecloths on the tables, candle lights and comfortable chairs. You can have a seat in the smaller rooms in the back if you are there only to enjoy some delicious wine and good company. Altona is located in a hotel, approx. 5-6 minutes walk from the city center. They have a cosy front yard for summer nights, or for smokers all year around. I very much recommend a visit to Altona. Enjoy recommendations from experienced staff and lean back for a relaxed evening in a very nice environment!
